As I tried to get off the kr net and haven't made it yet I have posted all my KR2 stuff on EBay if anyone is looking and it will go cheap. The FAA also says that we are responsible to self assess ourselves on rather or not we are medically fit to fly rather we qualify for a medical or not, and if you have failed a FAA medical you do not qualify for LSA. I would not want to be on the wrong end of somebody's mishap flying when they should not be. It's my understanding that the FAA say's that your aircraft is what you say it is. If you call it a powered glider you can fly it without a medical. You also can fly at any speed and at night. You do have to have a glider endorsement on your ticket.
KR> Canopy Gluing- Epoxy
The key is to roughen the plastic to the point that the epoxy has something to hold to, just like Mark L. said! -- I talked to a friend that make aircraft Canopies, He told me at Polyester resin is the BEST to stick to the canopy. You can run a layer of say 2 to 3 inches tape around the inner and out areas where you wish to glue, when dry use epoxy to glue to the polyester strip. PLEASE try epoxy and polyester on a test cut off from the canopy, ( leaving a length of tape as a handle) you will see you can PULL the epoxy off the canopy, but not the polyester. KR> KR2S for sale
I'm in kind of the same situation after my replacement shoulder surgery and being told never anything over 5 pounds and nothing repetitive so I have both my KR2s and Kr2 kits on EBay as well as the almost completed KR2S Corvair. Anyone interested check it quit on EBay. la...@lebanair.com -Original Message- From: krnet-boun...@mylist.net [mailto:krnet-boun...@mylist.net] On Behalf Of John Godwin Sent: Wednesday, February 16, 2011 6:34 AM To: KRnet Cc: aimeegodwin Subject: KR> KR2S for sale Well guys, I hate to do it but I need to get rid of my KR2s. After I had my heart attach last year I don't want to keep jumping through the FAA stress test hoop every year to keep my medical. What I have is a Langford KR2S extended 14 inches with AS5046 Airfoils. I bought the Wix kit when I started so most everything is there to finish the Airframe plywood, both mahogany and birch spruce for outer wing spars foam ETC. Currently she is in the boat stage with completed tail section. I have also fabricated much of the control assemblies bell cranks as well as the WAF which were CNC cut at a local shop. Landing gear attach fittings also CNC cut and many many other items , to much to list here. I am keeping my 3 corvair cores for use in my future LSA homebuilt. All the parts and assemblies are here at my shop in Cameron SC, if you would like to look at them . I can also send any pictures you would like to see if you contact me off list. I will not separate these parts, mainly because I will have to remove a wall in my back room to get her out, so it's all or nothing. The workmanship is excellent this would give someone a huge head start in building there KR for about the cost of the basic kit. I really hate to give her up, but it's time to move on to something low and slow. You didn't miss a thing, but a few builders tend to build to their "automotive roots", so the brake systems end up having to be bled like a car. -Jeff Scott Los Alamos, NM -- Original Message -- Gee - what am I missing here - I was always taught to fill/bleed aircraft brakes from the bottom up - every aircraft brake assembly I've ever dealt with had the "bleeder/filler" at the very bottom.
