Title:
  Use the Bootstrap CSS framework

Status in Mahara:
  In Progress

Bug description:
Mahara's CSS, and general front-end coding, is a bit chaotic. So for
the past several months we've had a couple of front-end developers
working on rewriting the entire Mahara front end to use the Bootstrap
  CSS framework. http://getbootstrap.com/css/

This should make all of our front-end development work easier
henceforth, as well as providing a nice set of standard widgets to
make Mahara look better right away.

Bug description:
This is a follow up on Bug #1376997 Date picker not working for certain
languages
The date picker works with the dd.mm.yy format when editing access ("shared
by me" page).

However if you are to change in langconfig.php the parameters to a french
format:
  $string['calendar_dateFormat']= 'dd/mm/yy';
  $string['strftimedatetimeshort'] = '%%d/%%m/%%Y %%H:%%M';

You can use the date picker and define a new access. However, you
cannot edit a preexisting access besause it doesnt show up when you go
to edit it. You are forced to redefine all your access if you want to
  modify anything.

Theres also a problem when you try to define "Access start date/time"
and "Access end date/time" in the Advanced option. It will take the
dd/mm/yy format of the datepicker. However, you cannot choose a day
higher then 12. You can on the other hand enter a mm/dd/yy format into
the textbox manually to define the access.

If the code itself is too complicated to fix, there should at least be
a converter to show the chosen date format to the users.

Submissions to group; only last five submissions display

Bug description:
In a Controlled group page, under heading "Submissions to this group",
only the last five submissions are listed. Clicking on the link for
the Next page displays "undefined" under the same heading; we expect
to see earlier submissions. Even if there are 35 submissions
(generating estimated 7 pages) links for only two pages are offered.

  Link on 2/Next/Last:
  https://[mahara]/group/view.php?id=723=723==5

  Steps to reproduce:
  1. With a user (teacher) with Site staff role, create a controlled group.
  2. Add at least six users (students) to the group.
  3. Logging in as each of the students in turn, submit a collection or page to
the controlled group. (You may wish to view the list of entries under the
group's 'Submissions to this group' heading as you go.)
  4. When you've submitted more than five collections or pages, the link to
page 2 / Next will appear. Clicking on the link will display the Group page
with 'Submissions to this group' = undefined.

  Mahara 15.04.1, Linux, mySQL
I believe this is our first use of a Controlled group in this way since we
upgraded a few months ago from v1.9 a few months ago.

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 1491639] Re: Need to update group 'shared with me' block config values on upgrade 15.04+

2015-09-02 Thread Robert Lyon
To test when upgrading from version 1.9 or below:

Set up a 1.9 site with two users, A and B

1) Log in as User A and create a group, Group A

2) Log in as User B and create three pages, Page 1, Page 2, and Single
page - Place page 1 and 2 into a collection, Collection 1

3) Have User B share the Collection 1 and Single page with Group A - do
this via the 'Share with other users and groups' search option.

4) Log back in as User A and view the group home page - you should see
all three pages listed under the 'Pages shared with this group by
others' section.

5) Upgrade the site master and check the Group A home page - the pages
will not be listed

6) Check out the patch 5204 and run the upgrade on the admin/index.php
page and then re-check the Group A home page

The pages should be listed again where Collection 1 is listed under the
'Collections shared with this group' sub header and the Single page
under the 'Pages shared with this group' sub header.

To test when upgrading from version 1.10:

Set up a 1.10 site and follow the first 4 steps from the above
instructions. Then edit the group homepage so that either one of the
pages or collections are set to 'off'.

Then do step 5 and 6 from above.

You should only see listed on the group homepage the option that you did
not set to 'off'

Title:
Need to update group 'shared with me' block config values on upgrade
  15.04+

Status in Mahara:

Status in Mahara 15.04 series:
  In Progress

Bug description:
In pre 15.04 versions Group homepages have a 'Group pages' block
showing the pages that are shared with the group (a yes/no option).
This includes pages by members and non-members alike.

After upgrade to 15.04+ there was a new option added so that we have:
  * None
  * By members of this group
  * By anybody

But the problem is we added the new option, By members of this group,
to the '1' value (the same as 'yes' before) rather than to the 'by
  anybody' option (which is '2').

This means on upgrade any pages shared by non-members stop showing up
on the shared list for this block.

We need to run an upgrade for the group homepages to make any 'Display
shared pages' that were set to 'yes' before hand to be set to 'by
anybody' so that the same display rules are preserved.

Bug description:
  Mahara version15.04.1

This report is in relation to my earlier forum post
  https://mahara.org/interaction/forum/topic.php?id=7310 but I have
  tracked down the problem.

  Issue:

User is logging in via SAML and the user is being auto-created on first login.
Remote username is a unique id (example:
51c717bc-425c-4b31-9674-d38ba03b4f1f)
When the user tries subsequent logins they are rejected with a error message
that the user already exists and cannot be created.

  Reason:

When the user is auto-created only the first 30 characters of the unique id
are stored in the username field so the user is not recognised as being on the
system when cheaked agains the full username from the login.
The system then tries to auto-create the user, which fails because the full
unique id is stored in the 'auth_remote_user' table.

  Solution:

Changing $maxlen from 30 to 40 in function get_new_username() of
user.php populates the user name with the full unique id.

Maybe this could be a configurable option?

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 1415252] Re: New Behat step: We need a step for dialogue boxes

2015-09-02 Thread Robert Lyon
I found it was not as easy as having those steps mentioned in comment #3
as often what happens is one step triggers the popup, eg deleting
something or navigating to another page so the behat fails out as it
doesn't fully do that step before getting to a possible 'I accept the
alert' step in behat scenario.

That's why for 'I delete the block' step I added the code to accept the
popup as part of that function.

Title:
Truncate page / collection titles in select 2 box on "Edit access"

Status in Mahara:
  In Progress

Bug description:
  on 15.10 master

Page and collection titles on the "Edit access" in "Shared by me"
should be truncated in the middle because when they are too long, they
are not fully displayed and we can't put a page break in them.
Truncating them at the end is not ideal as we'd then not see "v.1" or
any other changes that are usually put at the end of a title.

Truncation should be fine because there is a hover effect which shows
  the entire title.

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 1491639] [NEW] Need to update group 'shared with me' block config values on upgrade 15.04+

2015-09-02 Thread Robert Lyon
Public bug reported:

In pre 15.04 versions Group homepages have a 'Group pages' block showing
the pages that are shared with the group (a yes/no option). This
includes pages by members and non-members alike.

After upgrade to 15.04+ there was a new option added so that we have:
* None
* By members of this group
* By anybody

But the problem is we added the new option, By members of this group, to
the '1' value (the same as 'yes' before) rather than to the 'by anybody'
option (which is '2').

This means on upgrade any pages shared by non-members stop showing up on
the shared list for this block.

We need to run an upgrade for the group homepages to make any 'Display
shared pages' that were set to 'yes' before hand to be set to 'by
anybody' so that the same display rules are preserved.
