[Koha] What's up with That?

2013-12-20 Thread Phillip Ponchot
I installed Ubuntu 12.04 and then following the instructions on the Koha
website, I installed Koha not once but three times while trying to get it to
work.

On the third time I installed Lynx and tried to connect to Koha directly on the
box but all I could get was what looked like an apache web page as the
webbrowser said: "Its working but there's no data when I tried to connect
using the localhost and then the server IP Address.

The files that I had to configure look like this:

koha-sites.conf:

DOMAIN=".livingston.org"
INTERPORT="80"
INTRAPREFIX=""
INTRASUFFIX="=intra"
DEFAULTSQL=""
OPACPORT="80"
OPACPREFIX=""
OPACSUFFIX=""
ZEBRA_MARC_FORMAT="marc21"
ZEBRA_LANGUAGE="en"

I can ping the server so the network card interface is working.

My Hosts File:

127.0.0.1   LocalHost
192.168.0.3   Web1.Livingston.org  Web1

Listen 80
and NameVirtualHost *: 80 is in the ports.conf.

My interface file and ifconfig shows that 192.168.0.3 is assigned to this
server and the netmask and gateway is correct.

personally, I think that although the install was good, Koha is not stating. (I
did reboot the server just in case). I followed the instructions to the T!

Does anyone have an ideas? I did not disable the primary web site as I didn't
know if I was going to need it later, but according to one set of instructions,
this is not necessary. Would it be better for me to download the Koha install
tar.gz file and install from it?

I tried connecting by:

lynx http://192.168.0.3:80 and also tried 8080.

I'm not quite sure at this point as to where I would start looking to find out
why Koha is not working.

Thanks,

Phillip

[Koha] problem with bulk imported data

2013-12-20 Thread Babu_koha
Hi,

in bulk import of data, i have used the tags *942$c and 952$y* for Item

 but they not displayed in staff client and opac search.

in edit items screen, selected the *Item Type* as *Books* from the drop down
list and saved.

then the values automatically displayed in staff client and opac search.

Re: [Koha] Conference stuff

2013-12-20 Thread Elaine Bradtke
Just saying, I will probably never be able to make a conference in August.
Flights and hotels are more expensive, it is the only time we have reliably
decent weather here*, and my other life as a performer at summer festivals
gets in the way. If it were mid-week, I could get to it on the city bus or
by bicycle, and I didn't have to plan it. . . I might make it. It could
well be that the host picks the best time for their locality and then sees
how many others can make it. I thought KohaCon worked pretty well running
in tandem with the Reno library conference this year. Rather than avoiding
these things, perhaps we should embrace them?
At any rate, I look forward to being able to attend when I can, which is
more likely if it's on the same continent.

That being said, I offer once again to host a Pacific Northwest Koha Conference
anytime y'all want here in Portland. We've got a beautiful meeting room now
with several hotels in the area in a wide range of prices. Perhaps we could
get someone to come in and teach us all to program in PERL so we can all become
debuggers? Half conference/half hackfest? May or September?

How's the fishin' up there? I think I could do a trip to Portland.

I'd like to see the sandbox demo again a couple of times. Someday I
might have time to process a few signoffs.

May is good, September is dicey.

Re: [Koha] problem with bulk imported data

2013-12-20 Thread Elaine Bradtke
Not sure if your problem is the same, but we had a similar problem with
the 942 $c and a bulk import. The trouble boiled down to this field being
controlled by
 Home › Administration › Item types administration. You have to be sure
the imported 942 $c matches the code in the left hand column exactly. We
had "Books" in that field. But what it wanted to see was "BK".
Hope this helps

Re: [Koha] problem with bulk imported data

2013-12-20 Thread John Palmer
I concur with Elaine Bradke, However, I've found that using the field 952$y
for Koha item types (as defined in System Administration → Item types and
Circulation Codes. e.g. BK for Books) is successful on bulk imports. I've
not had success changing any of the 942 field directly using a bulk import.

This is a helpful reference page for creating your bulk import source data:
