Your wallet. That's a bit much for a 240D in the condition you describe.

Strike that. That's way more than I'd pay for a 240D in that condition. It's
not quite Kaleb fodder, but it might be getting close.

So is $1300 a good deal on a 240d? very minor rust A/C is empty needs rotors
and calipers rebuilt, glow plug light stays on longer than normal but once
warmed up goes out and runs fine. Was hoping it was M/T but sez auto works
 great.

Re: [MBZ] CARFAX please

2005-08-18 Thread Steve MacSween
Real men only need cars with four pots.

Anyway, most cars for sale at the bottom-feeder end of the pond are going to
need SOMETHING. (Oh, yes, now I've gone and done it, some wisearse is now
going to reply about the museum-kwality 300sd he bought for $800 last year,
blah blah blah... LoL.)

Seriously, Rory, why does the current owner say it needs caliperS rebuilt?
Did it sit for a prolonged period? If so, be very careful about having the
car checked. Prolonged inactivity (which I define as 12 mos) is as bad for
Mercedes as it is for people.

Re: [MBZ] CARFAX please

2005-08-18 Thread Rory
Hey Steve,
The car was bought for his mother and she now is unable to drive, he said
they are the 4th owner on it but had it checked with MBZ shop near Santa
Monica. Well it looks like the red lights are starting to go off and looks
like I should not invest anymore of my time in it, price looked good.
So I'll start my search for what I really think I should get and that is a
190D unless someone can talk me out of it. Seems to me that 300's can be had
all day long, but 190's are on the short list.
On my other post I had asked which MBZ gets the best fuel mileage, most said
go with the 190D series. I want a good looking car for driving back and
forth to work and trying to keep it under $3000

The hunt is on
