[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 78586] New: Assigning character style does not set the modified flag

2014-05-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=78586

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 78586
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Assigning character style does not set the modified
flag
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: ulrich.wi...@rz.uni-regensburg.de
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.1.5.3 release
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

When changing some character styles only on 4.1.5, the modified flag is not
set. So the user cannot save the file until he does some other dummy change.
What I did was to mark some text with the mouse and then double-clicked the
desired character style in the stylist.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 76476] There is a white bar on top when entered full-screen mode

2014-05-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=76476

I think we should just remove the current hack to "support" full-screen mode
from the code. As I tried to say many times in that other bug report about it,
it is a somewhat barebones hack and not at all well thought out and/or tested,
and the interaction with LO's own full-screen concept is unclear. Anyway, if it
doesn't work, don't try to use it.

@Foss: What does Firefox have to do with this? I don't use Firefox on OS X.

When first seeing this I thought it's an artefact of my LCD monitor (which has
very high display quality), but after taking a screen shot I found out it's the
application, not the display:
Some black characters seem colored at some zoom levels. IMHO that's a usability
no-no. See screen shots (one regular size, one zoomed for clarity).

Linked (as opposed to embedded) images are not displayed when a document is

the same document is opened as "working copy", images are displayed correctly.
The document and images reside on a filesystem where the user has no change

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=64265

(In reply to comment #4)

I can reproduce the problem with version 4.2.4.2 on Windows7 (Dutch), with
Visio 2007 installed after LO was installed, by following the steps in comment
#1.

There are various ways to import a Visio object in a Writer document and when
editing the object, Visio is opened, _except_ when using the the way described
in comment #1. This plus the fact hat it worked fine before version 4.0 makes
me believe it is a bug and even regression.

Document created when copied and pasted from wbsite shown at bottom of article

Problem description: Highlight, Copy, and Paste a web article into a document
file. Graphic shows full-size, but has message: "Graphic cannot be displayed."
Delete graphic. Use 'Insert-picture-from file' and graphic is shown as barely
visible tiny green box. Expand box and see message.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Highlight, Copy, and Paste this web article
(http://www.tufts.edu/alumni/magazine/fall2013/features/up-in-arms.html)
into a document file.

Start highlighting at bottom of article, the line with "this year for his
investigative reporting."

Copy and Paste into blank document.
2. Look where picture should be. See message: "Graphic cannot be displayed"

3. Confirm picture is not corrupt:
Open Gimp and picture loads just fine. Save jpg as png.
Open image viewer of choice and see that both jpg and png pictures are fine.
Open image in Firefox and then save as FirefoxSave.jpg
Open Gimp and picture loads just fine. Save jpg as png and tif.
Open image viewer of choice and see that both FirefoxSave jpg and png
pictures are fine.

4. Confirm with picture is not based on picture type:Insert all pictures
(exported above), one-at-a-time into document where they are in the web page.
Get teeny-tiny little green box.
Stretch box and get the message: "Graphic cannot be displayed"

5.Create new document and insert picture from file into it. Get same message.
Note that the graphic appears to be outside of the
document text, because it cannot be reached by delete or backspace keys. Only
by clicking on tiny square can it then be deleted.

Current behavior: "Graphic cannot be displayed" message and tiny little
graphics box shown. Seen not just in web page copies, but other times as well.

Expected behavior: Picture showing correctly.

Yup. The code treats it as if it's a named range, which is the reason for this

Doing some test, seems that is a similar problem as it happens with named

If the all address is not absolute it is not updated.

part where the color of the letters change disappeared.

No idea what is the desired effect there, but looks like a regression; so I'll

With:
Win7x64Ultimate
Version: 4.2.3.3 Build ID: 882f8a0a489bc99a9e60c7905a60226254cb6ff0

The first is that the file has the Autocalculate off.

My observations:
- after undo not formula values are showed (maybe the only issue here *1),
works fine with autocalculate on, also they are recovered after a [F9].
- comment#5, works fine with autocalculate on or a manual calculation[F9]

So works for me.

If enable Menu/Tools/Cells content/Autocalculate or [F9] doesn't work,
I think a resetting of the user profile could be tried to discard it,

cannot reproduce this problem with 4.2.3.3 or master...

OleComponent::LoadEmbeddedObject() just calls Win32 OleLoad(),
and that's what determines which component is going to handle the OLE object,
via the registry entries.

OleComponent::RunObject() just calls OleRun().

there is code in
setup_native/source/win32/customactions/reg4allmsdoc/reg4allmsi.cxx
to create registry entries to associate Visio files with LO;
presumably the problem is caused by these entries over-writing
the entries that Visio itself creates.

in my test i've installed Visio 2007 after installing LO, which would explain
why i don't see the problem, presumably Visio will over-write all its entries.

am not quite sure if it's possible to selectively disable/enable
LO's registration for particular MSO document types;
clearly all of it can be disabled with REGISTER_NO_MSO_TYPES...
ah it checks also SELECT_WORD, SELECT_EXCEL, SELECT_POWERPOINT,
SELECT_VISIO

so i guess you can specify the SELECT_VISIO property when installing with
msiexec to disable LO registration for Visio types.

Andras, do we already check that we don't over-write existing
entries in the registry when installing?

in summary, not sure if there is a bug here at all.

By the way in the worst possible situation. I am formatting an academic paper,

Line-spacing should be respected between paragraphs of same type, no matter the
checkbox state.

Additional shame: Installed L.O. to various friends in similar tasks saying
that L.O. will be better than the "famous commercial suite", as the suite in
question is full of inconsistencies :(

I've got the impression that the screen has two modes: normal and import. For
one reason or the other, mine is in the wrong mode. Sometimes (1 out of 100) I
see the normat mode with buttons like openen. At that time the screen is
functioning normally (as expected).
That is why this seems to be an other problem than the others mentioned.

Status: UNCONFIRMED

 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

I wanted to insert a new row, but by mistake Shift did not act, so I overwrote
text in an already text filled cell. Undo command did NOT restored my original
text! Also, after inserting a new row, I noticed that I inserted it at a wrong
line, so I used Undo to eliminate it. It did NOT work! Instead, the Calc
program put the text in the cell below in the new row!! I can't imagine how is
this hard to record the editing commands in order to undo them, it has been
done since MS Office #2!

I still think they are related, but may be wrong (I often see relation where
there are non or not too strong ones.. ;) )

What happens when you click a bit around on a scroll bar, all templates, etc.
Usually for me that functions as work around...

2014-05-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 78558
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: FILEOPEN: Excel spreadsheet with chart with
transparent background doesn't display properly
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: tomd...@comcast.net
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.2.3.3 release
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

When I open an Excel spreadsheet I created in Calc that has a chart with a
transparent background in Calc, the background appears blue and transparent.

If I open the same spreadsheet in MS Excel, the background is transparent, as
desired.

This problem is related to bug #64224, which has been fixed and IS working
correctly.

Here are the steps to recreate the problem:

1) Create a spreadsheet in Calc
2) Add a bar chart with a transparent background
3) Save the spreadsheet as a MS Excel 2003 file
4) Close the spreadsheet in Calc
5) Open the newly created spreadsheet in Calc
6) Verify the transparent background is blue

I first encountered this in Calc 4.2.3.3 on Ubuntu 14.04 Linux (64-bit) and
then I was able to recreate it in Calc 4.2.4.2 on Windows XP SP3.

Attached are screen shots and some test files.

It turns out that don't need to edit the cell.
I just pull down H19 to H28 and all values become 7, with the formules still

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 78545] EDITING: spreadsheet cell autocomplete improvements (better algorithim)

2014-05-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=78545

Ctrl-Tab does help a bit, but it's much more awkward than a smarter
auto-complete. It needs 2 extra keystrokes (which aren't easy to type fast),
and then we may have to Ctrl-tab multiple times. Furthermore, it's a
non-discoverable and less-intuitive way to work.

There is one extra refinement needed - in that we aren't always appending data
at the bottom of a column; sometimes we insert in the middle or at the top.

(1) Current algorithm is:
Scan from top of column for match, accept the first one.

(2) Improved algorithm.
Scan outward (up + down) from the current cell for a match, accept the
  nearest one.

(3) Optimised algorithm:
Scan the entire column and count matches. Accept the most popular match.

Given that (3) may be harder to write, and possibly worse at runtime, I think
that (2) would suffice - it should be easy to write, and would catch most of
the common cases.

Yes, that's what he meant: press enter in your step 5)

This bug is really quite annoying, and resulted in my disabling most of
auto-corrections, as it makes them do more harm than good. I understand that
you could argue this behavior works "as intended", except that if it is so, the
behavior should be the same with both "space" and "enter", which is not the
case. So it's definitely a bug (not an enhancement as suggested in Bug 44062).

I've created and attached a new (=just made) "Test Document.xls" (in Microsoft

When I try to recreate my problem, I could not recreate it!
If I now use the Hyperlink dialog, there is really a dialog! Just how it's
supposed to work.

In order to facilitate you in solving this bug, I've modified (=removed privacy
information) the original document so you can see the problem for yourself.
I've called it Original File Edited.xls
I hope this is sufficient "proof".

Confirming the bug in LibO 4.2.4.2. Actually, I was planning to open a bug
report about it but then I found this one.

Steps to reproduce:
- insert a page number field
- select it, right-click on it and select "Fields"
- set "offset" to something >0
- page numbering stops when the number reaches the total number of pages in the
document

For instance, if your document has 10 pages and you set offset to 5, your 1st
page will get number 6, , your 5th page will get number 10, and pages 6 to
10 will get no number.

This is even more obvious when you set the offset to something higher than the
actual page count: the page numbering field just shows nothing, on any page.

I'm sorry, you might have to download the Calc file with "right click -> save
as". I don't know what this always happens.

table and calculation error under LO 4.2.3.3

Win7 Home 64bit
LO 4.2.3.3 Build-ID: 882f8a0a489bc99a9e60c7905a60226254cb6ff0

Open the file attachements to see what I mean.

To reproduce:
1) Move left table up or to the upper left → data not lost
2) Move same table down or to the lower right → data lost
-> will affect right table
3) go to right table, add parameter in 1st row of y-values (H19) and remove it
again within the edit mode
4) apply the logic to the full column of y-values → data is wrong
5) additionally, "undo" doesn't work

Works fine under Win7 Pro 64bit, LO 4.2.1.1 and
Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, LO 3.5.7.2 Build-ID: 350m1 (Build:2)

Hi,

There is some general problem in selecting templates and having actions
available.
See bug 78552
Strange enough I'm not sure if the existing bug for that is bug 70692 ..

There is indeed some trouble in selecting a template in such a way that all
actions are available.
Can't find the issue for that however.
@joren: wasn't that bug 70692 ??

@charles: most of the times I manage by fiddling around with some random
clicking, (de_0selecting and other 'reliable' stuff :\

so it seems Chrome doesn't block *installation* but rather *download* of the
LibO install package.

the duplicate is moreover about 4.1.6.2 release so it seems it's a more general
issue towards any LibO install package.

question now is: which side is the bug? problem inside LibO package or Google
Chrome false positive?

I am using the same OSX you used, and the same version of LibreOffice ---
QUOTING:

Created a user template. Was able to delete that template. Tested w LO 4.2.4.2
OSX 10.9.2.

I also am using OS X 10.9.2 and LO 4.2.4.2

and I can't do it. There is no Delete button available. Some quirk of
my OS I suppose.

(I supplied my versions when I submitted the report; maybe Bugzilla
didn't provide that)

Thank you.

Closing again as NotABug because it works as designed.
If you think that the current behavior is not optimal or should be other,
please open a new bug report with the "importance" field set at "enhancement".

thanks Julien

I mark this report as WONTFIX since the change I suggested leads to nasty side
effects.

I think the right way to implement the feature is to work on the "right click
autocorrect suggestions" menu like explained in comment 31

discussion may continue in bug 65952
