Re: [mythtv-users] Confusing 6200 issue...
OK I finally got this to work right. (6200 firewire Live TV and captures) The problem is I'm not sure which change did it. I upgraded to 0.18.1 (Thanks Jarod!) and also upgraded to the latest stable IVTV (0.2.0-rc3j) at the same time (I'm running with both an m179 and the firewire interface) and now suddenly it's working. While watching live TV on the firewire tuner I can change channels with impunity from SD to HD sources and back again. I'm going to do some captures today from various sources to make sure that is working coinsistanly as well. I suspect the combination of the mpeg2ts sync bugfix and the imbeded 6200 channel changer thats included in 0.18.1 is what did the trick. -Skeeve ___ mythtv-users mailing list mythtv-users@mythtv.org http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users
Re: [mythtv-users] Confusing 6200 issue...
Matt, Did you ever get anywhere on this? I've encountered the very same issue in my configuration as well. (I'm running 0.18) Very hit-or-miss as far as capturing HD or SD over the firewire. I also have a similar problem when watching live tv over the firewire tuner. When I can access the tuner (actually get a picture) it works fine (pause, rew, ff all ok), but when I change the channel, it dumps me out. Ok, First let me give MAD props to everyone involved in getting firewire support working in myth! Now that I got that out of the way (serious, I was literally jumping up and down when I got it to just capture video), I'll try and describe what is going on right now. I can capture video in either SD, change the channel to another SD channel, and capture again...but if I capture from an HD channel, change the channel, and try another capture, I get 0 length files. If I power the cable box off on again, however, I can capture again. Can someone give me some help with where to look to see what is going on? Matthew Mousseau AMSVans, Inc. [mythtv-users] Firewire caputure issues
Ok, I finally got the 6200 connected and reliably capturing using the test-mpeg2 program. In Myth I've got two different scenarios going on. When I go to LiveTV on the tuner, sometimes I get a picture and other times I don't. (if I manually tune via the 6200ch program before going live it usually works) When I do, things work fine (pause, ff, rew) until I try to change the channel. When I do, the frontend crashes. Scheduled recordings don't work at all. The backend creates a zero length file and that's about it. I''ve tried both point-to-point and broadcast modes for talking to the firewire, with no difference in the behavior. System specifics are: Mythtv 0.18 + libiec + IVTV Gentoo 2.6.11 Sempron 2800+ in an ECS VT600 MB (VIA chip set) MX440 Nvidia (AGP 8x) using Xvmc Avermedia M179 Any ideas? [mythtv-users] DTC6200 Firewire - almost there
Folks, I'm in need of some help. I have Gentoo up and running (on the dev kernel 2.6.11-gentoo-r4) with the raw1394 support and iec61883 libraries. I complied mythtv 0.17 with firewire support. I built the 6200ch channel changer. I'm currently running with no other capture cards. The channel changer works over the firewire, and when I try to view live tv, I get a couple of frames of video a little bit of audio. The frontend complains about prebuffer pauses and that's it. I know I've got the firewire port and slot right (gschanbus is a wonderful tool). My question is: how can I test the firewire capture without going through mtyhtv? When I set up my old myth system (with an Avermedia M179) I could copy from the device directly into a file, and then play the file with an Mpeg player to verfiy it's operation. How do I do that with the firewire capture? Thanks for any help! ___ mythtv-users mailing list mythtv-users@mythtv.org http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users
