Re: [mythtv-users] importing old videos
I have a few stranded nuv files from when I rebuilt the database (after messing up a change of hostname...). I can find them now as videos but I can't play them - whay should I do? ~/mythtv/contrib/myth.rebuilddatabase.pl ___ mythtv-users mailing list mythtv-users@mythtv.org http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users

I've done this a couple of times using webmin, although I'm sure there is an easier cmdline that would do the same thing. If you don't have a backup you can still put the information into that database using webmin, you just won't have all of the description, category, etc. Always backup your database before mucking around with it unless you are willing to lose the data. I ended up doing the following: * Booting to the previous Myth installation * Using a Web browser on the local network to get a list of recorded programs via MythWeb, and printing the list. * Rebooting to the new installation * Using the printout and figuring out which disk file was which program You probably already know this, but the filename Myth gives a disk file for a recording is formed from the channel number, date, and starting/ending times for the recording. For example, a file named "1008_2005022812_2005022813.nuv" would have been recorded on channel 8, starting Feb. 28, 2005 at 12:00 Noon and going until 1:00 PM. * Renaming the files with names that reflect the content. * Moving the files into my MythVideo directory. This is probably not exactly what you had in mind -- the recordings show up in the list of videos, and not in the list of recorded programs, but you can watch them. --Tony ___ mythtv-users mailing list mythtv-users@mythtv.org http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users
[mythtv-users] importing old videos
Hi, I have a bunch of files from a previous Myth installation I'd like to import into a new installation. I have a backup of the old mythconverg database -- what tables to I need to import from the old DB into the new DB in order to get the files to show up in mythfrontend? -- Ben Steeves _[EMAIL PROTECTED] The ASCII ribbon campaign ( )[EMAIL PROTECTED] against HTML e-mail XGPG ID: 0xB3EBF1D9 http://www.metacon.ca/bcs / \ Yahoo Messenger: ben_steeves ___ mythtv-users mailing list mythtv-users@mythtv.org http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users
