RE: [db] Progress of DB testing

2018-04-08 Thread enroi
I have finished "Database Test Specification" under JDK 10.
I have added few new minor/not important issues.
I can not edit main spec page
http://netbeans-vm.apache.org/synergy/client/app/#/specification/389/v/2
because i do not have "Edit" button. For Mercury spec I have edit button
http://netbeans-vm.apache.org/synergy/client/app/#/specification/298/v/2

Yes, you can update the test spec and make notes about this in a summary
format. If you update it outside the Test Run, it will show up in the Test
Run.

RE: [db] Progress of DB testing

2018-04-08 Thread enroi
Hello.

I have created https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/NETBEANS-622 for
http://netbeans-vm.apache.org/synergy/client/app/#/case/904/suite/2230/v/1
because I have found this minor bug. I have used number 622 as issue code
because I did not use word "NETBEANS-" in issue code in past. I will try use
"NETBEANS-" in issue code in future.

I did not change any test spec because in general I have understood all tasks.

I have finished tests with JDK8. I will repeat testing for JDK 10 now.

P. S. I have found such very minor issue. In NetBeans 9.0 build there is sample
DB for Derby what was created in version 10.14 of Derby database but with
Glassfish there is version 10.13 (from advise on main page of spec). NetBeans
does not show information about this and tells look to log file where this
description of issue can be found.

JDK 8v162 has version 10.11 of Derby.

When I have downloaded Derby v 10.14 from
http://db.apache.org/derby/derby_downloads.html i can work with tests. So I
have only one proposal to change advice from using Glassfish to using clear
Derby. I do not feel "power" to change main page for test ... now 

Hi Vladimir, I went to review your Test run on the DB Test Spec, I

think there is a typo for one of the failed test scenario.

key in (NETBEANS-622,NETBEANS-262) but the last one had 262832. Ahh,

the 262832, was linking to the old Netbeans.org Bugzilla site.

One of the good things I like about NB 8.x and prior versions, on how

bugs were reported. However, it took too much time to probably filter

through all those reported bugs as most were truly user error.

Someone would have to be staffed to review all those incoming defects

and validate the requests. That is a time consuming task.

Thanks for running the test. Did you make any changes in the Test

Spec itself? I know I am going to add some specific task notes for

MacOS. I will test both JDK8u162 and JDK10. I already copied the DB

drivers from my previous download for testing and the functionality

behavior is as expected, works!

Hi Database tribe,

this is a kind reminder about test run for 9.0 version finishing in
a week from now on 4/12 and it seems that only Efrem McCrimon
volunteered to test database drivers and connectivity. Unfortunately, it
seems that he is still at 0%.

Can somebody from the Database tribe help him and test the databases

that area tested at all in Apache NetBeans 9.0 GA release?

Thanks for your prompt reply.

RE: [vcs] Mercurial testing

Hello.

I have finished testing GIT module on NetBeans 383 on JDK 10.

Everything is the same except i have found "Cannot Apply Diff Patch in
Mercurial Project " on
second testing. But this issue is not related to JDK. On JDK 8 I have the same
problem. I have updated JIRA ticket with short description. I have added 4 test
projects. 2 where I do not have this issue and 2 where I have this issue. I do
not know what is reason why it worked on first time and does not work on
second. I do not see difference in projects structure.

Thanks for your help Vladimir.

If nobody else takes you up on the offer, perhaps you could give Git with

JDK 10 a try?

Thanks!

Hello.

I have finished testing Mercurial on JDK 8.

I did not have problems with any existing issues except issue
 529 that I also have.

I have found
NETBEANS-540 and 541.
These issues are not blockers and they are not important.

Before 13 April we have about 2 weeks i can help with something else:

1. I can retest Git with JDK 10.
2. I can install in Virtual Box VM any Linux system and test in Linux.
I worked with Ubuntu and can install it without big problems.
3. I can help with something else, not necessary with versioning.

Thanks so much for your help and enthusiasm. Either one of your suggestions
sounds good. Testing Git under both JDK 8 and 10 would provide greater
coverage.

I'm also testing Mercurial, and I'm on Linux, since you are on Windows,
your test would also provide greater test coverage.

I'll leave it up to you, go ahead and do whichever you prefer, Git under
Java 10, or Mercurial on Windows.

Thanks!
David

[vcs] possible isse with sftp://.... access to git

2018-03-19 Thread enroi
Hello Mark.

I have started to test GIT through this specification
http://netbeans-vm.apache.org/synergy/client/app/#/specification/382/v/2

I have found one problem with sftp
http://netbeans-vm.apache.org/synergy/client/app/#/case/1445/suite/2203/v/1

I have cloned NetBeans source from my GitHub account. I going to use GitHub
for testing where it is possible.

But with SFTP I can not use GitHub and need to use my own VirtualBox VM
(Ubuntu).

If I clone with ssh I can use such address
ssh://localhost:/home/enroi/repo01/incubator-netbeans/ and such address
also I can use
ssh://localhost:/home/enroi/repo01/incubator-netbeans/.git
"Localhost:" is port of my test VirtualBox VM.

But with SFTP I need use only such address
sftp://localhost:/home/enroi/repo01/incubator-netbeans/.git address to
folder with "objects" subfolder. I can not use such address
sftp://localhost:/home/enroi/repo01/incubator-netbeans/

Is it issue? Should I create new issue for this?

I see issue with number 000 is linked to sftp specification. Now this link
is broken. May be it was this issue.

Result for first part of GIT specification (Initiating/Cloning a new
project) I going to prepare to you on weekend max.

Vladimir Orlyansky.

Hello.
I can help with Git more faster because I worked with Git before. So with Git I
want to start.
Should I read
http://netbeans-vm.apache.org/synergy/client/app/#/specification/382/v/2 and
repeat all steps?

Vladimir,

I'm the tribe lead for the version control tribe.

Currently we need the most help with Git or Mercurial testing. Which one
would you prefer?

We are currently reviewing test specs at
http://netbeans-vm.apache.org/synergy/client/app/#/tribe/32/view.

Testing is scheduled to start this coming Monday.
