[LegacyUG] Assigned Sources screen Column Width

2016-12-09 Thread ChasH
On the Assigned Sources screen (from the Family Screen > Source Icon
>).On the table, is there a way to adjust the column widths
semi-permanently. Currently I can set the width of each column so that
the Detail column is expanded, but each time I get back into the
Assigned Sources page I have to reset the column widths again?

Re: [LegacyUG] How best to keep track

2014-10-05 Thread ChasH
I like the event method that has been suggested. In addition to marking
it "private" and "exclude from potential problems", you may also want to
exclude "Show a description field" & "show a place'? So I just record a
date. The date represents the last time I checked/verified FamilySearch
Family Tree with Legacy Family Tree. In addition, I then customized one
of the fields on the family page with my "FSFT & LFT checked" Event. I
use the display name, "FS Checked". Now anytime I am on the family page
I can easily see the last time I did a through review between the two.
Of course if needed, once you have your event set up you could search
for that event-with a date or without a date etc. or go the tagging route.

Re: [LegacyUG] When to use AKAs

2014-01-09 Thread ChasH
I customize the family view with AKA1 (1st alternate name) and AKA2 (2nd
alternate name), then I list all the different Given names and spellings
in AKA1 separating each with a space. (Heinrich Henry)I do the same for
Surnames in AKA2. (Ladendorff Landenderf) That way I can easily see all
the name variations used by the husband/wife on the family view. It
works for me. Add sources to the Name as usual bolding the variation on
the source detail.

Couple of points, no you do not have to be a member of any particular
church but you do need a FamilySearch Family Tree account to login and
use the system. goto FamilySearch.org to set one up (free & no strings
