Hi, again I'm getting bounces for one specific provider: Germany's T-Online. The bounce log itself doesn't show something worth mentioning, but here's the bounce message I'm receiving. Re: [Mailman-Users] Users complain, they don't receive mails from the list
Hi Guys! Many thanks for all your help so far! I managed to configure a valid rDNS record to day and the users from the blockings ISPs startet to receive mails again! Now I use the domain lists.rc-worms.de. If I enter that into the tool Mark mentioned (mxtoolbox.com), everything is stated as fine, except for "Reverse DNS does not match SMTP Banner". Could you please try to explain this a bit for me? I use Postfix as MTA... Many thanks again, Sascha. [Mailman-Users] Users complain, they don't receive mails from the list
Hello, I have some user on my lists, who complain they don't receive the list mails anymore, since a few days. Am am running Mailman 2.1.15 on Debian. The error log is empty, the archive seems to correctly contain all recent mails. The people saying, they don't receive the mails are on GMail and German Web.de hosts and they don't have bounces logged by Mailman. Can you help me with this? Are there any means, how I can analyse this issue? Re: [Mailman-Users] Users complain, they don't receive mails from the list
Mark, thanks for your answer. I just checked the bounce log. And I discovered a lot of entries like: Jan 25 18:33:24 2016 (2741) processing 9 queued bounces Jan 25 18:33:24 2016 (2741) : already scored a bounce for date 25-Jan-2016 Jan 25 18:33:24 2016 (2741) : already scored a bounce for date 25-Jan-2016 Jan 25 18:33:24 2016 (2741) : already scored a bounce for date 25-Jan-2016 where all mail addresses are from German Web.de and GMX. Both providers belong to the same company. Thinking about this, I remembered a bounce notification I received last week, where some of these addresses were set to disabled by Mailman, with the notification below. Did GMX/Web.de maybe change their mail processing policies with the start of the new year? Below follows an excerpt from the bounce notification. Kind regards, Sascha. "euve51864.serverprofi24.de" is the natural name of the vServer, I am running. I don't have a real domain configured, since I mainly just use it for mailman. I configured all Mailman lists to use something like @rc-worms.de, where is the www domain of my sports club, whose administrator I am. For better readability I named and configured all lists this way, to use < memb...@rc-worms.de>, <te...@rc-worms.de> as exlicity reply-to address and so on. This worked pretty well for years. Did it now turn into a problem, that reply-to address and domain () bear a different IP/rDNS result? Is there something you could suggest in this case? Should I maybe configure a subdomain on my vServer, like , from which the mails will be send from and can bear own DNS config? Re: [Mailman-Users] Users complain, they don't receive mails from the list
Dear Mark and all others, many thanks for your help so far. I am just starting to setup this subdomain, Mark advised me to. One thing regarding the Reverse DNS entry: How can it be necessary, to set up this record? Just imagine a server, where multiple domains are hosted, but the server only has one IP. If the ISPs really require rDNS entries, which suit to the mail originating domain, one would always need a 1:1 mapping of IP and domain, preventing multiple domains on a one-IP server, isn't it? EDIT: For better clarification, the www domain is hosted on a different (dedicated) web server. Mailman is running on a vServer of its own, it just uses as a nice readable domain for mail addresses, configured on the web server to forward each mail to the real physical (and not so nicely readable) address _ <any_mailing_l...@euve51864.serverprofi24.de>mailing <any_mailing_l...@euve51864.serverprofi24.de> _l...@euve51864.serverprofi24.de <any_mailing_l...@euve51864.serverprofi24.de>>. [Mailman-Users] Requesting Mailman admin pages with different server domains
Hello, I am running several Mailman lists on a vServer, where the admin pages are called via http://lists.vServerID.vserverhost.de/mailman/admin/listname All is running fine, with this domain configuration. The server is maintained by Plesk 12. Now I configured a nice own domain, like: mydomain.de And I setup an Apache Virtual Host with (among other settings): ServerName lists ServerAlias lists.* ScriptAlias /mailman/ /usr/lib/cgi-bin/mailman/ ScriptAlias /cgi-bin/mailman/ /usr/lib/cgi-bin/mailman/ which allows to call the lists admin pages via http://lists.mydomain.de/mailman/admin/listname. At first instance, this works. But once I click on any link within Mailman's admin interface, the pages are requested via the previous (not so nice) URL http://*lists.vServerID.vserverhost*.de/cgi-bin/mailman/... How can I avoid generating these kinds of URLs? This also means, authentication cookies are not valid, since the domain changes. I'd like to keep the URL's domain structure I initially called the admin interface with, i.e. http://lists.mydomain.de/... It's like Mailman is creating absolute URLs, instead of just relative ones!? In advance, thanks for your help! [Mailman-Users] Get newer version of Mailman for Debian 6?
Hello there, I am running a vServer on Debian6. Via apt-get install mailman I installed and set up Mailman 2.1.13, which is running fine with 5 mailing lists on my server. Motivated by all those discussions about Yahoo's DMARC on this list, I wondered whether I can upgrade my Mailman installation to a newer version. I tried apt-get update and apt-get upgrade but I did not receive a newer version of Mailman. Unfortunately I don't consider myself as good enough in Linux usage, to be able to build Mailman binaries from scratch on my own. Indeed I tried, but already upon executing configure (Step 3 in Mailman's installation guidehttp://list.org/mailman-install/node7.html) I got a python warning Distutils is not available or is incomplete which seems to tell me I should install another Python environment. So I came to the point when I decided that compiling Mailman on my own is too complicated for me, because in the end I definitely want a bug-free installation of Mailman. Is there maybe an easier way to get a more recent version of Mailman for my server? In advance, thanks for your help! I just searched a bit through this lists archive. I found this post: http://www.mail-archive.com/mailman-users@python.org/msg47862.html I just did a ps ax and saw quite few qrunner processes, but no archrunner process. Could this be the reason? How do I start the archrunner process? Thanks, Sascha. 2012/1/23 Sascha Rissel sas...@rissel.it Hello there, I have just moved my mailing lists to a new (now an own) server. On the old server, I had the archive running, archie_private set to private and archive_volume_frequency to daily. Unfortunately, the archive remains empty. When I open the archive, I just get the messages: No messages have been posted to this list yet, so the archives are currently empty. What do I have to undertake to get the archive running? [Mailman-Users] Login as Mailman admin via URL parameters?
Hello all, just one thing that came to my mind: Since I administrate several mailing lists, it is always a bit complicated to retrieve the appropriate password from a password tool and then being able to log into the site. I know some Internet epplications, where administrators can log in using request parameters, such as http://myurl?user=userpassword=password Is this possible with mailman? It would save me quite some overhead, since often I just want to moderate a single email, which means log in procedure takes longer than the moderation process itself. [Mailman-Users] Spam Filter settings
Hello, during the last days I receive a lot of spam mails like Yulenka wants to be your friend in subject. Now my knowledge about regular expressions has grown a little old... Can someone please give me some help on how I should configure my mailmail spam filter to filter out mails with a subject like ... wants to be your friend? Thanks a lot!
