Thank you for your report – unfortunately important information is missing.
May be hints on will help you to
find out what information will be useful to reproduce your problem? If you
believe that that is really sophisticated please as for Help on a user mailing
list
Please:
- Write a meaningful Summary describing exactly what the problem is
- Attach a sample document (not only screenshot) or refer to an existing
sample document in an other Bug with a link.
- Attach screenshots with comments if you believe that that might explain the
problem better than a text comment. Best way is to insert your screenshots
into a DRAW document and to add comments that explain what you want to show
- Contribute a document related step by step instruction containing every
key press and every mouse click how to reproduce your problem
(similar to example in Bug 43431)
– if possible contribute an instruction how to create a sample document
  from the scratch
- add information
-- concerning your PC (video card, ...)
-- concerning your OS (Version, Distribution, Language)
-- concerning your LibO localization (UI language, Locale setting)
–- Libo settings that might be related to your problems
-- how you launch LibO and how you opened the sample document
-- everything else crossing your mind after you read linked texts

Even if you can not provide all demanded information, every little new
information might bring the breakthrough.

Dear Dev Team,

since I have upgraded LibreOffice to:
LibreOffice 3.5.4.2
Build-ID: 165a79a-7059095-e13bb37-fef39a4-9503d18

I expirience constant crashes especially using impress.
Sometimes the application crashes while editing a slide, sometimes is dies
simply running in the back.

The version before was much more stable,

I am using Libre Office on MacOS 10.7

Let me know if I can run some tests for you or please tell me how to produce
debug information.

I hope the next release will be more stable, again and available soon.

Thanks,

Thorsten

> I decided I did not want to have to rebuild this tool (over 1000 rows/10
> columns).

You don't have to rebuild the tool.

The problems occur where an operation is performed on a cell that is NULL. This
is evaluated as a string, thus any mathematical operations involving a NULL
string will fail and return an error.

If you type in the number '0', as you have done so already in certain places in
your sheet, then the formulae will evaluate correctly.

Also, although, I didn't try or test, it might just work if you format all of
your cells as Numbers, since I guess the default for them is now Text.

I remember reading about the rationale behind the change in this behaviour
(which was deliberate, I seem to recall), but don't recall what it was exactly,
something to do with printing sheets that had null values showing up as zeroes
or something like that.

So, for me, this is not necessarily a bug, but a new feature. However, I can
understand that it loses compatibility with the default behaviour of AOO and
all previously made OOo Calc documents.

Alex

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 51132] After one success, PRINTING of #10 ENVELOPES failed to print properly, apparently due to incorrect formatting of the envelope document by the 'Insert Envelope' wizard.

Created attachment 63329

Additional testing and observations, along with a workaround to the issue.

I've identified how to successfully print #10 Envelopes to a HP LaserJet 6L
printer (using MS Unidrv Printer Driver v6.1.7600.16385, GPD filename:
HPLJ6L.GPD, GPD v1.002) using the Envelope wizard. Issue is now that the
required settings are not those implied by the wizard (selecting the 6th
Envelope Orientation icon , instead of the 5th works). Question is whether the position offset code is necessary, but
this requires more information on how the other printers people are using
handle non letter sized forms.

Does the positioning code need to be removed? Do the 'Envelope orientation'
icons need to be adjusted to reflect the actual operation of this printer? Is
this just a documentation error issue regarding usage?

Based on a review of the limited descriptions, this basic issue may be the same
cause for reports: Bug 37733 and Bug 38481.

If you require any additional information, please just let me know.

John

"Bug 50986 - CRASH in menu Tools - Options" sounds similar, but currently only
discussed as a WIN problem.

I do not know "Synaptics package manager", does that also clean the User
Profile?

@j_c_parker
Did your clean up touch the user profile?

@Julien Nabet:
Concerning your question in Bug 43489#10
This one with an individual User Profile problem (currently I am not sure
whether it has to do with the profile) can not be a DUP of a tracker bug (as
all the "Most Annoying 3.5 Bugs" are no DUPs of Bug 37361), but it might block
that one. May be I should leave a hint in the QA-FAQ

Furthermore, clicking Apply should now keep focus on the current tab-page
instead of reverting back to the initial one (this wasn't an issue listed in
the initial bug post, but it was happening to me in multiple versions and
related so the fix is there.)

TestCaseDecorator assumes ownership of the Test and will delete it so default
copy c'tor and operator= will result in double delete.

Solution: making them private!

I tried to type Turkish characters in some cells, they did not display
correctly. In the cells the style looks generic and is out of proportion to the
other non-Turkish characters in the same cell. However I noticed the characters
where displaying correctly in the editing area.
When printed the characters are as in the cells i.e. not correct. The same
problem was experienced in Writer.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 50682] On MacOS X 10.7, 'import uno' crashes in the LibreOffice-provided Python

2012-06-21 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50682

--- Comment #11 from Loic Nageleisen 2012-06-21
11:45:25 PDT ---
Following a comment of someone able to hack hos way into making unoconv behave
on Lion and combined with the fact that it comes from some dylib, I had some
progress[0] made on making 'import uno' working.

I commented the following lines in
/Applications/LibreOffice.app/Contents/MacOS/python:

DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH=$sd_prog:$sd_prog/../ure-link/lib${DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH:+:$DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH}
export DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH

import uno does work, and I tested a small number of scripts to validate it's
really working (e.g Hello World from [1]).

So a possible workaround would be to negatively test like so before setting
DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH.

if perl -e '`uname -s -r` =~ /Darwin 11\.\d+\.\d+/ and exit 1'; then

DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH=$sd_prog:$sd_prog/../ure-link/lib${DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH:+:$DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH}
export DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH

On Pc Debian x86-64 with packages from Wheezy (Version: 1:3.5.4-4), I don't
reproduce this problem.

Could you try with a brand new LO profile
(http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile) ? (Backup your LO profile, it
could be linked to fdo#43489).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 51311] New: FILESAVE: Writer takes a long time to begin saving large files

2012-06-21 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51311

 Bug #: 51311
Summary: FILESAVE: Writer takes a long time to begin saving
large files
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.5.4 release
  Platform: x86 (IA32)
OS/Version: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: cranberrydoug...@yahoo.com

Created attachment 63317
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=63317
Large almost 900 page file

I've had a problem with saving since the 3.5 series began (currently using
3.5.4.2 on Ubuntu 12.04): big files take a long time to save, whereas in the
3.4 series and before I never had a problem and the saving process would begin
instantly.

Steps to reproduce:
Open attached file.
Add a small change like typing a character.
Save the file.

Expected behavior:
File begins saving process immediately.

Actual behavior:
LibreOffice freezes for up to 40 seconds and is totally unresponsive.

Note that smaller files save instantly, but starting with about 100 pages
files, Writer freezes up for a bit before showing the file saving progress bar
and filling it at a normal pace. It takes maybe 5 seconds for a 100 page file,
15 for a 300 page one. Ones much larger take 40 seconds, but don't seem to
freeze for longer than that (a 900 page file, like the one I've attached as a
test case, takes 40 seconds, but that's the same as a 4,000 page document).

Another note is that this only seems to occur if I try to save the file within
the first few minutes of opening LibreOffice. If I wait, say, 10 minutes and
hit save, the save progress bar immediately appears and the file is quickly
saved.

I thought this might be related to, but I'm not too sure:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=40718

Thanks!

Some of my macros break because of case-sensitive DBRange names.
nrg = ThisComponent.NamedRanges.getByName("sal") gets named range "SAL"
addrg = ThisCOmponent.Sheets(0).getCellRangeByName("a1") gets cell A1
dbrg = ThisComponent.DatabaseRanges.getByName("apo_umsatz") raises no such
element exception instead of returning database range "APO_Umsatz"

Like anything else, DBRange names are case-insensitive in the UI.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 46054] 3.5.0 does not use system's GTK+ style on Linux

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46054

--- Comment #2 from Frank 2012-06-21 10:26:19 PDT ---
Thanks for answering!
After having used 3.4 for a while now I retested and found out that the issue
is still there in 3.5.3, but after some trying around I found out that it's not
a program bug - it's a component I didn't install. Installing gnome-integration
(although being on KDE) cured the problem. Did some GTK2-components move from
some core package into gnome-integration? In 3.4, things worked nicely on KDE
without the gnome-integration package. Maybe one should keep a functioning GTK2
integration even without having to install gnome-integration if GNOME's not
used...

Nevertheless, problem solved for me :)

Created attachment 63316
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=63316
Original "Poison" Word Document

This is the original Word document that produces the un-editable frames in the
file when converted. I just edited the document to remove some customer data
and saved it with Word 2010 in compatibility mode.

I tried importing it with LibreOffice:

LibreOffice 3.5.4.2
Build ID: 165a79a-7059095-e13bb37-fef39a4-9503d18

The problem occurs with the freshly imported file.

The Word document is quite old - I have been using it since 2005, and I did not
originally create the document, it started as an invoice template. I converted
it to ODT with "OpenOffice.org/3.1$Unix
OpenOffice.org_project/310m11$Build-9399" back in 2009-05-13 and have been
using it in that format with various versions of OO.org (and LibreOffice) ever
since.

--- Comment #14 from Michael Meeks 2012-06-21

The real question is: when does the slide get corrupted; the trace is common
as:

Thread 0 Crashed: Dispatch queue: com.apple.main-thread
0 sd::slidesorter::model::PageDescriptor::GetPage() const + 6
1
sd::slidesorter::controller::CurrentSlideManager::SetCurrentSlideAtXController(boost::shared_ptr
const&) + 213
2 sd::slidesorter::controller::CurrentSlideManager::SwitchPageCallback(void*) +
63
3 Timer::Timeout() + 28
... from the mainloop ...

I wonder if Linux versions have a similar trace. Most likely we need to run
this under valgrind / drmemory to go back in time to when the corruption
happened.

Also - a build with debugging symbols is always going to produce a better
trace; I assume we have these for Mac, any chance you could try one if it's
easy to reproduce ?

- If the old bug is on Status WORKSFORME feel free to reopen after you checked
carefully that you really observe the reported bug and whether your LibreOffice
Version can contain the FIX therefore check the Whiteboard target
information!).

I only reopened it because I thought this applied (i.e. there was no indicated

Is there anything I (as a simple QA volunteer and Mac user) could do to help
you with tracking down this issue?

The original problem still is WFMwith 3.5.5.1, LibreRay's problem is
reproducible with 3.5.5.1., so it's something different with similar symptoms.

I close this one again submit a new Bug for for the new problem.

I just reproduced the issue with the same steps on Windows XP using LibreOffice
3.5.4.2. Therefore this issue is (most probably) not operating system specific.

Reading a fair bit of .java code I see lots of:

 */

/**

type comments - which seem utterly useless. It'd be great to get rid of them
and (in general) give some love to our java code.

Same problem here : the page formatting is completely broken after pasting text
from Impress to Writer, and it is not possible to cancel the action using
Ctrl-Z or Undo.

Here is a test case, with two screenshots.
To reproduce the bug :
- open text.odt and pres.odp
- select the text "If you copy some text" from slide 2 of pres.odp and copy it
to the clipboard
- paste the text at the end of text.odt and see the damage

My system : Debian Linux Squeeze 64 bits with LibreOffice 3.5.4.2

The bug is 100% reproducible on my Linux box but I also tried on Windows XP SP3
32 bits, Windows 7 64 bits and Mac OS X Leopard 64 bits and I don't see the bug
on these three systems (I tested these systems on Virtualbox machines, with
LibreOffice 3.5.4.2).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 50860] EDITING: Copy Sheet Moves Formulas

2012-06-21 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50860

--- Comment #2 from davidover...@du-mont.com 2012-06-21 08:04:33 PDT ---
The behavior I was dealing with is the same as found in the following
forum thread and is apparently the standard behavior for formulas
referring to a cell on a different sheet when the sheet is copied. The
use of absolute references is an easy resolution, but personally I find
the behavior a little counter intuitive. Overall I love calc and have
been using it for years at home and have been advocating a change at the
company I work for, but things like this make adoption harder to argue
for. When long term spreadsheet users find what appear to be problems
with basic functions, it scares them off and the odds of getting a
second look are slim. I'm not advocating that calc be a clone of excel
by any means, as there are some things that I prefer about calc, but
some things should behave in the same manner. Please keep up the good
work and if there is anything I can do to help (I'm not a programmer)
let me know.

http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?t=47863

Steps to reproduce problem:
1) Open attached spreadsheet
2) Copy Sheet 1 to the position after Sheet 2
3) Compare formulas between Sheet 1 and the copy (I expected them to be
the same)

Thanks,
David

Added bug 51023 - "EDITING: Drag-and-drop slide sorting broken on Mac OS X,
leading to data corruption and crashes".

This bug seems to be limited to MacOS X for now, but is still really annoying
and urgent:
* it makes sorting slides in Impress completely impossible,
* it leads to data corruption of a serious kind
* and even to crashes.
* Additionally, it is an regression introduced in LibreOffice 3.5.x.

There are some reports about Drag-and-drop slide sorting not working on Linux,
which could be related, so looking into this issue may also help to fix these
Linux issues (and the other way around).

Sample spreadsheet created in Excel 2010 saved as xls format. It contains a
comment. It was never edited by LibreOffice.

Problem description:
If you open a simple file in xls format, cell comments are shown in white over
yellow colors. As a result, user cannot see the comment.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create new spreadsheet in Excel 2007 or 2010
2. Insert a comment for one cell
3. Save as xls format
4. Open spreadsheet in LibreOffice

Current behavior:
The comment is in white over yellow

Expected behavior:
The comment should be in color "Automatic" and not white

Platform (if different from the browser):

Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:13.0) Gecko/20100101
Firefox/13.0.1

Tested in LibreOffice 3.5.4, but same behavior in previous versions.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 51023] EDITING: Drag-and-drop slide sorting broken on Mac OS X, leading to data corruption and crashes

@Thorsten Behrens,
@Radek Doulik:

I insert your addresses into the CC list of this bug report because you are our
Impress experts (and MacOS X expert, too, in the case of Thorsten). This bug
seems to be limited to MacOS X for now, but it is nevertheless very important
and urgent -- it makes sorting slides in Impress completely impossible, it
leads to data corruption and even to crashes. Additionally, it is an regression
introduced in LibreOffice 3.5.x.

I have done some extensive testing (see especially comment #10 and comment #11)
to give you an exact description about when slide sorting works and when it
doesn't, and what exactly happens when it doesn't work. I hope this helps a
bit.

Now I ask you: please take a look at this issue. I know you have got much other
things to do, but this is definitely a really critical bug, and should be
placed high on your Impress priorities list.

Thank you very much in advance!

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 50897] EDITING: Chart gets messy when copying from ods to odt. Ok only after restart of computer. After a while - mess again.

Yes, every time. When I start working with data and make charts in ods and then
try to copy the chart to odt the pasted chart is just a straight line and not
the actual chart. My workaround is to press save in ods and then copy-paste
again. This workaround works most of the time but several times I needed to
restart the computer because restarting the program did not work.

Some more hints and observations:

(a) There are some bug reports which could be related to this issue, especially
for Linux, but I can't find any exact duplicates for now:
* bug 49543 just says that sorting slides via drag-and-drop does not work at
all
* bug 46801 is the same (drag-and-drop does not work at all)
* bug 48101 speaks about "drag & drop of slides from another document"
* bug 42289 seems to speak about how many slides are visible in the slide
sorter
  (if I understand it correctly).

(b) Updated summary according to previous comments.

(c) This bug is NOT REPRODUCIBLE with LibreOffice 3.4.6 (OOO340m1, Build:602),
German langpack installed, on MacOS X 10.6.8 German (Intel).

-> The bug is new in 3.5.x, therefore added keyword "regression".

(d) This bug is NOT REPRODUCIBLE with LibreOffice 3.4.6, German langpack
installed, on WinXP, therefore it seems to be a MacOS X only issue for now.
(But someone else should still test Linux).

Thanks. Does this bug is still reproducible in that case?

It is a *different* problem.

Original problem in bug 46487 is "No images are showing up", but this bug is
about "some unreadable text at the top of slide". Please see screenshot
comparing LibO and PowerPoint. Thanks again.

This is an attachment of bug 46487, which is in RESOLVED WORKSFORME state.
Does this mean, that your problem was not resolved, as stated in

The zip contains two zips which contain the ods and odt between which I was
copying.

I have finally managed to do it, but only after additional Ctrl + S. I think
that Ctrl + S cleans some buffers and the problem goes away.

Created attachment 63300

Corrupted sample file, corrupted via a simple sequence of drag-and-drop actions

But the analysis given in my previous comment holds true only when I do single
drag-and-drop actions, i.e. open my sample document (attachment 63289) before
each step again and try only one step at once.

If I do several drag-and-drop actions one after another, I observe
a) crashes and
b) data corruption.

I have not found yet a simple way to reproduce the crash with 100% reliability,
but here is a simple sequence of drag-and-drop actions which leads to data
corruption:
1) Open my sample file (attachment 63289) with LibreOffice 3.5.4.2 or 3.6beta 1
and switch to the Slide Sorter.
The order of the slides is first "1", "2", "3", "4".
2) Drag slide "2" after slide "3".
The order of the slides is now "2", "1", "3", "4" (wrong!).
3) Drag slide "1" (the 2nd one) after slide "3" (the third one).
The order of the slides is again "1", "2", "3", "4" (wrong!)
4) Drag slide "2" after slide "3".
The order of the slides is now "2", "2", "3", "4": corruption!
Now we have two slides which look identical at the beginning of the slide show.
The old slide "1" is gone.

And this is a serious and stable corruption, not only a drawing error: the
double slide "2" is still present when I save, close and open the document
again, and the old slide "1" is still missing.

Attached you find such a corrupted file which is the result of applying the
given four steps to my sample file.
