[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1627408] Re: Severe graphics regression with mainline kernel v4.7.5 on Broadwell 5500U
I was unable to use apport-collect but I believe the information I have provided is sufficient. I am running Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS with kernel v4.7.5-generic on a x64 HP Spectre x360 with Broadwell GT2 5500 integrated graphics. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1627408 Title: Severe graphics regression with mainline kernel v4.7.5 on Broadwell 5500U Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I would like to report a severe graphics regression, involving frequent rainbow-glitching and flickering on a x64 computer with Intel Broadwell 5500U processor w/ integrated graphics. This issue was not present on kernel v4.7.4, which I will continue to use. Due to unfortunate issues with Broadwell integrated graphics support, virtually every kernel build in the 4.8 release chain as well as the newest v4.7.5 kernel have this issue. Dramatic multicolored patches and glitched areas appear frequently when using my computer with these kernels installed. The behavior is very similar to that of the Broadwell graphics issues present in kernel version 4.6.x. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1627408] [NEW] Severe graphics regression with mainline kernel v4.7.5 on Broadwell 5500U
Public bug reported: I would like to report a severe graphics regression, involving frequent rainbow-glitching and flickering on a x64 computer with Intel Broadwell 5500U processor w/ integrated graphics. Please fix this issue, I don't understand why NEWER kernels are actually causing significant graphical problems with older hardware. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1627408 Title: Severe graphics regression with mainline kernel v4.7.5 on Broadwell 5500U Status in linux package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I would like to report a severe graphics regression, involving frequent rainbow-glitching and flickering on a x64 computer with Intel Broadwell 5500U processor w/ integrated graphics. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1584042] Re: Hyper-V NIC cannot pass IPv6 UDP packets by default until protocol offload is disabled
Just now, I was writing memo of the Ubuntu VM in Hyper-V, and read again https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server-docs/compute/hyper-v /supported-ubuntu-virtual-machines-on-hyper-v , this time. I found that "TCP Segmentation and Checksum Offloads" are available on Windows Server operating system version " 2016, 2012 R2, 2012, 2008 R2". They do not mention UDP's. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1584042 Title: Hyper-V NIC cannot pass IPv6 UDP packets by default until protocol offload is disabled Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Hi, On a client server, I can't get a response from a name server in ipv6+udp. On the same server, it works fine in tcp. If I log on my name server, I can get a response from himself but, as a client, it can't get a response from another name server. here are the steps to reproduce : - Create a new server using Ubuntu server 16.04. Set it to use ipv4 and use your preferred name server. Select absolutely nothing as functionality. - check some nslookup and apt-get stuff to verify network is OK - add ipv6 to the interface and refer to an IPV6 nameserver. I have 3 and thats why I noticed the problem >> All 3 ipv6 nameservers are filling the 3 places in resolv.conf. - if you don't have 3 ipv6 nameservers, just add one and comment the line with the ipv4 name server. - verify your resolv.conf. Should only content ipv6 reference. - Now, you can't nslookup anymore... - add some tests : "dig @ipv4server google.com" works but "dig @ipv6server google.com" don't Here a more tests : Nameserver1 : Nameserver1.MyDomain : XXX.YYY.ZZZ.250 / ::::250 ClientStandAloneServer.MyDomain : XXX.YYY.ZZZ.209 / ::::209 With IPV4 # dig @XXX.YYY.ZZZ.226 www.google.fr /var/log/named/queries.log on Nameserver1: 20-May-2016 12:25:02.834 queries: info: client XXX.YYY.ZZZ.209#35116 (www.google.fr): query: www.google.fr IN A +E (XXX.YYY.ZZZ.226) Tcp Dump on Nameserver1: 12:25:02.834092 IP StandAloneServer.MyDomain.35116 > Nameserver1.MyDomain.domain: 62949+ [1au] A? www.google.fr. I am also affected by this bug. How can I help? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1424088 Title: No resume on ThinkPad Helix -- system keeps sleeping Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: Lenovo ThinkPad Helix is a "Convertable Ultrabook" with an Intel Core-M ("Broadwell") processor. The tablet can come off the dock-with- keyboard and latch to it as a cover. Attempting a suspend is apparently successful. The LED (on the back of the tablet pulsates). But neither attaching the tablet in its open position nor pressing the power button will wake the system to resume. The LED continues to pulsate and the system continues to be unreachable by Ethernet. As a "workaround" I can suspend with pm-suspend-hybrid and then when it does not resume I can force power off and turn it back on. This causes it to thaw. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1626564] Re: 4.8 regression: SLAB is being used instead of SLUB
In case anyone is interested: I got this far with the kernel bisection, but can only continue on Tuesday, maybe Monday night. ** Attachment added: "bisection - thus far" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1626564/+attachment/4748136/+files/bla1.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1626564 Title: 4.8 regression: SLAB is being used instead of SLUB Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in linux source package in Yakkety: Fix Released Bug description: We're seeing hundreds of kernel worker threads being spawned with some actions, for example, after booting the desktop and hutting the brightness keys causes this. On investigation, this occurs when CONFIG_SLAB is being used. 1. Ubuntu traditionally uses CONFIG_SLUB, so we should use that instead of CONFIG_SLAB (why was it changed for Yakkety?) 2. With CONFIG_SLUB I cannot reproduce the issue of the hundreds for worker threads 3 CONFIG_SLUB seems more performant on the boot too over SLAB. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1626564] Re: 4.8 regression: SLAB is being used instead of SLUB
Note: For kernel work, I only use and compile kernels from the main kernel.org git branch. I steal the Ubuntu kernel configuration. The issue of a high number of kworker threads does not exist in kernel 4.6, but does in 4.7-rc1. When using "SLUB" it is a little difficult to detect on my Yakkety test Laptop, however it is fairly easy to detect on my 16.04 server. When using "SLAB" it is trivial to detect on either computer. A bisection is going to take: "Bisecting: 5788 revisions left to test after this (roughly 13 steps)" Which I can only get to on about Tuesday or Wednesday. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1626564 Title: 4.8 regression: SLAB is being used instead of SLUB Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in linux source package in Yakkety: Fix Released Bug description: We're seeing hundreds of kernel worker threads being spawned with some actions, for example, after booting the desktop and hutting the brightness keys causes this. Please re-enable the CONFIG_SLUB allocator as per the 4.4. Xenial configs. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 600517] Re: dkms is not processing vboxdrv, must do manually
** Also affects: dkms Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to dkms in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/600517 Title: dkms is not processing vboxdrv, must do manually Status in DKMS: New Status in dkms package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Binary package hint: dkms Using the latest version of Oracle Virtual Box from their repositories, every day I have to run /etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup because the ubuntu DKMS package is not doing it's job. This bug also exists using the VirutalBox package from the Ubuntu Repositories so this is not an Oracle Vbox error but a DKMS error. Expected behaviour DKMS compiles the VirutalBox kernel driver automatically and recompiles automatically at each kernel change then saves this kernel driver as a device /dev/vboxdrv so that it's usable at each boot. What really happens: The dkms package does not complie the driver or give access, so every time the machine (HP tx2 1050ed laptop) reboots, the kernel driver has to be compiled manually (at 7 minutes of lost productivity) ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 Package: dkms 2.1.1.2-2fakesync1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-23.37-generic 2.6.32.15+drm33.5 Uname: Linux 2.6.32-23-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: fglrx wl Architecture: amd64 Date: Thu Jul 1 09:39:35 2010 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.04 "Lucid Lynx" - Beta amd64 (20100318) PackageArchitecture: all ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, user) LANG=nl_NL.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: dkms To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/dkms/+bug/600517/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages Post to : kernel-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1626269] Comment bridged from LTC Bugzilla
--- Comment From hbath...@in.ibm.com 2016-09-24 08:25 EDT--- Dump filtering for kernels v4.7+ is failing because of kernel commit 0139aa7b7fa1 which changed _count to _refcount in struct page. The below makedumpfile tool commit fixes this: commit 2c21d4656e8d3c2af2b1e14809d076941ae69e96 Author: Vitaly Kuznetsov Date: Fri Jun 17 18:41:26 2016 +0900 [PATCH v2] Support _count -> _refcount rename in struct page _count member was renamed to _refcount in linux commit 0139aa7b7fa12 ("mm: rename _count, field of the struct page, to _refcount") and this broke makedumpfile. The reason for making the change was to find all users accessing it directly and not through the recommended API. I tried suggesting to revert the change but failed, I see no other choice than to start supporting both _count and _refcount in makedumpfile. Signed-off-by: Vitaly Kuznetsov -- Makedumpfile filtered dump successfully when the above commit is applied on top of makedumpfile_1.6.0-2 # ./makedumpfile -l -d 31 /var/crash/201609230347/vmcore.201609230347 dump The kernel version is not supported. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1445376] Re: A2DP skips when conneted to handsfree device
Hi all, Me too Ican notice a great improvement by updating OTA13. Many thanks fo make my phone being able to: -pair immediantly with in-car hands free kac bt200. -downloading and sync contacts phonebooks. I can also browse contacts from my car dissplay controller, and start a call too. - starting as well as receiving a call by ringing tone and muting car audi systems. But phone call audio still does not work. I neinther both direction. I always need to switch manually from bt audio to phone internal speaker. Always BQ E5 HD Ota 13. BR D -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to bluez in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1445376 Title: A2DP skips when conneted to handsfree device Status in Canonical System Image: Incomplete Status in bluez package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: When I connect my Aquaris E4.5 to my car's handsfree device (Funkwerk Ego Flash) via Bluetooth I experience a skipping problem when playing sound files through A2DP. Half a second for each second there is a pause. The rest of that half second seems to clear a buffer which results in "extra fast" audio. To illustrate, listening to a podcast I would expect to hear something like "bla bla bla". However, what I do get to hear sounds more like "flapflapflap - pause - flapflapflap - pause - ...". When I connect my Aquaris to my A2DP speakers at home, the audio is perfect. Also, handsfree telephony in my car works like a charm. So I guess it's just the combination of A2DP while connected to the handsfree device which causes the trouble. In the past I've used several phones with the Funkwerk device (always with handsfree *and* A2DP functionality) including an N900 running Maemo. There have never been any problems with those. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1626564] Re: 4.8 regression: SLAB is being used instead of SLUB
>From my experiments, it seems the issue is not 100% solved, but is much much >much less probable. On my Yakkety test Laptop, if I go back to kernel 4.4.0-9136-generic I can not create the high number of kworker threads. If I boot with kernel 4.8.0-16-generic, I can create the high number of kworker threads, however it is rather difficult. Please re-enable the CONFIG_SLUB allocator as per the 4.4. Xenial configs.
