[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1896091] Re: [i915] Noise-like lines of graphics corruption when moving windows in Xorg sessions
I can also confirm that on 5.8.0-34 I am getting this bug still as well. It *seems* to mostly start happening after resuming from suspend, but its too random to say for sure. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1896091 Title: [i915] Noise-like lines of graphics corruption when moving windows in Xorg sessions Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Triaged Status in linux source package in Groovy: Fix Committed Bug description: == SRU Justification == [Impact] Noise-like lines of graphics corruption when moving windows in Xorg sessions. [Fix] Revert "UBUNTU: SAUCE: drm/i915: Synchronize active and retire callbacks". [Test] Daniel van Vugt confirmed reverting the commit fixes the issue. I can also reproduce the issue on one of my system, I can confirm it fixes the issue too. [Where problems could occur] Race condition the commit solves may appear again. The commit was reverted and replaced by an upstream fix, which is already included in 5.8. So it should be rather safe here. == Original Bug Report == I left my desktop (T480s thinkpad docked to ThinkVision P24h-10) unattended for a while, and then got the error message and now have funny lines on activity, e.g. red lines flashing on top of gnome-shell bar when switching windows, or white blocks/lines around typing text. This is the second or third time it happened, reboot fixes it until the error pops up again. So we can expect kernel v5.11 to fix this issue without any additional work. Before the release of v5.11, you are suggested to use #189 to save your touchpad. The complete solution is three patches, - 47a0001436352c9853d72bf2071e85b316d688a2 ("pinctrl: amd: remove debounce filter setting in IRQ type setting") - 06abe8291bc31839950f7d0362d9979edc88a666 ("pinctrl: amd: fix incorrect way to disable debounce filter") - 8dcb7a15a585b6d0fee15751ce11d7a68cfedd56 ("gpiolib: acpi: Take into account debounce settings") The first two patches has reached the stable tree. Re: [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1899882] Re: hdmi monitor on
Hi Koba, 5.6.0-1036-oem is much more polite than any of the 5.10 candidates you have provided. 5.6.0-1036-oem boots to the correct configuration and usually recovers from suspend to the correct configuration. Even better, it doesn't turn off the dock when suspending or recovering from suspend. My current configuration is mirrored with both the external monitor at 60 Hz and the laptop screen at 120 Hz, both set to 1920x1080. I would rather have the two screens be separate but the mirrored configuration seems to be a bit more stable when recovering from suspend. BTW, a number of months ago I updated my dock with WD19FirmwareUpdateLinux_01.00.14. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1903388] Re: Failure to write to NVMe disk soon after boot (APST-related)
I have the same problem, also on a Thinkpad T570. It also fails with v5.10-rc3 (5.10.3-051003-generic) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1903388 Title: Failure to write to NVMe disk soon after boot (APST-related) Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Hi all, This one is similar to #1805816 and #1678184 (one was fixed, other closed). Symptoms: During regular use, system starts failing after 10m - 1hr after start. Icons start disappearing, writing to disk fails. In-memory operations still work for a while (switching windows, streaming video calls, typing). After some time the entire system crashes, with a Black Screen Of Death constantly looping: --- EXT4-fs error (device nvme0n1p5) ext4_find_entry:1455: inode #4594258: comm gmain: reading directory lblock 0 [... same repeats for 8 times on average] systemd-journald[439]: Failed to write entry (9 items, 270 bytes), ignoring: Read-only file system [... repeats for 10 times on average] --- Probable causes: Updated both kernel and BIOS 2 days ago. Unable to determine, which one caused the change. Don't know how to determine which kernel and bios I was running before the update. The complete solution is three patches, - 47a0001436352c9853d72bf2071e85b316d688a2 ("pinctrl: amd: remove debounce filter setting in IRQ type setting") - 06abe8291bc31839950f7d0362d9979edc88a666 ("pinctrl: amd: fix incorrect way to disable debounce filter") - 8dcb7a15a585b6d0fee15751ce11d7a68cfedd56 ("gpiolib: acpi: Take into account debounce settings") The first two patches has reached the stable tree. changed /etc/default/grub and attached. Also attached /var/log/dmesg The external display does not turn on at boot but by requesting different "Display" GUI settings the dock is rebooted (Ethernet connection is stopped and started) and then sometimes the external display is started but usually with incorrect settings such as wrong aspect ratios and mirrored instead of separate. Also, the mouse (not attached to the dock) becomes unresponsive for several seconds at a time. -- John On Tue, Dec 29, 2020 at 8:34 AM John Dunlap wrote: > A while back that was some work-around. So i left the PC on this morning and now i check - i still have this error 3 times even with the oem kernel. I'm not sure if this is the reason for yesterday's frequent disconnecting, but it is the only wifi error with red error i saw, so it's worth fixing it before checking if the issue persists. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux-firmware in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1909499 Title: iwlwifi :03:00.0: No beacon heard and the time event is over already... [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1909499] Re: iwlwifi 0000:03:00.0: No beacon heard and the time event is over already...
Okay so i'm running with the linux-image-oem-20.04-edge kernel now. Another thing i should mention is that here currently it is morning. in KSystemLog i couldn't see the beacon error with the standard 5.4 kernel this morning, only the entries from yesterday night. Then i installed this kernel you mentioned and rebooted, now can't see even them, so no beacon errors. Not sure that causes the issues, maybe at night there are more people around with their routers, interference or whatever it is called and the signal might be lower?? I'm not much into drivers and waves so... :-\ -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux-firmware in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1909499 Title: iwlwifi :03:00.0: No beacon heard and the time event is over already...
