[Bug 142585] Flashing toolbar for Navigator and Styles (when at least one of them is docked)

2024-04-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=142585

Excuse me, I looked for the wrong error: The flashing toolbar does not happen
in this installation (but the other bug of the Navigator not working as
expected showed up again).

But I can tell one other finding: On the other computer (the one with the
flashing navigator toolbar sickness currently not available here) the flashing
toolbar did not show up at all user accounts, only at two of them. I tried to
find out the differences but until now I was unable to find out what really
makes the differences to cause the flashing toolbar quirk. Unfortunately I
can't do any tests on that partial findings until in about 10 days.

Currently I am on a journey and have my other computer with me. On this one,
which has Version: 7.3.7.2 / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 30(Build:2)
CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 6.2; UI render: default; VCL: x11
Locale: de-DE (de_DE.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Ubuntu package version: 1:7.3.7-0ubuntu0.22.04.4
Calc: threaded

I started LibreOffice like this:

$ SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen libreoffice
Warning: failed to launch javaldx - java may not function correctly

(process:7539): dconf-WARNING **: 08:01:25.767: unable to open file
'/etc/dconf/db/site': Datei »/etc/dconf/db/site« konnte nicht geöffnet werden:

performance

There I see this error message. In this case the problem persists: despite
"Headings" is the category selected in the Navigator, the Navigator view shows
the finding in the category "Tables" if I click on any of the words "HERE"
which are in a table. It shows its findings correctly in the hierarchy of
headings if I click somewhere else outside of tables.

Dear Xisco Faulí,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to

Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.

Dear Nicolas Christener,

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.

Yeah. The binaries in the bibisect repository might not have those parameters
assigned so could not test for Google Drive, hence unable to bibisect.

[Bug 101646] UI option "Scaling" was removed

2024-04-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101646

Here's another perspective.

The function text size needs to be completely and independently adjustable due
to number of common characters that are very similar. (eg, periods, commas,
semicolons, colons, single quotes, double quotes, parens, etc) Also, the
function font, at least in my mind, should be mono spaced.

At least for me, the fonts everywhere else in the Libre Calc menus are fine as
they are.

Having to adjust OS font size makes all the other apps look horrible.

We've got support from 4 different contributors, in comment 0, comment 8,
comment 9 and comment 14, plus another in
https://ask.libreoffice.org/t/writer-select-all-text-paragraph-with-same-formatting/14183,
illustrating how it could help users move to using styles more quickly, like in
comment 18.

Marking as "new". Now I'd say we need some agreement on where it should live,
and if we start with exact match, or go straight to a more complex "similarity"
idea - which would be subjective by definition...

Could be a GSoC idea, if it is clearly scoped out on a dedicated wiki page?

LO 7.4 (and newer) supports up to 2^20 (1048576) rows.

XLSX and ODS file formats, when saved with LO 7.4 (and newer), can save that
amount of rows.

But the XLS file format supports up to 2^16 (65536) rows, no matter which
spreadsheet tool you would use.

This is not a bug.

As said in the original report, I'm afraid it also happens with Freezing
disabled.

That only seems to fix the rendering of that one "cell" on the first sheet.

Please have a look at the 2nd sheet ("Data") and there scroll right up to at
least that purple area... for me, with and without freezing, lines vanish and
re-appear.

The log that you attached has the following line near the top:

Panicked task 0xff9be3ae16d0: 2 threads: pid 700: fontd

So I don't think LibreOffice is causing the crash. I would assume that the
"fontd" system process is trying to load a font but hard to tell. Not sure why
Apple's fontd code is causing a system crash, but this looks like either a
macOS bug or a corrupt font on your system.

Writer's Web page wizard was stripped out at 5.4 for bug 99967, its been gone
for some time. Guess you meant Impress, or possibly Draw.

The Draw/Impress export wizard fully removed at 24.2.0 as noted.

Export to PDF will provide paged representation of document, suited for
presentation.

However, if you need Draw/Impress pages or slides with high fidelity, make
page/slide selections and with the Export... dialog, pick the "SVG - Scalable
Vector Graphic (*.svg)" filter. That will produce a W3C SMIL 2.0 compliant
presentation with SVG graphics.

See bug 117708 for how that would be more clearly worked into UI, if ever. And
work is needed on the filter(s) to bring them to more current SMIL 2.1 level.

> (In reply to Dieter from comment #30)

> to discuss just one page style per bug. Any objections?

Yes, because if we did that, the general fault with the misuse of page styles,
for things which are not page styles, would be used to argued that any
suggestion of removal of an individual style. Plus, it would preclude more
fundamental solutions of the problem.

However - if people who have commented on this bug so far are willing to commit
to not making that argument, and protecting individual bug pages from such
objections, I am willing to adopt that approach.

> > I just discovered this bug report which looks rather like a thread about
> > page style philosophy.

Some arguments were made in some of the comments, which you could call
"philosophical". Still, the bug is not about materialism vs idealism or whether
a god exists or not, it's about supposed Page Styles which are not really
Styles of Pages, or are confusing, or otherwise don't make sense.

A large fraction of UI/UX bugs are about UI elements or behaviors which don't
make sense, or confuse, or are inconsistent with what they're supposed to be.
We don't close them as philosophical.

(In reply to Cor Nouws from comment #31)
> Main problem is that a 'bug'-report is written without understanding of the
> topic ;)

The main problem (or one of the main problems) is that there is a
_mis_understanding of the topic by people who are simply used to a faulty
status quo.

> There is the risk of trying to look at one page style isolated from the
> context, that may include other page styles. But...
> I agree to close this one.

It is impolite to close people's bugs when they have not indicated they approve
of the closure, without discussing it with them; and that goes doubly for
people who are frequently on this Bugzilla and are likely to respond and not
just disappear.

Now to have "Google Drive" available on droplist from Linux, I put this on

but perhaps it requires more info.

I must recognize I don't know how to use these variables.
I mean, why on Windows the "Google Drive" option appears and not on Linux?

  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: UI
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org

Description:
On starting LibreOffice (without draw or writer or such) I get a screen with my
recent documents as icons.

On that screen, I'd like to select multiple recent documents and open them all
in their own window. So to compose a fresh start with multiple recent
documents.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. stop libre office
2. Start "libre office" from the start-menu, not using the writer or such.
3. See your recent documents and now try to open 3 or 4 documents at once.

Actual Results:
Only the first selected document can be opened.
All others need to be selected on an other route, like file-recentdocuments or
such.

Expected Results:
Be able to open a couple of recent documents on startup to restart my work.

Reproducible: Always

It wasn't present in LO before 6.2, because the direct connection wasn't part
of LO. Up to LO 6.2 you had to install an extension to get direct connection to
MariaDB/MySQL. Have a look here:

A new feature couldn't be a regression. The behavior has been introduced with

Agree with that.
Or maybe to avoid the disruption, for all those, create a second combination.

It happens in a Spanish keyboard layout with 'Ctrl+; to insert current date in
a cell, there is no way to get it because ';' is the shift of ',' and
'Ctrl+Shift+,|;', doesn't get it.

[Bug 128950] With LO Base 6.2, it is no longer possible to change the Database connection type in "MySQL (Native)"

Hello QA Team,

I did a new test today, and the problem is still present.

Here is the LibreOffice system info :
  Version: 24.2.1.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
  Build ID: db4def46b0453cc22e2d0305797cf981b68ef5ac
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19045; UI render: default; VCL: win
  Locale: nl-BE (en_BE); UI: en-US
  Calc: CL threaded

The issue is a regression, since it was not present in version 6.1.6.3.
The issue first appeared in version 6.2.0.1 and is still present today.

It would be great to have the "native connector" to MariaDB and MySQL (which is
IMHO the best connector by far !) included is the dropdown list !

Caolán had fixed similar for the Tools -> Options -> View labels for see also
bug 87876 [1]

The Tools -> Options -> Accessibility dialog panel [2] could use similar :wrap
and maybe tool-tip handling for long l10n translations?

Anywhere else?

Main problem is that a 'bug'-report is written without understanding of the
topic ;)
> well as different page styles. So for me best way would be - if necessary -
> to diiscuss just one page style per bug. Any objections?
There is the risk of trying to look at one page style isolated from the
context, that may include other page styles. But...
I agree to close this one.
Thanks,
