Re: [Mimedefang] Embedded images
I commented out Anomy and my problem of removing external links to image files went away. Re: [Mimedefang] Embedded images
OK, I guess I can agree that having Anomy in an if/else loop function that never gets executed would avoid the collateral damage that Anomy can cause ;-) Regards, KAM - Original Message - From: "Kelson Vibber" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Friday, June 04, 2004 12:47 PM Subject: Re: [Mimedefang] Embedded images > I've actually kept Anomy in our filter, though under very limited > circumstances: > ... > I'm not sure it's worth keeping around - I'm not sure it's even hit that > function in ages, since there's no log directive associated with it - but > it *does* avoid collateral damage. ___ Visit http://www.mimedefang.org and http://www.canit.ca MIMEDefang mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.roaringpenguin.com/mailman/listinfo/mimedefang

I've actually kept Anomy in our filter, though under very limited circumstances: If a virus is detected that is NOT a known mass-mailer (i.e. starts with "Worm.", ends with "@mm", or matches a small list of mass-mailers whose names don't fit the pattern), AND the message contains an HTML portion, then I run Anomy after quarantining the attachment. (If it *is* a mass-mailer, I just quarantine & discard the message.) I'm not sure it's worth keeping around - I'm not sure it's even hit that function in ages, since there's no log directive associated with it - but it *does* avoid collateral damage. A) See http://mailtools.anomy.net/ B) Don't use Anomy. I believe the quote I made once about Anomy is: "It's my belief that anomy's html cleaning abilities are significantly lack-luster/problematic/etc. as to possible merit removal from MIMEDefang at some near point in the future ;-)" In short, I recommend not using Anomy. I'd like for it to work and work well with minimal collateral damage. Regards, KAM > I have a failry standard filter, I dont have action_rebuild enabled but I > do have Anomy::HTMLCleaner installed. I have a failry standard filter, I dont have action_rebuild enabled but I do have Anomy::HTMLCleaner installed. What exactly does Anomy::HTMLCleaner do and is there a way to log its activity? Re: [Mimedefang] Embedded images
Brent, I've been working on writing the code to add the feature to disable images so my answer would be no, MD does not disable images. However, perhaps MD is the culprit in a roudabout way. For example, does your subfilter have an action_rebuild or disclaimer being added that might possibly be causing MIME emails to break? KAM > Does Mimedefang change image links in HTML emails?
