[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 59547] New: FILEOPEN: Slow scrolling particular .RTF file with 50% and more CPU (REGRESSION from AOO 3.4.1)

2013-01-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59547

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 59547
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
   Summary: FILEOPEN: Slow scrolling particular .RTF file with 50%
and more CPU (REGRESSION from AOO 3.4.1)
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: kaktebyaviru...@gmail.com
  Hardware: x86 (IA32)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.0.0.1 rc
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

Created attachment 73233
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=73233&action=edit
Example file with hign CPU use while scrolling

LibO Version 4.0.0.1 (Build ID: 527dba6f6e0cfbbc71bd6e7b88a52699bb48799) on
Windows XP SP3 Russian

RTF is opened, but if we try to scroll down document to the second page,
everything freezes. While scrolling CPU use jumps from 50% to 100% on Pentium
Dual-Core CPU E5300 @ 2.60 GHz with 2 Gb of RAM (only LibO is launched on
computer). If we stop trying to scroll through a document, CPU use drops
significantly to 10% or even less after some time. The more pages contains
document, more freezes we see.

Apache Open Office 3.4.1 Writer AOO 3.4.1m1 (Build: 9593) - Rev. 1372282 open
and scroll this document in any direction with significantly fewer delays (CPU
use jumps max to 50% and rapidly falls to zero) on Russian Windows XP
Professional SP3 (32bit)

Problem description:

Steps to reproduce:

Current behavior: Up to a few days ago, after a file was edited, it would
always appear as the first file under "Recently Used" when I returned to the
directory (and "Recently Used" always appeared automatically whenever I
accessed the directory). Now, however, neither of those functions works. If I
want "Recently Used," I now have to look for it manually and the last file I

Yes, the bug occurs only when printing.
As I said, the PDF export is perfect ; that's why I attached a PDF generated by
a virtual printer.
My 2 real printers show the same problem as my second attachment.

The strange numbers in your XP PDF seem to be due to the font replacement for
the one I used (Linux biolinum).

We do not need to integrate a function for what an excellent Extension does
exist. Or do you breed herrings in your bathtub because the only other way to
get herrings is in a store?

So WONTFIX for now.

But we should invite WriterRotationTool Author Thibault Vataire to publish his

Actually, I found the extension "WriterRotationTool".
It works as a workaround in LO. You will need to install the version 1.0
(tested on LO 3.6.4.3) from there:
http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/en/node/3620/releases

After restarting LO, you should see a new blue icon in the toolbar. By
selecting a picture and clicking this icon, you can now rotate the object as it
is considered as a graphic.

It is amazing to see that this issue was reported on the OpenOffice bug tracker
in... March 2002. Yes, this has been an issue for more than 10 years.
Here is the bug report:
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=3545

As it was stated before, ericb2 at Apache is apparently working on it for AOO
4.0 (expected in April 2013), as you can see at the bottom of this page:
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OOOUSERS/AOO+4.0+Release+Planning

I could not find any extension implementing this for LO.

Changed the importance to "high" as this is still unresolved in 3.6.4.3 and it
is still the top issue in "Vote for enhancement"
(https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Vote_for_Enhancement#Bug_34423_-_Rotate_Images_in_Writer)

This is a real problem in places where users want to perform tasks as simple as
creating a sign or a pdf document with images. In most businesses this would be
seen as a serious flaw.

2013-01-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58786

--- Comment #3 from Gerry  ---
Can anyone with Ubuntu (12.10) test this issue and confirm this bug? Thanks.

This would be really helpful, because only if this bug is fixed and the
document converter works again old .sdw, .sdc,... files can be auto-converted
to the ODF files.

--- Comment #1 from Gerry  ---
I can confirm this behaviour in 4.0rc1. Comments for text ranges are not
exported to .doc. However, they are working fine in the export to .docx.

Please update the .doc export to include comments for text ranges.

I can confirm this, too. Worked in 3.6.x. There was no text in Version 4.0.0.1
(Build ID: 527dba6f6e0cfbbc71bd6e7b88a52699bb48799)

I increased the importance level to critical, because of data loss.
Additionally when saving the file in 4.0rc, then the text is also lost in 3.6.x

Hi,

With LOdev 4.0 b1 I had not problem with the MySQL Connector (v1.0.1).
When I want to install it in LO 4.0.0 rc1 I have the following error message:

loading component library  failed:

With my LibreOffice 3 profile (with MySQL connector already installed), when I
try to connect, the following error message appears:

Impossible d'établir la connexion à la source de données "xx".
Impossible d'établir la connexion à une source de données externe
Aucun pilote SDBC n'a été trouvé pour l'URL spécifié.

In fact, tt's the same problem as described in bug 59481.

I've tested under GNU/Linux 64, LiBo rc1 and works fine.
I've tested under Win XP, LiBo rc1, and does not have the issue reported, but
instead formatting is different from GNU/Linux (that is perfect, see GNU pdf
attached) to XP, where page breaks are in different places due, seems, to
different font metrics. The most notable problem are numbers "collapsed" in
formulas (see page 15 of the XP pdf attached).
Do you mean that the border issue is only when you print? Could you try with a
different printer? Maybe is a printer driver issue?
(my pdf are generated as pdf export, not pdf print)

LibreOffice 4 introduces the feature
"Enable attaching comments to document text ranges. fdo#38244"
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38244

- Open a writer document
- Attache a comment to a text rangeLibO
- Save as doc
- Close the document
- Re-open the document

Now the comment is atatched to a position between characters. The range is
lost.

Try to open LibreOffice-produced doc in Word an Word-produced doc in
LibreOffice revealed that both, import and export filters fail to handle
comments atteched to document text ranges.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 47468] : EDITING - Default values not shown immediately when entering new data into a table

2013-01-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47468

--- Comment #9 from rob...@familiegrosskopf.de ---
When I had a look at comment 2, I saw the default date as "03.01.1". There was
a bug in LO 3.3 - https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=34410 - which
shows the same result, when fields with a date were internal NULL.

How do you create this default-field?

I have now tested with LO 3.6.4.3 and 3.5.7.1 and ODBC-Connection under
OpenSuSE Linux 32 bit rpm. No problem with default values of a date, when they
are created directly in MySQL.
With every connection to the database I saw the default-value directly after
commit of data.
Problems with editing default values of a date, when they are created in the
GUI of LO with the wrong formatting. Must be given like 2013-01-17.
Default values in the GUI are not saved in the database. So this values appear
when you create a new row before you commit.

I can't confirm this bug under linux.
@hc.stoellinger: Does this behavior already exist under Linux with the actual
LO 3.6.4.3?

That's not correct, also possible for xls and similar, but so reporter's result

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 59490] EDITING: Immediate crash when trying to create a spreadsheet

Julien Nabet  changed:

   What|Removed |Added

 Status|UNCONFIRMED |NEEDINFO
 CC||b...@eikota.de,
   ||serval2...@yahoo.fr

--- Comment #1 from Julien Nabet  ---
Did you try to rename your LO directory profile (see
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile)?
If you still reproduce this, could you retrieve an useful backtrace (see
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/BugReport#How_to_get_debug_information_.28on_Mac_OS_X.29)?

Finally, I'll quote Roman (put in cc of this bug):
1) Do you have any accesibility features enabled? Apple’s accessibility
features like “VoiceOver” or “Enable access for assistive devices”, which get
enabled in “System Preferences > Universal Access”, are known to cause many
crashes and freezes in LibreOffice. So please try to disable any accesibility
features, then check if the problem is still reproducible.

2) Do you have installed any window management/user interface
utilities/apps/control panels/extensions for Mac OS X like
   * AquaSnap* BetterSnapTool
   * BetterTouchTool * Breeze
   * Cinch   * Divvy
   * DoublePane  * Flexiglass
   * HyperDock   * iSnap
   * Moom* RightZoom
   * ShiftIt * SizeUp
   * SizeWell* Spectacle
   * Stay* TileWindows
   * WindowTidy... or something similar?

And/or do you use any mouse cursor/pointer utility, i.e. some little
application or control panel etc. which animates or replaces etc. the mouse
curser/pointer, like
   * LazyMouse?

And/or do you use any special software which could be related to accessibility
stuff, e.g. a screen reader, screen magnifier, speech recognition software,
a text-to-speech (dictation) application, or similar?

All these and many similar utilities rely heavily on Mac OS accessibility
features and therefore can cause LibreOffice to crash or freeze. So please
check if you have installed any utility of this kind and try to disable it
(or to add LibreOffice to the list of excluded applications for the utility,
if there is such a thing).

So please check these possibilities, if any of them helps to make the crash go
away, and report the results here.

For your info, I tested 4.0-rc1 and the bug is present there (expectedly, I
guess, as it was in the night builds it was generated from). I wonder if it's
only my machine which has three languages installed (I guess that this
configuration is not so common). If it's a compiler-bug issue as Lemoyne
suspects, maybe it's time to leave it on hold until ubuntu packagers compile it
against with a different compiler version, libraries, etc.

Export to PDF is a very common way to preserve contents of a document, so it is

@atimar: I wonder if it would be best to always install the "Python-UNO
Bridge" component on Windows unconditionally?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 49202] Bundled EXTENSIONS RU, EN, HU Dictionaries broken

2013-01-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=49202

--- Comment #35 from Urmas  ---
If you mean "Python-UNO bindings: Enables automation in LibreOffice through a
Python language" component, it is uninstalled as I have no use of automation of
any kind and there is no any hint in installer that it is required for spelling
checker.

So either fix the dependencies or use truthful descriptions in installer.
Having useful error messages is also nice.

(But of course support for Firefox toolbar pictures is the top-priority
instead.)

On my Ubuntu 12.10 side of the same machine, it is not reproducable. This must
be a very rare issue and something specific to my Windows side since no one
else can reproduce it. The LibreOffice version on my Ubuntu side is Version
3.6.2.2 (Build ID: 360m1(Build:2)), the latest from the 12.10 repos. I am
running Unity with the nouveau drivers (couldn't get the proprietary drivers to
work with this release).

Confirmed on 3.6.3.2 on Bodhi Linux.

Changing version.
@reporter - version reflects oldest version that the bug is seen on, we use
comments to say "we tested and confirmed on newer version X.X.X.X as well"

Marking as:
New (Confirmed)
Normal (can prevent high quality work for German users)
High (somewhat major feature - synonyms would affect quite a few users)

Thanks for reporting!

Steps to reproduce

1. Open the file (comment 2;Attachment #73014).
2. Write something in tab "Menu".
3. Save the file.
4. Close everything.
5. Reopen the file.

Here the popup saying that I can no more open the file.

Hope that someone can reproduce the bug.

@Joel Madero - I know, that in bug report I must specify the oldest version
from where problem started, but I can't afford to keep all previous versions of
LibO for reviews. That's why I specify LibO version that I use in daily work
(despite the fact that it is still not recommended for everyday use). In LibO
3.5 and 3.6 there was a huge amount of bugs that forced me to install latest
version. Yes, I have to use both LibO and AOO, because if some file could not
be opened in one suite, it could be opened in another without any problems.
