[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1069350] Re: suspicious /.rpmdb root directory
Looks like DKMS (via kernel post-install hook, via dpkg, via apt-get) is responsible for this: root 18414 0.0 0.0 27848 3864 pts/12 S+ 22:35 0:00 /usr/bin/perl /var/lib/dpkg/info/linux-image-3.13.0-8-generic.postinst configure 3.13.0-8.27 root 18422 0.0 0.0 4332 616 pts/12 S+ 22:35 0:00 run-parts --verbose --exit-on-error --arg=3.13.0-8-generic --arg=/boot/vmlinuz-3.13.0-8-generic /etc/kernel/postinst.d root 18437 0.0 0.0 4428 792 pts/12 S+ 22:35 0:00 /bin/sh /usr/lib/dkms/dkms_autoinstaller start 3.13.0-8-generic root 18440 1.0 0.0 15256 2764 pts/12 S+ 22:35 0:00 /bin/bash /usr/sbin/dkms autoinstall --kernelver 3.13.0-8-generic root 18444 0.0 0.0 15256 1760 pts/12 S+ 22:35 0:00 /bin/bash /usr/sbin/dkms autoinstall --kernelver 3.13.0-8-generic root 18445 0.0 0.0 14064 1192 pts/12 S+ 22:35 0:00 /bin/bash /usr/bin/rpm -qf /lib/modules/3.13.0-8-generic The attached patch fixes DKMS to not call rpm to determine the architecture since that is quite useless. ** Patch added: "Disables RPM call for DKMS" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rpm/+bug/1069350/+attachment/3990223/+files/disable-rpm.patch ** Also affects: dkms (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to dkms in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1069350 Title: suspicious /.rpmdb root directory Status in rpm package manager: Opinion Status in “dkms” package in Ubuntu: New Status in “rpm” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I have the following directory structure on my system which conflicts to the LSB standard: ls -ld /.rpmdb/{,*} drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Okt 21 2011 /.rpmdb/ -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 8192 Okt 21 2011 /.rpmdb/Basenames -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 8192 Okt 21 2011 /.rpmdb/Conflictname -rw-r--r-- 1 root root24576 Apr 27 00:52 /.rpmdb/__db.001 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 4096000 Apr 27 00:52 /.rpmdb/__db.002 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 83894272 Apr 27 00:52 /.rpmdb/__db.003 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 811008 Apr 27 00:52 /.rpmdb/__db.004 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 8192 Okt 21 2011 /.rpmdb/Dirnames -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 8192 Okt 21 2011 /.rpmdb/Group -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 8192 Okt 21 2011 /.rpmdb/Installtid -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 8192 Okt 21 2011 /.rpmdb/Name -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 8192 Okt 21 2011 /.rpmdb/Obsoletename -rw-r--r-- 1 root root12288 Okt 21 2011 /.rpmdb/Packages -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 8192 Okt 21 2011 /.rpmdb/Providename -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 8192 Okt 21 2011 /.rpmdb/Requirename -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 8192 Okt 21 2011 /.rpmdb/Sha1header -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 8192 Okt 21 2011 /.rpmdb/Sigmd5 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 8192 Okt 21 2011 /.rpmdb/Triggername Afaik, this directory belongs to rpm or alien. Maybe it appears because of a lack of environment variables (e.g. $HOME not set) in particular situations. As you can see in the listing, the directory is not used frequently, but I'm not sure if it's save to delete it. Maybe the problem is already solved in the current version of ubuntu (at last the time the files were touched I was running Ubuntu 11.10), but I think it's important to have this bug registered so other users can find it. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1205210] Re: Oops with Logitech Bluetooth keyboard; sysfs: cannot create duplicate filename
** Summary changed: - BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at IP: [] __ticket_spin_lock+0x9/0x30 + Oops with Logitech Bluetooth keyboard; sysfs: cannot create duplicate filename -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1205210 Title: Oops with Logitech Bluetooth keyboard; sysfs: cannot create duplicate filename Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: System details: Dell Inspiron E1505. 2GB RAM, 200 GB SSD. I have a Logitech Dinovo Edge keyboard which I am able to pair, connect and then use. Every once in a while I get this kernel oops and it drops to text. Its possible to get back to X with Ctrl+Alt+f1 and the C-A-f7. However, the bt keyboard then no longer works. Rebooting the machine results in a hang. The only recourse so far seems to be to hard reboot. --- ApportVersion: 2.9.2-0ubuntu8.1 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USERPID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: uv 2336 F pulseaudio DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.04 HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=e26f02d0-0462-4873-88bb-9a582b4cfbb8 InstallationDate: Installed on 2013-04-27 (89 days ago) InstallationMedia: Kubuntu 13.04 "Raring Ringtail" - Release amd64 (20130424) MachineType: Dell Inc. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1206900] Re: 046d:c52f [HP Elite 7100 Microtower PC] Kernel crash with Logitech K760 Bluetooth keyboard
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1205210 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1205210 ** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 1205210 Oops with Logitech Bluetooth keyboard; sysfs: cannot create duplicate filename -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1206900 Title: 046d:c52f [HP Elite 7100 Microtower PC] Kernel crash with Logitech K760 Bluetooth keyboard Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: I have a Logitech K760 Bluetooth keyboard. This keyboard has three buttons that allow you to connect to three different machines via Bluetooth. I have button three mapped to my Ubuntu box. When I hit button one and then quickly hit button three, the kernel crashes. If I wait a long period of time, it does not crash. The logs (see end for full trace) seem to indicate that there is a problem with the kernel trying to create file that already exists: sysfs: cannot create duplicate filename '/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.0/usb2/2-1/2-1.7/2-1.7:1.0/bluetooth/hci0/hci0:21' I assume this is happening because the kernel has yet to clean up after the disconnection before the device tries to reconnect. My current workaround is to wait a while before hitting button 3 when I accidentally hit button 1. It would be nice if I reduce the timeout before the kernel cleans up the after the device to shorten the period of time I have to wait. Here I have hit button 1 and waited a few seconds: Jul 31 07:25:01 LD-cowens kernel: [ 199.114124] power_supply hid-00:1f:20:3d:cf:09-battery: driver failed to report `capacity' property: -5 Jul 31 07:25:06 LD-cowens kernel: [ 204.105779] power_supply hid-00:1f:20:3d:cf:09-battery: driver failed to report `capacity' property: -5 Then I hit button 3: Jul 31 07:25:31 LD-cowens kernel: [ 229.279867] hid-generic 0005:046D:B316.0006: unknown main item tag 0x0 Jul 31 07:25:31 LD-cowens kernel: [ 229.293875] input: Logitech K760 as /devices/pci:00/:00:1d.0/usb2/2-1/2-1.7/2-1.7:1.0/bluetooth/hci0/hci0:21/input16 Jul 31 07:25:31 LD-cowens kernel: [ 229.294115] hid-generic 0005:046D:B316.0006: input,hidraw4: BLUETOOTH HID v1.1b Keyboard [Logitech K760] on 00:02:72:dd:e9:e1 Hit button 1 and wait a few seconds: Jul 31 07:25:47 LD-cowens kernel: [ 244.558409] power_supply hid-00:1f:20:3d:cf:09-battery: driver failed to report `capacity' property: -5 Jul 31 07:25:52 LD-cowens kernel: [ 249.550056] power_supply hid-00:1f:20:3d:cf:09-battery: driver failed to report `capacity' property: -5 Hit button 3: Jul 31 07:26:15 LD-cowens kernel: [ 272.731818] hid-generic 0005:046D:B316.0007: unknown main item tag 0x0 Jul 31 07:26:15 LD-cowens kernel: [ 272.770990] input: Logitech K760 as /devices/pci:00/:00:1d.0/usb2/2-1/2-1.7/2-1.7:1.0/bluetooth/hci0/hci0:21/input17 Jul 31 07:26:15 LD-cowens kernel: [ 272.771187] hid-generic 0005:046D:B316.0007: input,hidraw4: BLUETOOTH HID v1.1b Keyboard [Logitech K760] on 00:02:72:dd:e9:e1 Hit button 1 and then button 3 without waiting long: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1206900/+attachment/3759322/+files/crashlog --- ApportVersion: 2.9.2-0ubuntu8.1 Architecture: i386 AudioDevicesInUse: USERPID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC1: cowens 1923 F pulseaudio /dev/snd/controlC0: cowens 1923 F pulseaudio CRDA: Error: command ['iw', 'reg', 'get'] failed with exit code 1: nl80211 not found.
