[korganizer] [Bug 341080] DBus interface : default calendar not selected for new event
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=341080 --- Comment #5 from nmset --- (In reply to gjditchfield from comment #4) > Does this problem still affect you? 1. Using either the UI, dbus-send (without --print-reply), qdbusviewer or qdbus, the new event dialog selects the calendar currently selected in the list of available calendars. That's probably the intended workflow. The confusion arises with the proposed 'Default calendar'; what would be its meaning and intent ? Remote calls via DBus are meant for automation, and there is no DBus function exposed to select a specific calendar in the UI, or I missed it. Perhaps, the menu item 'Choose as default calendar' should be better documented, or removed, or DBus functions exposed to list available calendars and either select one in UI, or pass it to 'openEventEditor'. 2. I don't remember how and why I was needing this automation pathway in 2014, and I have not been looking for alternatives. Meaning, it was for an unknown annoying situation at that time. Given that no one else needs this, current 'bug' is not really a bug and can be closed definitely. Regards. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[Bug 286307] Kmail crash
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=286307 --- Comment #68 from nmset 2012-01-30 18:21:50 --- (In reply to comment #67) > Just one more note, of course disable kmail options -> security -> disable > load > external refrerences from internet. fix the problem. True, I even gossip that developpers should never have yielded to the wish of ordinary users who love those tons of eye candies we see in HTML pages. However, they would prefer drop the product for anything else that accomplish their needs, like dropping Fedora 16 for some older distro with kmail 4.4 ! kmail is already embarked since long in rendering HTML inline, so kmail2 has to be efficient in what it has been doing rightly before. I'm no expert of Qt, it seems that Qt 4.8 relies heavily on QtWebkit 2.0 which is quite young and manages itself a network caching mechanism. KDE seems to have an older autonomous http caching API, and these two are perhaps in competitive play. This is just a guess, I don't argue it's the truth. Only expert KDE developpers can resolve this problem in my view, perhaps by better integrating recent changes in the Qt framework. For me, disabling the http cache in konqueror works perfectly : on one host with standard Fedora 16, on another host with Debian squeeze and a self compiled Qt 4.8 and a self compiled KDE 4.8. [Bug 286307] Kmail crash
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=286307 nmset changed: What|Removed |Added CC||nm...@netcourrier.com --- Comment #62 from nmset 2012-01-28 19:58:39 --- Looking at the code in qnetworkaccesshttpbackend.cpp:827, the crash seems related to cached http data being accessed. So I tried to disable completely the cache in konqueror settings and I could not reproduce the crash with these html mails (with automatic download of external references set to true in kmail2's settings). The http cache can be used in 3 modes and all these 3 modes constantly reproduce kmail2's crash. It may happen on first selection of an html email, or on n'th selection of the same html email in a single kmail2's session. qnetworkaccesshttpbackend.cpp lies deeply in QT. If the problem was there, we would expect konqueror to crash when the cache is turned on, bu this never happens. It seems to be related to some way kmail2 interacts with the html cache. All this if other users can confirm that disabling the http cache really prevents kmail2 from crashing on these futile http mails !
