(Posted by Frank Gosiak via moumn.org) It was at Headwaters Pkwy and the South end of Falk at 5:30. Also, met up with Herb Dingman in Garrison where he relocated the Red Knot North of the Big Walleye along the shore and on the docks. There were also 20 Ruddy Turnstones, Sanderlings, Black Terns, and 1 Semipalmated Sandpiper. This was at 8:30 pm. Snowy egret is right where you said Peter. In the corn stalks with Canada geese. Re: [mou-net] Snowy Egret in Washington County
When I left the area, the Snowy Egret had followed a Great Egret into some long grass and was not visible. They flew around a bit prior to that. The Snowy Egret was sticking with the Great Egret the entire time I observed it. There is also a Bobolink colony immediately to the south, and a Brewer's Blackbird colony just south of Headwaters Parkway on Fenway. Re: [mou-net] Snowy Egret in Washington County
The bird is no longer at 190th and Fenway. Bill relocated it to the north. Take Fenway north from 190th to Headwaters Parkway and go left (west) until it ends. Then go right until you get to Falk Ave N (brand-new street, not on the map). Go left on falk until it ends. The bird is off to the right in a wet agricultural area. Scope required. Bird distant and partially obstructed, but still present. [mou-net] Duluth Park Point
(Posted by Frank Gosiak via moumn.org) I had a slow day at the park. Early morning there were two Red Knots pecking on the shores on the lake side of the airport area. I also had a Marbled Godwit land on the ball fields in the afternoon. There were only a few warblers and not to many peeps. I did hear the Eurasian Collared Dove between the park and the lift bridge but did not see it. [mou-net] Hooded Warbler, Black-billed Cuckoo, Ramsey County
There are both male and female Hooded Warblers at Comp Park's Outdoor Classroom area, as well as Black-billed Cuckoo, seen within the 1/2 hr, just NE of the outdoor memorial fireplace. PS: There are a lot of school children and buses in the park today!
