MI Footers, etc

2000-09-19 Thread Talkofsky GS09 Stuart H

Just wondering, is there a way to put an automatic footer in the Layout
window, such as the date and time or any other information? I just was
thinking of having something at the bottom of a layout to automatically
distinguish one printing from another without me doing it manually.

MI RE: Footers, etc - answered my own questoin

2000-09-19 Thread Talkofsky GS09 Stuart H

I figured out how to do what I wanted to do. I created a table - DATE,
listed it as a date field , then opened the browser (no data in the
browser), right clicked in the browser and a dialog box came up, I clicked
'PICK FIELDS' in the dialog box and then I clicked "ASSIST" in the next box
and put the expression "currentdate( )" and the current date was put in the
table and I inserted this table into the layout table calling up the window
with the browser name.

Figured I would share it as long as I asked.

SHOULD BE "CurDate()" NOT "CURRENTDATE()" (leave out the quotes) as I
stated, got another solution from a helpful lister.

Thanks

MI County Maps

2000-08-22 Thread Talkofsky GS09 Stuart H

I am a user of Mapinfo 6.0. I used the US County map to determine the sizes
of some county via the area. Someone else looked up maps based on the U.S.
Census and got a different area size for the same areas. What does the
Mapinfo map take into consideration that say, the Census doesn't. Why should
the area be different. I hope I asked the question correctly.

MI Mapinfo Window

2000-06-14 Thread Talkofsky GS09 Stuart H

When I mininumize the various Mapinfo windows, I am working on within a
workspace, I can not see the whole name of the window. Just wondering if
there is a way I can change the size of the minimized "box" to see see the
whole name. Maybe make it taller and have it wrap around? Perhaps put the
mouse over it and the name shows up separately? Been doing Mapinfo for
several years, this is just an annoyance, not really a big problem.

2000-05-09 Thread Talkofsky GS09 Stuart H

I have a Street map I put together based on some other maps for a certain
region I created. I asked via objectinfo for the attributes of the red major
highway line
.
I used the following SQL formula and I get a response telling me there are
no objects with the attributes I am looking for.

Select * from NYSTREET050800 where Str$(objectinfo(obj,2))=
"Pen(2,2,16711680)" into Selection

Pen(2,2,16711680) are the attributes I am looking for in my maps.
Can someone please tell me where I am wrong here.

Thanks

RE: MI The Census - No Demographics?

2000-03-16 Thread Talkofsky GS09 Stuart H

I got the Census too, kind of bugged me with the lack of questions and all.
They at least know where you live and how old you are. I expected more
questions. I think they are sampling the rest of the population for the
other stuff. I read there is more than one form. When do people think we
will have the information available to us? Hopefully the info would be on
the free census site. I don't know if there is any budget for us to get
complete new information, I know this info is on the bottom of the
priorities when it comes to tight budgets.. Something to think about in
future planning.

Subject: MI The Census - No Demographics?

I just filled out my 2000 census. Interestingly, it asked only about how
many people, what race they were, and whether I owned my house.

There were no demographic questions. Is this true? Does this mean no
 free year 2000 demographics?

MI Temp Directory

1999-07-26 Thread Talkofsky GS09 Stuart H

Due to the way they set up my machine here, I only have limited room on the
C:\ drive Temp directory. Using Windows NT. Can I instruct Mapinfo to use
another drive for the temporary files? and how do I do that?
