I tuned the station causing me problems three times and I got sound every time. Chad, you're my hero! :-) I don't know if it is relevant, but the channel (TV5) primarly airs programs from France which are transcoded to NTSC before they are broadcast on my Canadian cable system. After playing with audio for a few days, I noticed a setting that may help you in this case. I believe it's in the setup interface under the device section. Go to your PVR (/dev/videoX), and check the box for independent muting of L/R channels. Just a shot in the dark, but I remember reading that this option was for situations similar to your description. I still get the same intermittent problem with some channels some of the time. It happens most of the time with channel 15, but I also got a video-only recording last night on channel 21 (a CBS affiliate). Have you screwed the coax stright into the TV to see if the station is broadcasting both audio channels? My CBS affiliate screwed up during the NCAA tournamant. I had left and rear surround only for about a week. This is more likely than an intermittent audio driver problem associated with the channel of the tuner card. -- bjm ___ mythtv-users mailing list mythtv-users@mythtv.org http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users
Re: [mythtv-users] Audio - one channel doesn't play sounds
Both sound cards are fine. I get correct sound from all MP3s, DVDs, CDs. Live and recorded television is usually fine, except for the problem I mentioned earlier. And the bad recording from last night doesn't play on my windows box or on a bootable KnoppMyth front end (v. 5A12) on a second computer. I will check out the newer versions of ivtv. As you guessed correctly, I use an "older" (0.32q, which I picked up at ATrpms.net) version of the driver. Try a few different ivtv driver versions and see if it changes, or at least play the recordings on different hardware to rule out a cature problem. ___ mythtv-users mailing list mythtv-users@mythtv.org http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users

[mythtv-users] Audio - one channel doesn't play sounds
I have the wierdest audio problem with my fresh install of MythTV 0.17 (FC3, latest 2.6.10 kernel, installed using Jarod's howto and updated with ATrpms). My analog cable is connected to a PVR-250 through a coax cable and the quality is good for all 42 or so channels, except for one channel where I get video, but no sound at all. It's wierd, because, I get sound on this channel on another TV connected directly to the coax and on my cable box. The card is probably not the culprit because I pulled the PVR-250 from my Myth box and I've put it in my Windoze box, where I get sound on this channel. I don't know if it is relevant, but the channel (TV5) primarly airs programs from France which are transcoded to NTSC before they are broadcast on my Canadian cable system. I use the on-board audio of my MoBo (an Asus A7N8X-VM/400) which uses the snd-intel8x0 driver with the following configuration in /etc/modprobe.conf - CODE - [...] alias snd-card-0 snd-intel8x0 [...] options snd-card-0 index=0 install snd-intel8x0 /sbin/modprobe --ignore-install snd-intel8x0 && /usr/sbin/alsactl restore >/dev/null 2>&1 || : remove snd-intel8x0 { /usr/sbin/alsactl store >/dev/null 2>&1 || : ; }; /sbin/modprobe -r --ignore-remove snd-intel8x0 - CODE - What should be my next troubleshooting steps ? Thanks in advance, Claude PS: I searched the list before posting and I found two threads with a similar problem (one in December 2004 and the other last February). but there were no answers. ___ mythtv-users mailing list mythtv-users@mythtv.org http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users
