For anyone who wants an alternative, the AIM app is very accessible and works well with FB chat. My last trial of Adium, it wouldn't take my passwords, even though I know they are correct. You can also use facebook chat in IChat via Jabber. Just use chat.facebook for the server name and put in a Facebook username and password. It works very well.
