[Koha] Ask for Koha platform

2017-02-28 Thread autolib

Dear Sirs,
I am writing to you from Lyuben Karavelov Regional Library - Ruse. We
would like to use your Koha platform, but we have several questions
first.
We would like to know if there is any way that the data we enter can
also be saved in our servers because if we encounter some internet
related problem we would not have the access to them
1-How can we transfer the data that is stored in our local servers to
your platform? Can you help us?
2-Is your platform capable of using multiple languages especially
Bulgarian, Cyrillic?
3-Is there any limit of how many of our employees can use your platform
simultaneously?

Thank you!

[Koha] Koha catalogue search not working

2017-02-28 Thread i.pr...@zigzagee.com

Hi,

I have attempted to perform a koha-rebuild zebra -f -a -b -v $Instance
in order to solve a search not
working problem. The result is shown below. The search still doesn't
work but
I am not sure if this is an indexing issue or is related to an issue I
have seen on the MARC
bibliographic framework test following a bit of trawling through the
Koha issue list when

I found my problem to be very similar to this one:

http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/Koha-reindex-with-Zebra-doesn-t-work-td5642993.html

I also experience the same MARC test errors. Unfortunately that thread
seems to recommend
a reinstallation which I would prefer to avoid since I am pretty sure
the UNIMARC flavour was chosen

 throughout my original installation.

Re: [Koha] Installing Koha on LInux Mint VERSION="18.1 (Serena)"

2017-02-28 Thread Daniel F. Twum
Hi Zeno,

Finally I can declare success installing Koha on Linux Mint. Please see
attached screenshot.

Creating the database was a bit of a challenge since the installer.pl kept
timing out. I had to increase Timeout in the /etc/apache2/apache2.conf to
 myusbpc-XPS-8700 koha_ofosualibrary # grep Timeout /etc/apache2/apache2.conf
# Timeout: The number of seconds before receives and sends time out.
Timeout 6000

Thanks for your help.

I suggest you to read all web page

continue

Remeber that your version of Linux Mint uses MySQL 5.7 so check this
paragraph:

Generaly speaking use Linux Mint only if you know it very well.
Koha is tested on Debian and Ubuntu, we probaly have very little
experience on Linux Mint.

Who exactly are you asking about a platform? There are lots of different
Koha vendors, some offer hosted solutions.
Is this what you are talking about?
If so, you are probably better off contacting the vendor directly.

Re: [Koha] SQL query to enable all patrons messaging preferences

2017-02-28 Thread Liz Rea
Hi Vimal,

There is a script provided in Koha to do this, on the packages it will
be at /usr/share/koha/bin/maintenance/borrowers-force-messaging-defaults

To use it, set the defaults for each category within the Patron
categories editor in the Koha administration, then use this script to
apply those defaults to all borrowers. Be aware that if you have
borrowers that have personally set these settings already, using the
tool to force defaults will override their preferences. This can lead to
angry borrowers.

I hope this helps,

Cheers,
Liz Rea

Re: [Koha] Exporting batchs in card creator

2017-02-28 Thread Liz Rea
Hi Tony,

In your batch, do you have titles that have macrons or other special
characters in them? In older versions of Koha I recall there might have
been a problem with special characters in the label creator.

If you do have titles with special characters, removing them from the
batch might solve the immediate problem of the batch not printing. You
might have to do the labels with special characters manually.

Cheers,
Liz

Re: [Koha] Installing Koha on LInux Mint VERSION="18.1 (Serena)

2017-02-28 Thread Daniel F. Twum
I did not "down-grade" but rather installed MariaDB. The final database size of
table creation and population was:

The default timeout was not long enough so I kept getting timeouts during the
table creation. I experimented with different values and finally
used 6000 to see what will happen. That's when the table creation finally
completed, and population also went to success as well.

I am running on a Dell desktop with i7 processor and 16GB of RAM. During the
install, I had Firefox as the only UI running.
First few times I was running top to see what was happening but during the
success runs, I stopped running so missed out on the swap business.
Load average was higher than normal.

install, I had Firefox as the only UI running.
First few times I was running top to see what was happening but during the
success runs, I stopped running so missed out on the swap business.
Load average was higher than normal.

Did you "down-grade" MySQL to 5.5 / 5.6 or change to MariaDB? How big is
your database, and how much memory was available? An hour and three
quarters seems inordinately long, although a lack of multi-core
threading might be a cause. Did this spill over into swap?

Ref. point for us is that any MySql op that lasts for more than a couple
of seconds (with 16 Gigs RAM on reasonably fast 8-core systems) is
suspect as being badly coded.

Mint, per se, shouldn't be a stumbling point -- it's only a desktop, and
should have minimal impact on the underlying Debian/Ubuntu system.

Best - Paul
