Thanks Jean-Baptiste, it solves the problem for me.

The strange thing is that I purged the previous version instead of removed it
(so it normally would have delete config files)and I guess it havn't done
it...

(Previous version uninstalled with dpkg -P, and I've oOo 3.2 in the same time
of LibO cause it's integrated in the system with Ubuntu 10.04).

Hope it'll solve the problem for Krasimir too.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 46129] DeadLock At Startup While Loading Fonts

2012-02-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46129

--- Comment #8 from Stephan Bergmann  2012-02-15 23:51:42

And indeed, compiling the C++ test program at

 makes it run fine for me (Fedora 16 x86_64,
based on GCC 4.6.2), but running it with
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/libreoffice3.5/ure/lib (so that it picks up the
libstdc++.so.6 and libgcc_s.so.1 GCC standard
libraries from the official LO instanllation set, which come from a rather old
GCC toolchain) makes it hang.

That is, the assumption that all Linux GCC >= 4 have a working
-fthreadsafe-statics is apparently wrong. Need to dig out the exact version
where the problem
got fixed.

Dave, a quick workaround should be to move away
/opt/libreoffice3.5/ure/lib/{libgcc_s.so.1,libstdc++.so.6}.  The deadlocks
should hopefully go away then.

 Bug #: 46146
   Summary: UI: Regression: Can't open "Last documents used"
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.0 Release
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Status Whiteboard: BSA
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Spreadsheet
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: vic...@terber.de

Problem description:

Steps to reproduce:
1. Upgrade LO 3.4.5 (German) to 3.5 (German)
2. Open a document. Close the document
3. Select "File"/"Open last used documents" (or something similar, I'm using
the German translation which states "Zuletzt benutzte Dokumente...")

Current behavior:
LO shows "No Documents" ("Keine Dokumente")

Expected behavior:
LO should show the list of last documents used. Worked nicely in all previous
versions. Doesn't work in Writer too.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 43849] Autocorrection non-functional in documents created from template

2012-02-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=43849

--- Comment #5 from Fabian Tröster  2012-02-15 22:52:19
PST ---
It's allright. :) Didn't mean to be rude.

It is absolutely possible that this bug only appears with one version: 3.4.4
and might be gone in others.

I personally verified this bug wiht two independent installations of
LibreOffice on two different computers. Both computers are running Windows XP
SP3 32bit.
Most computers will be running Windows 7 by now, so maybe this bug even only
manifests on a Windows XP machine.

My understanding of the whole situation is this: Upon setup/installation of
LibreOffice, those templates for the context menu "New-->" will be created in a
special folder of Windows (it should be something like: C:\Documents and
Settings\\Templates). These templates must be part of the installation
package,
since they can't be created out of thin air.

The trouble is, my bugreport is now so old that in the meantime there has been
the release of two new versions of LibreOffice (3.4.5 and 3.5.0), therefore this
bugreport might be useless. I have been reporting this two months ago and to be
quite honest I was beginning to think that nobody is interested in this. Yes,
it isn't a very important bug, but still, someone could have taken at least a
look at it and posted a message, that it is at least being recognised. At least
that's what I always did for my customers. I understand that you can't go after
each minor bug right away, but I think it would be quite nice to know that
there is someone reading the bugreports.

I'm going to install version 3.4.5 and then trying to confirm the bug. (I'm not
going to use 3.5.x until the release of 3.5.1) Then I will get back to you.

Regards

LibreOffice-3.5.0; Writer; all operating systems.
 The menu "Distributy Columns Evenly" does not work with the selected columns
 1. Create a text document.
 2. Insert a table containing three or more columns that have the same width.
 3. Change the width of the 2nd column.
 4. Select the 2nd and 3rd column.
 5. Click "Distributy Columns Evenly" (menu "Table - Autofit >")
 There is alignment of the width of the columns of the table. Width should be
lined only selected (second and third) column. So working LibreWriter-3.3.x;

Problem description: Place the mouse cursor in the header or footer area of a
document, or scroll the page so that the header/footer area moves over the mouse
cursor and move said cursor slightly.

Current behavior: After a second or two there appears a dashed blue horizontal
line across the page and a blue prompt labelled with a description the area the
cursor is in e.g. Footer (first page).

Requested behavior: The blue line and prompt should only appear if the user
explicitly clicks in the header or footer area.

Comments: It is distracting when the blue line and prompt appear spontaneously,
without any conscious action on the user’s part. One typically spends very
little time editing headers/footers, so these visual elements are almost never
wanted when they appear. The blue prompt can overlay part of the text you are
editing, requiring you to interrupt your work to move the mouse cursor. It
would be preferable if these features only appeared in response to explicit user
action, e.g. a mouse click in the header/footer area.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 33791] Print system fails to use or allow user to select correct paper size for printing

2012-02-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33791

--- Comment #5 from Josh Heidenreich  2012-02-15
17:51:20 UTC ---
I tried (unsuccessfully) to reproduce this bug. Has it been fixed?

Steps I tried:
1. Create a new document.
2. Format -> Page.
3. Chose #10 envelope.
4. File -> Print.

Small preview shows #10 envelope, printer properties has #10 envelope selected.

Chose print to file (saved as a PDF), document is in correct size.

Build is about a day old, from GIT (8bbfedd199deedb8dc7f196efba60c8cefb8da67).

System:
Linux dev1 2.6.32-34-generic #77-Ubuntu SMP x86_64.

Will attach ODF and PDF if requested.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 46140] New: : Crash citing msvcr90.dll

2012-02-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46140

 Bug #: 46140
   Summary: : Crash citing msvcr90.dll
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.0 Release
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Status Whiteboard: BSA
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Libreoffice
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: liam.ki...@gmail.com

Created attachment 57126
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=57126
Windows crash log

Problem description: Every time I update LibreOffice, for a while I continue to
get a "LibreOffice has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry
for the inconvenience." error whenever I try to open a file with it.
Uninstalling and reinstalling doesn't make a difference, nor does removing the
PDF import
extension. The problem usually fixes itself after a while but returns when I
update again. The crash log is attached. (Possibly related to Bug 46105?)

Steps to reproduce:
1. Install LibreOffice
2. Associate LibreOffice with documents, spreadsheets, and presentations
3. Try to open a document.

Current behavior:
LibreOffice begins to load, but once the loading bar reaches halfway or so and
the window reads "Enabling Danish spelling dictionary, hyphenation rules, and
thesaurus" (which is odd because I only have the English dictionary installed),
LibreOffice crashes and I get the error described above.

Expected behavior: LibreOffice should open the document.

Platform (if different from the browser): Windows XP Pro SP3

Browser: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 5.1; Trident/4.0; .NET
CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.0.4506.2152; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET4.0C)

@Rainer,
It still seems to be a problem, but I can't figure out consistently how to
re-create it. It will be hard to determine if the bug (if it is a bug) is
related to
Lo or to something else.

I can't consistently reproduce it to make a useful bug report, but I do have
problems every time I try to access the linked files.

Sorry not to be more helpful.

Created attachment 57125
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=57125
The PDF attachment shows screen shots of an Excel spreadsheet before I used
Libre and after I used Libre.

I have tried different LibreOffice builds (3.3 and 3.4) and the problem is
present. There times when the behavior does not appear, but does the next day.
 As
long as this problem exists, it prevents meaningful document sharing between
Microsoft Office Excel users and LibreOffice Calc users.

Thank you,

Fred

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 44264] Redhat / Fedora desktop integration menu rpm is missing

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=44264

--- Comment #3 from Richie Smit  2012-02-15 16:40:23 PST ---
Created attachment 57124
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=57124
ugly script to provide icons from libreoffice3.4-redhat-menus RPM

This script is a workaround to take an existing, installed
libreoffice3.4-redhat-menus RPM and provide icons to LibreOffice 3.5, (almost
but not quite) as if
there was a package libreoffice3.5-redhat-menus installed.

This just does the pretty icon stuff -- nothing about mime types, etc. is
handled. This just exposes the application icons to a Desktop user. The real
fix is
to have libreoffice3.4-redhat-menus repackages as libreoffice3.5-redhat-menus.
I ain't got time to look for the source package and update it, or I'd do it.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 46137] New: UI: no assignable shortcuts for buttons in the Find & Replace pane

2012-02-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46137

 Bug #: 46137
   Summary: UI: no assignable shortcuts for buttons in the Find &
Replace pane
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.0 Release
  Platform: x86 (IA32)
OS/Version: Mac OS X (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: dr_...@geocities.com

When performing a find & replace operation on a large document, in which not
all the found terms need replacing, one has to click repeatedly between Find and
Replace buttons in order to skip or replace each found target depending on the
surrounding textual context.

Using the TAB/SHIFT-TAB combination allows the user to bypass the
mouse/trackpad, but it is still very inefficient.

A huge improvement would be to assign keyboard shortcuts to the buttons, which
would alleviate considerably the strain on the user as there would be no need to
slide the cursor back and forth all the time.

Your file does not seem to contain duplicates. I tried and the algorithm seems
to recognize duplicates but does not find some if I do not modify the data in
your sheet.

Maybe I'm wrong but then t would be nice if you could name two cells in the
sheet that have the same value.

Even if keyboard shortcuts for Copy & Paste are re-assigned using the
customization, the shortcuts do not work in the Find & Replace pane.

Furthermore, using the re-assigned shortcut for "paste" while the focus is
still on the Find & Replace pane causes the pasting operation to be performed
on the
document, not in the fields present on the pane.

It does not work this way, sorry. 3.3 uninstalls fine in interactive mode. When
you try to upgrade from 3.3 to 3.5, 3.5 installer first tries to uninstall 3.3
silently and that fails. 3.5 installer cannot remove 3.3 install directly, at
least MSI technology is not designed this way, or my knowledge is insufficient.
MSI is a Windows service, it is beyond our control. Installer is just a
sequence of instructions that the MSI service can take.

I don't know why this bug was not discovered earlier. Maybe because it occurs
under Windows 7, and people used Windows XP before. I wish we had it right from
the beginning...

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 46129] DeadLock At Startup While Loading Fonts

2012-02-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46129

--- Comment #7 from Stephan Bergmann  2012-02-15 14:12:45
PST ---
Another thing that comes to mind is threadsafe statics. The thread that is
completely within configmgr (apparently within
configmgr::Components::WriteThread::run) calls __cxa_guard_acquire, i.e., comes
across a local static variable (with non-trivial ctor), likely typeNames in
writeNode (configmgr/source/writemodfile.cxx) or theLock in lock
(configmgr/source/lock.cxx).

The main thread is in the SwModule ctor, which it must reach via

- SwModule::SwModule
- SwDLL::SwDLL
- (anonymous namespace)::SwDLLInstance::SwDLLInstance
- rtl::Static<{anonymous}::SwDLLInstance,
{anonymous}::theSwDLLInstance>::get(void)
- SwGlobals::ensure
[...]

i.e., it also is within a local static ctor in rtl::Static::get
(rtl/instance.hxx; thanks to HAVE_THREADSAFE_STATICS being generally enabled on
Linux, cf.
configure.in).

Now, "Some C++ runtimes use a single lock for all static variables, which can
cause deadlock in multi-threaded applications." (cf. configure.in; and e.g., Mac
OS X is known to be affected by this problem). It is not entirely clear to me
which Linux GCC versions are affected by this problem (recent versions are known
to no longer have this defect).

But the LO Linux installation sets available from
 are built with a rather old GCC
toolchain (cf. comment 3 to bug
45696), and I do not know whether that might still exhibit this problem.

(OOo is far more conservative wrt exploiting -fthreadsafe-static, i.e., it does
not have the HAVE_THREADSAFE_STATICS optimizations in rtl/instance.hxx, so
would not exhibit this problem.)

I see. Thanks for the clarification.

But frankly, I still think that if 3.3 uninstalls fine and you only see the
problem when installing when upgrading to 3.5, then it's an issue---3.5 should
do
whatever it is that's needed to get 3.3 uninstalled.

Think about all the pain this is going to cause newbies---the poor people who
use MS Office because "it just works". Maybe they'll do enough Google searches
and checks on forums figure out how to search Bugzilla (and even open a
Bugzilla account to... see how absurd this is?)... no, they just won't use it.
I'm a
developer---I can (sigh) manually uninstall and re-install. But Joe/Jane...
Anyway, just my humble opinion. :) Back to work...

@stephan: thanks for looking in this. I was so naive to think that the commit
in that area ... but indeed, might be some underlying problem.
Would it be of some / little help maybe if I find out what happens with writing
data to /reading from the user config files, both in 3.3 and 3.4 version?

@Krasimir and Clément: Please try this:
- close LibreOffice
- rename ~/.libreoffice and ~/.openoffice.org if you find them
- rename ~/.config/libreoffice
- restart LibreOffice : it should create a new clean profile without any old
data from OOo and previous version of LO
- try LO-Math again

Best regards. JBF

Do you really still use 3.4.2. Then It would be great if you could either test

Stephan Bergmann  changed:

   What|Removed |Added

 CC||sberg...@redhat.com

--- Comment #10 from Stephan Bergmann  2012-02-15 12:48:44
PST ---
The relevant code looks overly complicated.

Removing *two* entries off the end of pHistoryList in
SvtTemplateWindow::OpenHistory (svtools/source/contnr/templwin.cxx) indeed
looks odd, but is effectively
in there "since the beginning" (subsequent commits just changed the underlying
data structures).

What apparently happens if you follow the steps described in bug 38009 and you
reopen the dialog after you had selected a template from "My Templates" the last
time it had been opened, is

- a call to SvtTemplateWindow::AppendHistoryURL with the .../templates/en-US URL

- followed by a call to SvtTemplateWindow::AppendHistoryURL with the
.../templates/en-US/My%20Templates URL

- followed by a call to ClearHistory -- this apparently comes from
UpdateHdl_Impl, no idea what it is supposed to do

- followed by another call to SvtTemplateWindow::AppendHistoryURL with the
.../templates/en-US URL

and in particular no calls to OpenHistory involved (which might therefore be a
red herring after all)

That code apparently needs further investigation...

Approximately 10-15% of the time when starting LibreOffice it deadlocks and it
appears based on the backtrace to be happening when it's loading fonts. Neither
writer nor the splashpage process are chewing CPU, it' just completely hangs.

Previously in OpenOffice we had some similar problems and deleting the
fontcache file on each launch seemed to make it work better. But that
technique is not
working.

I'm attaching the two backtraces. I'm watching for a pattern.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 43699] Extract, copy or export Chart data tables from Charts in Writer documents

Following to this. Another useful function would be ability to paste list of
values into the writer chart datatable instead of rewriting values one by one,
if
changes are necessary.
It is useful also if charts in writer have different formatting characteristics
(fonts etc.) than in original calc file. It would take less time to copy/paste
data in case of changes instead of pasting chart from calc with following
changes of formatting elements in chart, starting with the anchoring.
