[nlug] Nashville Linux Users Group Monthly Meeting on April 14th, 2009 Meeting at 6:00PM

2009-04-13 Thread Kevin Eldridge
Hello Nashville Linux User's Group,

This month's meeting is Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at 6:00pm in the
Biostatistics department (Room D2221) located on the Vanderbilt campus. It
is at the
corner of 21st Ave S and Medical Center Dr. There is a map on the
http://www.nlug.org web site. Jason Orendorff will be presenting on an
exciting topic in the Free Open Source Software (FOSS) world. He delves into
the inner workings of Perl, Python, Ruby, and JavaScript. I encourage
everyone to come out, listen to this presentation, and have a fun time with
like minded *NIX users.

After the meeting (8:00 appr.) almost everyone goes to Pizza Perfect (Short
walk away down 21st Ave S), to have a pizza, salad, beer, just go for chat
and not eat, or whatever else you want. Instructions on how to get to the
meeting are posted on our web site listed in the signature. If you
unfamiliar with the campus, I recommend arriving a bit early so you can
familiarize yourself. I will not be at tomorrow's meeting. Have fun and I
will should see you in May.

I need to stop sending these out so late in the week.

Sounds great -- I changed the wiki and I'll be there.

I cannot speak for anyone else. However, that sounds like a good presentation.
If only I could make the meeting.

Since no one else has put anything on the web site, do you want to change the
info and present at 6:00pm tomorrow?

Surely there will be a lot of people that are interested in this presentation
topic.

I can send out the meeting notification with that in there if you would like.

I could present about how dynamic programming languages (Perl, Python,
Ruby, JavaScript) work. It's an exciting time for these languages and
FOSS, and it's always fun to see the moving parts inside the machine.
(I'm not sure how relevant it would be to anybody's day job though.)

[nlug] Re: Topics/Presentations for tomorrow's NLUG meeting?

2009-04-13 Thread Kevin Eldridge
Hello everyone,

There is no one scheduled to give a presentation tomorrow night. I am not
going to be there again this month. However, I should be back for Officer
Nominations the following month. Since I am about to lose my job at ACS in
two weeks, I have been rather busy the past two weeks interviewing and
looking for a job as a Trainer, Tech Support, System Admin whatever. Along
with the other 150 ACS employees.
My goal for this month was to simply have another open format meeting and
see how it goes for you all. Bring in your issues and we can discuss them
among the group. If anyone has anything they would like to bring in, bring
it. If there is someone that wants to present on a topic, please go to the
http://www.nlug.org web site and modify the topic and information for the
April meeting this week.

Thank you,

Kevin Eldridge

How about Chris McQuistion giving a reprise of his RSYNC/Dirvish
presentation?
