actually I believe the problem is a kmail problem. I have attached 2
screenshots to show how it looks in old Kmail (running KDE 4.71 in natty) and
new Kmail2 (running KDE 4.7.1 in oneric). The KDE settings profile is the same,
so it must have something to do with how new kmail handles it.

This also appears in the 4.7.1 version.

Some articles are completely hidden (left table shows unread articles, but the
feed list contains no unread articles), you have to switch to another feed and
switch back to this one.

My default search order is new articles top.

I second this. The option (storing login information in config file instead of
KWallet) has already been implemented in KMail 1.x but is still missing from
KDE 4.7.2 (konadi with Kmail 2.x).
I prefer starting KMail without asking Kwallet-password everytime I log in to
the KDE. On the other hand I use more different wallets for different purposes
and I have to store every passwords in each Wallets which is very
uncomfortable.

i was waiting until version 4.7.2, but it still shows the same behaviour:
after setting the retrieval intervall to e.g. '1 minute', it works for an

Thank you very much for fixing this Laurent. I have two questions, 'Use smart
quoting' is an option which is not enabled by default, yet the option seems to
enable what is default behavior for every e-mail client I know of? And what is
the reason for not having this option enabled by default? And what do you mean
with a 'pb'?

[Bug 283467] New: Kmail has duplicated folders after migration from previous version

2011-10-06 Thread Swâmi Petaramesh
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=283467

Summary: Kmail has duplicated folders after migration from
previous version
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.7
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: sw...@petaramesh.org

Created an attachment (id=64284)
 --> (http://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=64284)
Duplicate folder screenshot

Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.1)
OS:Linux

After upgrading from KUbuntu Natty to Oneiric, which migrates KMail from 1.x to
2.x, at next KDE login the migration tool converts the old datastore to the new
Akonadi one, duplicating all the folders.

Reproducible: Didn't try

Steps to Reproduce:
Migrate a french-locale KMail, POP3 account, from 1.x to 2.X

Actual Results:
Once this completes, KMail has both folders with localized names and nice icons
(albeit empty), AND same folders with english names, without the nice icons,
and where email have actually been stored (and these folders are the "active"
one for whatever purpose, i.e. send, receive, etc...)

See attached screenshot.

Expected Results:
Duplicate folders shouldn't be created. Folders with localized names should be
the only ones existing and in use.

Furthermore, when processing mail, KMail often spits messages telling it cannot
write to the mail folders (see screenshot), however this is wrong as messages
seem to be processed, stored, moved properly, etc.

[Bug 283478] New: wrong line endings (\r\n) output to sendmail

2011-10-06 Thread Jonathan Marten
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=283478

Summary: wrong line endings (\r\n) output to sendmail
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Compiled Sources
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Mail Dispatcher Agent
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: j...@keelhaul.me.uk
CC: vkra...@kde.org

Version: unspecified (using Devel)
OS:Linux

When Akonadi is configured to use sendmail for sending mail, it appears to pipe
the message to the specified command with \r\n (carriage return, line feed)
line endings. This is incorrect - in this mode sendmail expects native Unix
line endings, i.e. \n (linefeed) alone.

I cannot find a definitive source for the line ending requirement, and it is
possible that traditional sendmail does not care. However, if the mail sender
agent is actually Debian SSMTP, it does care about the line endings and
unconditionally adds another \r (carriage return) to the transmitted message.
Depending on the receiver, this can cause incorrect header or MIME boundary
detection.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Install SSMTP (ftp://ftp.debian.org/debian/pool/main/s/ssmtp)
Configure the sending mail account to use /usr/lib/sendmail (a link to
/usr/sbin/ssmtp)
Send an email with attachments to a Google Mail account.
Observe that the attachments are not recognised correctly, and the message body
as displayed by gmail is something like:

-- start -
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7Bit

Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

Message text

--

Signature

Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="xyzzy.gif"

Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64

Content-Type: image/gif; name="xyzzy.gif"

R0lGODlhcQBxAPQfAP//AP/MAMz/AMzMzMzMAMyZAMxmAJnMAJmZAJlmAGaZAGZmZmZmAGYzADNm
(remainder snipped)
-- end -

Actual Results:
Mail is received with additional line breaks, which cause the headers and MIME
boundaries to be not interpreted correctly.

Expected Results:
Mail should be received correctly.

The mail sending works correctly if SMTP is chosen for the mail sending agent.

See http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=584162, section "Summary":

The simple satellite MTA ssmtp cannot properly handle e-mail messages
already formatted with network ("DOS") line endings. Such messages
may lose parts of the body, sent to the wrong recipicients, or have
their last lines stripped for a related error.

[Bug 283484] New: KMail filters do not work on unread mails

2011-10-06 Thread Michael Zanetti
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=283484

Summary: KMail filters do not work on unread mails
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.7
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: mzane...@kde.org

Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.1)
OS:Linux

Ever since I'm using KMail2 the mail filters do not work for unread mails. When
new mails are incoming they are not filtered. With all those unread mails
pressing Ctrl+A and Ctrl+J still does not filter them. Then, if I walk through
all the mails and read them (mark them as read) pressing Ctrl+A and Ctrl+J
filters them correctly.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Create some filters to move incoming mails to a different folder.

Actual Results:
Incoming new mails are not filtered. After they are marked as read, applying
the filters manually works.

Btw. This happens also on KDE 4.7.2 but at the time of reporting the bug 4.7.2
was not yet in the list.

[Bug 283431] kmail2 gets stuck in trying to display a message after having displayed a message containing an .ics file while akonadi not having a calendar ressource configured

--- Comment #2 from Cristian Tibirna 2011-10-06 18:48:17 ---
Not something that would have catched my attention. I saw messages of
retrieving items from akonadi, waiting for them for a while (with message "wait
for item...") and then declaring success. But nothing related to missing
calendar or incorrect akonadi config.

[Bug 283487] New: Ical over sftp does not push new events to server

2011-10-06 Thread Luis Silva
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=283487

Summary: Ical over sftp does not push new events to server
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: 4.8
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: ICal file resource
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: lacsi...@gmail.com

Version: 4.8 (using KDE 4.7.1)
OS:Linux

I have an ical calendar on a remote server I configured using the sftp kio
(this is also valid for the fish kio). The resource fetches all the events from
the remote server and even fetches new events on refresh. For every sync the
ical file is being updated with new modification times. However, if I create a
new event locally, the new event will not be pushed back to the server. Changes
to existing events aren't pushed back either.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Setup a read/write accessible ical calendar on a remote machine over sftp:// or
fish:// with a few events already
Create some events locally.

Actual Results:
The events already on the server are fetched correctly and their modification
date updated. Events modified locally are not updated on the server. Events
created locally are not sent to the server.

Expected Results:
Accessing an ical on a remote server should behave as if it was local.

OS: Linux (i686) release 3.0.0-12-generic
Compiler: gcc

I can confirm this problem (KDE 4.7.2, openSUSE 11.4).
The migration itself was a nightmare. After first start (upgrade from KDE
4.6.0), the migration terminated immediately with an error, but w/o more
verbose message.
I started in interactive mode (kmail-migrator --interactive), before I had to
delete all kmailrc2 etc files. This time the migration worked well, on the
restart of KMail I skipped the migration.
All accounts seem to be there, but kmail closes with the a.m. message. No usage
possible.

This is clearly a showstopper

I can confirm this in kde4.7.1, from Kubuntu 11.10

importing my 700mb mail dir to kmail2 took several hours and the memory usage
got up to 1.8gb. The memory was rising even after the task was completed, so I
terminated the process.

This can be a problem if kmail2's migration assistant fails, and you need to
import stuff manually.

I did not use KMail for a while now and I've re-organized my IMAP-folders a
bit. I thought I'd try KMail again, but now KMail shows my IMAP-account's
folders out-of-sync - folders I've moved under some other folders are still in
their original place and not where they are supposed to be etc. When I check
the account's serverside subscription, it shows correct list there, but well..
how can I get THAT list to be reflected in the folder list?

Reproducible: Didn't try

Steps to Reproduce:
Manage IMAP-account's folders from another application and see whether KMail
will show the updates.
