Dan This might sound funny, but have you checked out he Legacy web site? thay have a number of training videos that are pretty good, ( and FREE) I agree with Mac. the best way to use the machine is to USE THE MACHINE. PLAY and make some Wood chips is the best way to get a feel of what the machine can do. The 1 1/4" flat bottomed, Cleaning bit is the workhorse of the machine, it is used for most of your roughing process. Free wood, old 2x4's and fire place wood are some of the best learning tools that I can think of to start off with. Start with light cuts,and move on form there. If you have the motor drive, ( I think you said you did?) you will need the .25 gear set to slow down the speed of travel of the machine to make a clean round spindle. Spinning the wood by hand and letting the motor move the carriage is the easyest way to get a clean cut. (Im talking about a round spindle, nothing fancy.) Once you get your part round then you can add details like ropes Using the table or flat work is just like using an Overhead router, pretty simple in concept. So Go Play and have a good time.
