Hi

I have an old Nagios installation where they made much use of
hostgroups. Hosts are arranged and contacts are configured to these
groups. (which isn't allowed in Nagios2 and newer)

Does anyone know if there is a nice way to convert this config to the
new format?
(contacts as part of the host not part of the hostgroup)

Hello People!!

Can you help me?

I installed plugin check_svn in my Nagios 3.2.3. When I run check_svn using

nagiosql:~# su - nagios

nag...@nagiosql:/usr/local/nagios/libexec$ ./check_svn -H 10.0.0.33 --https -U
lcarneiro -P --dir /svn/aocsw_config

SVN OK: svn repository online - directory listing successful

But, when Service Nagios run, not work. See:

SVN CRITICAL: Error connecting to svn server - OPTIONS of
'https://svnaero/svn/aocsw_desenv': Server certificate verification failed:
issuer is not trusted (https://svnaero)

Commands.cfg: $USER1$/check_svn -H $HOSTADDRESS$ --https -U $ARG1$ -P $ARG2$

check_command check_svn!lcarneiro!x!/svn/aocsw_desenv

I already accept certificate permanent (p) using svn info .
How can i know which USER run check_svn?
I think this could be the problem, because i need to accept certificate to user
that run check_svn.

Re: [Nagios-users] Check_http_Multipple_port

2010-10-27 Thread diego . roccia
As far as I remember there are no options for this in the standard check_http
plugin. You can create 2 checks (and maybe a third one that aggregates them and
trigger the notifications), or use a wrapper plugin running the 2 checks and
"merging" the results. Or you can use check_multi, but maybe it's too much for
your needs.

Re: [Nagios-users] How to determine the login duration of current user?

2010-10-14 Thread Diego Roccia
There's another solution: you could setup a logon script that sends
an nsca every time a user login to the server. Then, you can check the
service freshness against a 1 or 2 days threshold. It's a completely
different approach, but I prefer to use passive checks when I need to
trigger user created events, as I think it makes more sense (and less
load and traffic) than checking continously the logs.

Actually the init script is not ran if you're running it via xinetd.
you should look for server_args in /etc/xinet.d/nrpe (usually this is

If you run nrpe via xinetd, the standalone service has to be stoppedm if it's
not, xinetd can't bind the port.
Regarding the plugin location, you can change it in nrpe.cfg

If you implement some sort of email signing (like GPG) you can have
enough security with email commands.
Moreover, via email you can send commands to nagios even if its
interface is firewalled to the outside.

Re: [Nagios-users] question about check_by_ssh

2010-09-17 Thread diego . roccia
Actually, if nagios command definition is calling the dummy script, it won't
receive 2 statuses, but only one. Btw, you could pass more commands to a single
check_by_ssh, removing the dummy.

Maybe you can use ocsp:

But mind that obsessive command is executed after EVERY service check, not only

Re: [Nagios-users] Having single or double quotes in a custom variable

Single quotes are quite good, but, as Marc said, He needs to preserve them, too.
The only simple idea I can give is escaping them. I don't know why
it's not working, I'd advice to turn on command logging

Better to go with the 3.0 version :)

http://nagios.sourceforge.net/docs/3_0/tuning.html

There is a common problem I experience with google indexing: every time I look
for nagios docs, i'm redirected to old, (v2.0) one.

Subject: [Nagios-users] Different notification_interval for warnings and
critical notifications?

With Nagios 3.0.5, we have monitoring of our servers and hosts.

Currently, we get warning, unknown, critical, and recovery event
notifications sent to our contacts with escalations as expected.

We want to change the configuration to get warnings every 30 minutes
and other event notifications every 5 minutes with escalations.
Unfortunately,
notification_interval
which controls how often the notification is set can have only one
value for each service.

The only way I see to do get the warnings and other notifications on
different schedules is to have duplicate service checks for every
service.

Is there any way to do this without duplicating all of the service
checks?

Thanks,
Bob

Maybe some duplicated conf.
you could debug the script output (see nagios.cfg file)

Re: [Nagios-users] Bonding/Teaming Monitoring

2010-08-30 Thread diego . roccia
On the server part, you should go with:
 - monitor physical interfaces (snmp)
 - monitor bonding sytatus (in /proc/net/bonding/bond0, or the sysfs equivalent)

Moreover, you could monitor network interfaces on the switch side. You can for
example, use custom variables to store switch ports on server side.

What is your command line? Are you calling the script directly or is it
wrapped
in a shell script? I took a quick look at the script, and it needs quite a bit
of improvement. Not sure if it was a result of my copy and paste, but there is
only so much I can blame on bad formatting. I would recommend looking for a
different script that does the same thing.

Umm... Not sure. I just tried uncommenting and got the same results though.
I'm taking over managing the nagios server that we have from another collegue
who left the company. I've actually migrated everything over to another server
that is now running the latest nagios. The previous server was 3.0.6 I
believe. I tried searching for an updated version of these plugins, but
couldn't find any. I'm not that great with perl scripting either. :/

Hello all,

I've googled around everywhere trying to find an answer here and came up
unsuccessful, so if anyone has had experience in this situation, I'd appreciate
help!

Basically, the issue that I'm having is that I have a couple of temperature
plugins that are reporting errors in Nagios and at the command line they're
exiting in 0:

check7204temp.pl - Return code of 255 is out of bounds and checkciscotemp.pl -
Return code of 9 is out of bounds

If I run a "echo $?" at the command line after running the command
successfully,
I get 0.

Thanks for any help anyone can provide!! My perms are 755 and nagios user owns
the plugins and I've run successfully with nagios user and got 0 output. I'm
really stumped!!

Here's the code for the plugins:

***
check7204temp.pl:

[Nagios-users] embedded option in cgi

2010-08-16 Thread Diego Roccia
Hi guys,
I'm integrating nagios in an homemade monitoring and asset
management solution, with dokuwiki and request tracker. In order to
accomplish it, I need the cgi not to print part of the page.
running through the code, I've found out that I've to pass the
"embedded=true" option. Awesome; Exactly what I was looking for. But
the links in the generated page will not inherit the "embedded"
options, so, with the next click I will receive a complete HTML page.
I did not find any cgi.conf option for adding a "static" part to all
links.
Before I'll start to patch all CGIs, do you have some advice?

thanks in advance
Diego

[Nagios-users] Modifying custom variables via external commands

2009-12-11 Thread Diego Roccia
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Hi all,
I'm having some problem in changing custom object variables via
external commands. Using nagios 3.0.6 and 3.2.0 but it seems to ignore
*almost* completely my command.

> define service{
> namegeneric-service
> [...]
> _PRIORITY 1
> _SUPPORT_TEAM Tech Db - Generic
> action_url
> /wiki/doku.php?id=procedures:$SERVICEDESC$
> notes
> priority:$_SERVICEPRIORITY$Support
> Team(s):$_SERVICESUPPORT_TEAM$
> }

In the debug I see:

> [1260547711.216663] [128.2] [pid=18837] Raw command entry: [1260547696]
> CHANGE_CUSTOM_SVC_VAR;blinkongdbslave1;SSH Service;_PRIORITY;1
> [1260547711.216970] [001.0] [pid=18837] process_external_command2()
> [1260547711.216974] [128.1] [pid=18837] External Command Type: 148
> [1260547711.216979] [128.1] [pid=18837] Command Entry Time: 1260547696
> [1260547711.216983] [128.1] [pid=18837] Command Arguments:
> blinkongdbslave1;SSH Service;_PRIORITY;1

but the value of the variable is not being changed.
Any ideas? thanks in advance
