[kmail2] [Bug 484706] IMAP-folders stay offline

2024-07-11 Thread Marek Greško
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=484706

Hello,

see if the workaround in the bug 486160 works for you. I am not sure about
SuSE, but there should be some similar file or it could be overriden by
configuration file in /etc/NetworkManager.

[Akonadi] [Bug 486160] All akonadi network resources are offline

2024-07-10 Thread Marek Greško
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=486160

Hello,

I just found a workaround for the problem. When I remove
NetworkManager-config-connectivity-fedora package everything works like a
charm.

I cannot imagine how could akonadi developer consider all the resources
unreachable, even resources in the local network when some specific Internet
connectivity check fails. This should be fixed ASAP.

Thanks

It seems to be an akonadi problem. When running akonadiconsole I see many
resources offline. I am not able to make them back online. Maybe akonadi thinks
there is no network connection or something like that? How does it detect such
things?

Thanks

2024-04-26 Thread Marek Greško
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=486160

Bug ID: 486160
Summary: Cannot switch imap account to online
Classification: Applications
   Product: kmail2
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: grave
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: marek.gre...@protonmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

I just upgraded Fedora 39 to Fedora 40. When I lggen in to the kde plasma 6
session after upgrade and run the kmail 2 application, my IMAP account is
offline and cannot be switched online. There is no reaction on clicking "Click
here to switch to online" (sorry if not properly translated, I see it in
Slovak).

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Upgrade Fedora 39 to Fedora 40.
2. Login to plasma 6 session and run kmail2.
3. Try to switch IMAP resource online.

OBSERVED RESULT
IMAP resource is not switched to online after clicking. No change after click.

EXPECTED RESULT
The IMAP resource should be online without needing to click anything.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Fedora 40 with latest updates.

[Akonadi] [Bug 469937] Akonadi crashed at startup after Fedora 37 upgrade to 38

2023-05-18 Thread Marek
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=469937

I restrarted the machine, akonadi seems to be stable:

$ pgrep -fl akonadi
3040 akonadi_control
3225 akonadiserver
3265 mysqld
3599 akonadi_akonote
3600 akonadi_archive
3601 akonadi_birthda
3602 akonadi_contact
3603 akonadi_followu
3604 akonadi_google_
3605 akonadi_ical_re
3606 akonadi_indexin
3608 akonadi_maildir
3610 akonadi_maildis
3611 akonadi_mailfil
3614 akonadi_mailmer
3616 akonadi_migrati
3617 akonadi_newmail
3620 akonadi_sendlat
3622 akonadi_unified

So maybe it was just a transient upgrade problem.

[kleopatra] [Bug 342153] Kelopatra crashes on the first start up if kgpg

2014-12-24 Thread Marek Ciborowski
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=342153

--- Comment #2 from Marek Ciborowski ciborowskima...@gmail.com ---
Hi,

Thank you for your reply.

I am using Fedora 21 with Mate 1.8.1 as the window manager.

I have Fedora repositories and rpmfusion.

1) When I start Kleopatra it produces a test report with one test failing :
Gpg-Agent Connectivity , result : unexpected error and the details are :
'The error returned was : IPC parameter error' and when I continue ot
crashes with sig11 - segmentation fault.

2) What I used KGpg for the first time it guided me through the setup where
I accepted all the defaults. The end result was Kleopatra crash, details of
which were submitted.

3) Note that I use a mixture of Mate , Gnome and KDE programs/applets none
of which has been build from source.

I will be more than happy to assist further but for now I guess it is
Merry Christmas.

Thanks again

Regards

Marek

I'm a google code-in student who is doing a bug triaging task.
I can't reproduce this bug, can you provide some more information?

[kmail2] [Bug 329211] New: Sorting by arbitrary headers

2013-12-24 Thread Ph . Marek
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=329211

Bug ID: 329211
   Summary: Sorting by arbitrary headers
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.11.3
  Platform: unspecified
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: message list
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: phil...@marek.priv.at

I'd like to be able to sort eg. the spam folder by an arbitrary header line,
like X-Spam-Score. Perhaps it would make sense to allow using a RegEx to
extract some part of the header line.

Reproducible: Always

Actual Results:
Ability to define custom sort styles.

Expected Results:

Btw, i looke in akonaditray - Configuration, went through all the IMAP
resources, and indeed, in one of them the Trash folder was set to 'sent-mail'
(not by me, prob. somehow corrupted), so i fixed that reference to an existing
trash folder, restarted akonadi. But still kmail complaints the same when i try
to run it.

2013-06-16 Thread Marek Otahal
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=321246

Bug ID: 321246
Summary: kmail: crash on start up - unknown resource, error 18
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.11 beta1
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: grave
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: markota...@gmail.com

Hi,
I'm trying out kde 4.11beta (4.10.80 to be exact) and have this kmail crash
every time i fire up the application.

It says:
The Email program encountered a fatal error and will terminate now.
The error was:
Could not create collection sent-mail resourceId: 18

Downgrading to kde 4.10 does not solve the issue as there's some incompatible
protocol (seems it was updated already by new kmail..something along
Incompatible protocol found, required 29, found 32..

In kde 4.11 this crash appears, after clicking OK on the msg window, kmail
closes.

Akonadi and all resources are (restarted) up and running.

Interesting is that otherwise kmail is working, it asks for password to access
kwallet, if I fill it in and dont click the crash-window, all IMAP resources
start (successfully) synchronize and I see new mails in the list.

Any ideas? I miss the comfort of my mail client :)
Thanks, mark

It would be awesome if, for a given name, kmail would check _both_ for maildir
folders and (compressed) mailbox.* files; then eg. each year one could do a
.tar.gz (or .zip, or whatever) of the current contents into a new file, and
kmail would just show the emails (after doing a re-index run, of course).

A kind of hierarchical storage, if you like.

Guys, not sure if related, but for the record. I always had kmail slow reading
IMAP folder list (many mails ~20k), even on a decent machine (i7,16GB ram,
ssd). Today we switched on Archlinux to MariaDB MySQL implementation, while
doing that, I read config file

/etc/mysql/my.cnf
allow InnoDB and change line to
innodb_buffer_pool_size = 2G
..to any reasonable value from too small buffer (16M), it works Wonders now!

(raise related log files sizes too, few lines below)

kmail and whole KDE works blazingly swift now.

merry Eastern! :)

[kmail2] [Bug 316102] kmail: folders with email change possition after selected

2013-03-06 Thread Marek Otahal
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=316102

--- Comment #2 from Marek Otahal markota...@gmail.com ---
Wolfgang, thank you for reply! Sorting by name is a workaround for the problem.

But the correct folder (the clicked one) stays selected.
Guilty in both cases :) you are right. The evil's trick is that you select
folder (left click), it will resync and shuffle, and then rightclick to 'Mark
all as read', will act on a different folder .. and make you lots of trouble.

I dont know if we want to close this as Invalid, or enhance sort by unread to
wait with redrawing folders' ordering after the selected folder is synced(so
it's more smooth)?

Thank you,
mark

[kmail2] [Bug 316102] New: kmail: folders with email change possition after selected

2013-03-04 Thread Marek Otahal

Classification: Unclassified

   Version: 4.10
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED

  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: markota...@gmail.com

on the left side of kmail window, there's a subwindows with folders for each
email (imap) account and underlying folders for sorting out emails. With the
recent (kde 4.10 and beta previews) versions, there's a very annoying bug: when
I click on a folder, their ordering changes. This is 1/ annoying for the user,
2/ leads to errors like marking as read all mails in unintended folder.

Example:
mark-gmail (name of imap acc)
- Inbox
- Work
- Friends

shuffle

mark-gmail
- Work
-Friends
- Inbox

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. select a folder with unread mail
2.
3.
Actual Results:
shuffle order

Expected Results:
fixed order of listing the folders (it used to be possible to define this, im
not sure if i found it in recent settings - eg: alphabetically, user-defined
order, ...)

[Bug 309486] New: [feature request][kmail] checksum SHA for IMAP mail, detect broken message body and redownload from server

2012-11-03 Thread Marek Otahal
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=309486

Bug ID: 309486
  Severity: major
   Version: 4.9.2
  Priority: NOR
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
Summary: [feature request][kmail] checksum SHA for IMAP mail,
detect broken message body and redownload from server
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux
  Reporter: markota...@gmail.com
  Hardware: Archlinux Packages
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Component: general
   Product: kmail2

This is a feature request for the old bug of accidentally missing (IMAP) email
bodies.
This is similar to bug https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=302337 but mine
just occured on 4.9.2 (gmail).
Related:
http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-technical-help-here/applications/474124-kmail-4-8-2-340-1-x86_64-eating-my-message-bodies.html
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=298962

This is even mentioned here:
http://userbase.kde.org/KMail/FAQs_Hints_and_Tips#You_have_empty_.27ghost-mails.27_in_your_inbox_.28or_other_folder.29
but the solution to 'Rebuild index' is not available anymore.

My proposal:
a) implement again the rebuild index
b) SHA checksums - when downloading email, store message ID together with the
hash of whole mail in some file.
Offer a redownload broken tool, that goes through all messages in given
folder, makes their hash, and if it does not match with the stored original
hash, redownload the message (messageID) from server again (for IMAP; it doesnt
have to be possible always, but for many cases-gmail-is.)

This could be a commandline tool, or a button in Kmail settings/folder menu.

The workaround for me is quite painful: delete whole .kmail folder, set-up
accounts again and download _all_ emails from servers again.
// maybe sometimes the ghost emails are ok again after restart, I'm not sure
if/how this happens.

Thank you for considering, mark

I can confirm this issue.

Started kmail; can move mails to different folders; start blender; cannot drag
anymore, in running kmail instance.

Note: logout and login (via KDM) fixes the problem - until blender is started
again...

[Bug 302677] New: [kmail] Composer: easier language selection, eg. dropbar like in LibreOffice Writer

When writing an email, for spellchecker to work a proper language must be set.

Now, it's done by SettingsSpellchecker

As the status bar is quite unused, I suggest there's a dropbar added to the
status bar where user can select language quickly. See how it's done eg. in
LibreOffice Writer and similar.

What is your opinion?

Best regards, Mark

[Bug 302679] New: [kmail] composer: better language identification

2012-06-28 Thread Marek Otahal
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=302679

Bug ID: 302679
  Severity: wishlist
   Version: 4.9 pre
  Priority: NOR
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
Summary: [kmail] composer: better language identification
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux
  Reporter: markota...@gmail.com
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Component: composer
   Product: kmail2

For spellchecker to work, proper language must be set. It would be nice if this
could be done seamlessly without user intervention - language identification.

Two techniques come on my head:
A/ determine by keyboard layout used
+ easy to code
+ instant
 - some languages you can type in latin (en keyb)

B/ some AI technique for language identification
there should be some tools available, some quick solution is: for each
supported lang, make a list of top 200 used words. For the new text you
type-pair it with list(lang) with most common words.
I could code that easily, I just dont know how to integrate that in kmail.
+does not suffer the latin issue: eg. Czech - words
dobrý (good)
český (czech)
člověk (person) are 100% correct

but usually can be written as dobry cesky clovek - which could be corrected by
spellcheck but is for sure czech lang. and people use it in emails.

USECASE:
mostly would benefit multilingual environments or workspaces where your native
language is other than English but corporate communication is in Eng.

REALISATION:
I suggested ways to language identification above, for GUI part I would like a
checkbox 'automatic language identification' in the Spellchecker menu. maybe a
choice between the keyboard and AI version.

DIFFICULTY:
should be easy :)

--- Comment #9 from Marek Otahal markotahal gmail com 2011-08-10 00:13:04 ---
ok, i also have the problem sending mail on smtp.
I tried #3 recreating the smtp account and #7 deleting all folders in
~/.local/share/.local-mail.directory and akonadictl restart - they get
recreated but mail does not go through.

my settings:
also arch, multiple smtp accounts-one selected as default, none working :/,
migration went wrong, passwords stored in kwallet but that seems to work well,
i use gpg signitures for mail but failures appear even without them.

I'm attaching output when kmail is run from console, most seems just like
nepomuk whinning, maybe last lines could mean something..??

Thank you, Mark

--- Comment #15 from Marek Otahal markotahal gmail com 2011-07-28 21:17:13

i can still confirm the bug on kde 4.7,
also Clark's solution (#9) with reconnecting to network (wicd here too) works
for me, yay! I think workaround with killall kded4 does basically the same
effect- so solid's fault?
Anyways, please vote for the bug, i hope it can be addressed soon as it's kinda
showstopper for kmail.
Thanks

I still cant send mail in kmail2 (2.1.0, kde 4.6.4)

My symptoms are like this:
http://userbase.kde.org/KMail/FAQs_Hints_and_Tips#KMail2_doesn.27t_send_mail
I re-added the IMAP account for sending mail, readded the akonadi dispatcher
agent, restarted akonadi and kmail but still cant send emails.
All i get is:
Could not initiate message transport. Possibly invalid transport.

Thanks, Mark

+1 here, kde 4.6.4, archlinux, i686.
I tried with signed/unsigned messages, if that matters.
Also, (not sure) but i think i was able to send mail some times, but then it
gets qued and never works again.

 - fetching messages to akonadi resources seems faster or same speed.
 - acting on a loaded message list is considerably faster! I mean like
scrolling the list, opening folded threads, displaying a msg after selecting it
in msg list is now almost instat ! Great work here.

cons:
 - one thing is (still) considerably slow and annoying, opening and displaying
the message list after selecting a folder with the mails.
On a folder with cca 3k mails this takes 2-3s on my atom, a folder with 22k
mails takes 22s! :(

I tried both settings in AppearanceMailing listConfigureAdvanced: Favor
interactivity/speed. With no speed gain.

Thank you, Mark

[Bug 275756] New: kmail: allow user-ordered view of folders

2011-06-15 Thread Marek Otahal
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=275756

Summary: kmail: allow user-ordered view of folders
   Product: kmail2
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: UI
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: markota...@gmail.com

Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.6.4)
OS:Linux

My email (imap) account uses many folders to arrange mails to.
It would be nice if kmail allowed me to manualy sort them and display them in
that order.

Reproducible: Always

Actual Results:
Folders are sorted alphabetically.

Expected Results:
I'd like user-defined manual ordering/display.
Eg now: Contacts,Inbox,Trash,Work (abc)
new: Inbox,Work,Contacts,Trash

I imagine it as a menu-item list in settings where users could move the order
of items/folders for specific email accounts.

Thanks, Mark

Hi,
mail accounts may contain many subfolders (inbox,sent,family,..), selecting a
folder with mail displays these emails in message list.
My idea is that selecting a folder would display messages in all its subfolders
too.
So selecting a top level folder of an account would list all mail in the
account.
(Maybe this could be added as a check-box option to settings, as loading lots
of mails could take some time).
Thanks, Mark

  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: UI
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: markota...@gmail.com

Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.6.4)
OS:Linux

eg. for my IMAP account on gmail, the ssl encryption is used to retrieve
messages.
Just start fetching new messages, click on the arrow to see more details on the
progress (progress bar on bottom right) and:
*kmail1 (kdepim 4.4) - shows red icon with cross for unsecured connections and
green with check mark for secure

*kmail2 (4.6.4) - shows unsecured icon everywhere.

I think it's because kmail is actually fetching the mails from aconadi server,
not from mail servers anymore. (and this is unsecured becouse its just local
connection)

So the security status should reflect the security settings used by aconadi
mail resources used to retrieve the emails.

Thanks, Mark

  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: folders
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: markota...@gmail.com

Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.6.4)
OS:Linux

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
have an unread message in Local folders outbox
have folder list view enabled (you see yours folder structure-eg local
forlders, imap account, pop3 etc..)
start kmail
right click on the outbox folder and the folder options/actions list appears

Actual Results:
outbox behaves like normal folder for the first time, that means there's Folder
properties, Mark all mail as read, etc options

Expected Results:
outbox should have its specific option Show Queued Messages visible (right off
for the first time).

The workaround: click on some other folder, eg Sent mail and the back on
Outbox, now the right-click list behaves correct, with Sent Queued Msgs
visible.

Actions as Check new mail, Reply, Forward have multiple variants (reply, reply
to all, reply to ML, forward inline,...).

The buttons in kmail smartly represent just one (most used option of these) but
contain an arrow in bottom-right corner which should list other possible
options. (I can do it now with MessageReply to All, etc..)

This behavior is very convenient and is typical in many other mail clients too.

It would be nice to have it working in kmail.

Thank you, Marek

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Click on the arrow in Reply button, it does not offer any selection.

Actual Results:
it does not offer any selection.

Expected Results:
*Clicking in the big area of the button does the default and most common
choice - simple reply,..

*Clicking on the arrow in corner pops-out a eg drop-down list with other
choices : Reply, Reply to All, reply to ML,...

--- Comment #1 from Marek Otahal markotahal gmail com 2011-01-26 12:57:43 ---
I can confirm this behavior on kde 4.5.95 and Archlinux. The performance of
kmail2 with akonadi backend is poorer compared to kmail(1), as far as I can
tell, for a longer time (since 4.6beta2).

For me, opening a folder with 1000+ emails takes some time (didn't ever happen
with previous kmail), I can see a 'waiting circle'. Also, mysqld kicks in and
takes quite a lot of cpu at the time.

I should say I'm running a netbook, but as said before, with older kmail it's
ok.

Thanks a lot and I hope this can be fixed.

I have to second that, it works for me (arch, kde4.6beta1), but i have to say
it takes some time (10s) till messages are marked as read.

[Bug 258544] New: [kmail] Configure Kmail window does not repaint correctly

2010-12-02 Thread Marek Otahal
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=258544

Summary: [kmail] Configure Kmail window does not repaint
correctly
   Product: kmail2
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: config dialog

kmail configure window repaint bug

Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.5.80)
OS:Linux

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Settings Configure KMail, switch between the tabs(options)

Actual Results:
sometimes the window doesn't repaint (items from two tabs mixed and shown
together) or shows wrong content (ie Acconts displays Identities)
See attached image

intel graphics, effects off(due to slowness bug), hiding and showing the
window doesn't help. No other issues w/ graphics. Widget style Oxygen and the
defaults...
And yes, I try running without hal, just upower, udisks, udev stuff - might it be
related to the (terrible) delays on Open/Save as file dialogs?

ok, thank you Christophe, due to wrongly set repos on my side akonadi was at
version 1.4.1, now it's 1.4.80 and the error is gone.
I still have some issues with migrating gmail in kopete, but that's different
story.

Radu: I guess you need latest akonadi for the new kmail, update to 4.6beta1

[Bug 243515] Message list display jumps to the very beginning after message is deleted

--- Comment #1 from Marek Laane bald smail ee 2010-07-29 20:34:12 ---
In my case it's even more quirkier: if there are more messages in the message
list it does show next one correctly until you scroll so that message you will
delete next and last unreadable message are shown at the same time - then the
view jumps to the beginning of the message list.

The window is updated anyway but the point of the bug report is that it should
be updated so the selected mail doesn't move and updating is from below -
contrary to the present behaviour when updating is from above.

Summary: Kontact is always launching when i run
kopete/korganizer
   Product: kontact
   Version: 4.4.2
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: markota...@gmail.com

Version:(using KDE 4.4.2)
OS:Linux
Installed from:Archlinux Packages

using the launcher (alt +f2) i start kopete/korganizer.

*what happens: both kopete/korganizer and kontact window appear (additionally
kontact launches kmail)

*expected behaviour: start only the required app (rationale: on my netbook,
kontact consumes more space on screen)

*reproducible: always.

I've searched settings for kontact and both apps and didn't find an option to
disable this. It didn't occur in previous kde releases.

*attachements: rc files for these apps

Thank you, Marek
