Would Legacy see a difference between Leg8PAT and LEG8PAT ?

RE: [LegacyUG] Legacy unable to recognize file

2014-02-09 Thread Bob Austen
Hi Pat,

I’m not quite sure what you did by “importing” the Legacy 7 files. Once you
have upgraded to v8 and try to open a v7 file you will be asked if you want to
convert it, with the option of making a copy.

However, if you can find the LEG8PAT.fdb using file explorer then you should be
able to find it with Legacy. Go to File/Open, navigate to the folder where
LEG8PAT.fdb can be found, click on the file, and click on Open.

Perhaps you were clicking on the blue L in the upper left corner – this
normally shows the recent files opened, and there is a chance that you had not
actually opened the second file?? Navigate as above, making sure the file has
an .fdb extension.

I do not understand this.  I have two main databases:  one my paternal side;
the other my maternal side.

I recently updated to Legacy 8. I imported both files separately and saved
each to a new name, which I'll call Leg8PAT and LEG8MAT.

Now Legacy can find LEG8MAT but it cannot find LEG8PAT. Why? (I can find
both.) And what should I do?

Thanks,

Pat
