Savino & Schneiderman - lutes & guitars: free concert Sun. 10/17
The CSUS Department of Music and the Visiting Scholars Program will present=20 Les Deux Amis in recital on Sunday, October 17 at 7:30 pm in Room 151 of=20 Capistrano Hall. This is a FREE concert. Made up of lutist/guitarists John=20 Schneiderman and Richard Savino Les Deux Amis will present a diverse program= featuring=20 music for the baroque guitar, baroque lute and duo classical guitars perform= ed=20 on period instruments.=A0 Featured composers will include Ludovico Roncalli, Sylvius Leopold Weiss,=20 Johann Kaspar Mertz and Franz Joseph Haydn. Specializing in baroque lute and early 19th guitar John Schneiderman has=20 recorded numerous cds and has taught at numerous festivals throughout the=20 country. He serves on the faculty of the University of California at Irvine.= In=20 addition to the concert Mr. Schneiderman will also offer a lecture/mastercla= ss on=20 the following day at 11 am in Room 209 of Capistrano Hall, these events are=20 sponsored by the Visiting Scholars Program at CSUS. With close to 20 recordings to his credit on the Harmonia Mundi, Naxos, Koch= ,=20 Cantelina and=A0 Stradivarius labels CSUS Professor Richard Savino is well=20 known to Sacramento audiences. Most recently he and soprano Jennifer Ellis w= ere=20 finalists in the Early Music America Competition held in New York. Next spri= ng=20 Koch International Classics will release his recording of baroque guitar mus= ic=20 by Robert deVisee and a recording of Latin American Villancicos and Cantadas= =20 by his group El Mundo. Arne, You could write her a letter, unfortunately she has no e-mail, she's in her seventies but still working, especially on Flemish luteplayers and lutecomposers from the "Ancien régime". I can give you her postal address. Most of her writings are published in flemish (dutch). She will feel happy finding people interested in Adrian Denss.
