Re: [Lubuntu-desktop] text files bug

Try it with the usb key formatted as ext2 or ext3 and I think the issue will no longer be there. Try it in Ubuntu (as opposed to Lubuntu) with a FAT formatted USB key, and I expect it *will* still happen. I think that this is a pcmanfm problem, but i really don't know. I'm using pcmanfm 0.9.7 on 10.04. Unlikely. Test that by using a Ubuntu LiveCD and nautilus to copy the files around; I am fairly sure it will do the same thing. I've tested it in my three lubuntu machines, all did the same. I've tried it before and after the lxde/ppa update. Probable Cause: NTFS and FAT filesystems do not have a per-file executable flag, so files on them cannot be marked executable or non-executable in a clear and consistent manner. Linux does its best when dealing with these filesystems, but will not be perfect in maintaing Unix file permissions unless you use a more suitable filesystem. [Lubuntu-desktop] Pidgin Suggestion
Team: Since Lubuntu uses libnotify for NM, transmission, power-management Gnome-Mplayer I would like to make a very humble suggestion package to be included on lubuntu: pidgin-libnotify. It would be nice to have an unified looking desktop. I'm testing it since a few days and it works great so far. If you agree, i hope's not too late for it to be included in 11.04 -- jpxsat ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~lubuntu-desktop Post to : lubuntu-desktop@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~lubuntu-desktop More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

I wish Ubuntu did, actually -- I already have live-helper-based Lubuntu LiveCD creation working, and those ISOs boot in virtualbox for me, which the ones created from Julien's process do not (yet!). Now I just need to solve the virtualbox boot problem (updating the livecd image contents, probably) and deal more elegantly with the md5sum stuff, and I'll (hopefully) have something worth running daily or weekly to publish Lubuntu Desktop ISOs (both i386 and amd64) to the world :) Jonathan -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: GnuPG v1.4.10 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iEYEARECAAYFAk1l8wEACgkQUGfT4+mKBLLZMQCfbbLrIm01KOq3fedXxuuIaOqR rnoAnjyof4vE+hWletS1o5TVIt1dxxev =/CeG -END PGP SIGNATURE- ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~lubuntu-desktop Post to : lubuntu-desktop@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~lubuntu-desktop More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Jonathan, This is pretty awesome stuff, but I do recall you telling me it was something you wanted to achieve. Talk about give a dog a bone! Thanks, Phill.
