mtxrun --script cache

Okay. I've heard of this Metapost thing. After further investigation

Erasing the cache can mean erase all? This I didn't expect, sorry.

I was quite surprised that I can't run context.lua (eg. for making formats)

When I did it (mtxrun --script cache --erase), Is there something I can do to

[NTG-context] cals tables

2011-03-07 Thread R. Ermers
Dear All,

I am struggling with the processing of cals tables in mkiv. I used the module
x-cals, in different styles ([x][cals], etc.) but there is no effect, the table
is not typeset.

\usemodule x-cals.mkiv
\xmlloaddirectives x-cals-test.cdx

By way of experiment I also used the directives, but no avail either.

Should I write an xmlsetup for each element, e.g.

\xmlsetsetup{#1}{//thead}{xml:thead}
\xmlsetsetup{#1}{//entry}{xml:entry}

Can anyone help me out?

Thanks in advance.

Re: [NTG-context] font name has a space.

2011-03-07 Thread Jeong Dalyoung
Dear Taco,

Thank you for your comment.

I renamed the font to ~.ttf, luatools --generate first.

And try the same file.
At this time, there is no Fatal error messages, but still it doesn't locate
the font file.

So, I tested a few more things.

Test 1:
luatools locates all the fonts which has no space from the same font maker.
And, LuaTeX runs well to yield fine output.

Math-iMac:~ graph$ luatools 산돌돌CB.otf
/Users/graph/Library/Fonts/산돌돌CB.otf

Math-iMac:~ graph$ luatools 산돌명조B.otf
/Users/graph/Library/Fonts/산돌명조B.otf
###

Test 2:
luatools cannot locate the fonts which has space from the same font maker.

Math-iMac:~ graph$ luatools 산돌명조M.otf

Math-iMac:~ graph$ luatools 산돌명조 M.otf

Math-iMac:~ graph$ luatools 산돌명조\space M.otf

But it locates the same file if I enclose font name.
Math-iMac:~ graph$ luatools 산돌명조 M.otf
/Users/graph/Library/Fonts/산돌명조 M.otf

So I tired \definefont[testfont][file:산돌명조 M.otf], but LuaTeX issue an error

! LuaTeX error main ctx instance:1: ')' expected near '?'.

system tex error on line 30 in file testmp.tex: LuaTeX error ...

  \edef \somefontspec {at \n...
\dododefinefont ...inefont {#2}\rawfontidentifier

?

I tested english font which has a space in its name and got the same results.
For example, Geogia Bold.ttf font.
luatools cannot locate it and LuaTeX said unknown font. and used default font.

I renamed it GeogiaBold.ttf in /Library/fonts and tried again, but not succeed.

Hence, I think that the font whose name contains no space has no problem.
The fonts whose name contains a space make a trouble eventhough I removed the
space from it.

Am I doing right?

I am using Mac OSX. And,

This is LuaTeX, Version beta-0.65.0-2010121316

Re: [NTG-context] problem with tikz remember picture and overlay.

2011-03-07 Thread Curiouslearn
Hi All,

I realized one error in my tikz code. I forgot the semi-colon. But
with the semi-colon, the tikz part is completely ignored.

Anyhow, in a previous post here I found a good example of absolute
positioning of text using Context's positioning macro. That is awesome
for my current purpose. Thanks Peter for that (and of course, Hans for
everything).

But would still like to learn if Tikz's absolute positioning is
incompatible with Context.

I still have complete rewrite of minimals in my

The fonts are already here:

but I sent (and probably also already lost) a patch to Hans to allow
adding extra fonts. Three lines have to be added to mtx-update.lua to
fetch fonts from the extra tree. (And something else to fetch testing
files inside context directory.)

(An alternative is simply to take all the fonts into default

the system version. I deleted now the font from the tex directory and context
use now the system font.

You can check if context can font the font with

Re: [NTG-context] MnSymbol in ConText

2011-03-07 Thread Florian Wobbe
sure, if you cook up the definition for the virtualization (if the encoding
is default tex it's no big deal, otherwise some extra tables are needed) ...

the symbols aren’t the problem, what’s difficult is greek because the greek
letters are taken from minion pro (the text font) and not from a special math
font and this is where it gets tricky

Why not just merge Minion with MnSymbol and create a new font if virtualisation
is tricky? Of cause you cannot redistribute the new font but you could
distribute a fontforge script which does the merge. This way you could create
an OpenType Math font with greek already in the right slots. Maybe also merge
with Cronos to get sans math into the font.

[NTG-context] Layers for absolute positioning

2011-03-07 Thread Curiouslearn
Hi,

I have been trying to learn the best way to position text on a page.
From the messages it appears that a good way to do so, is to use
layers. But it seems that to activate them I need to set them as
background of the page. However, that removes the background color.
How can I get both layers and a background color?

I have given a minimal example below.

Thanks,
Bharat

This is the minimal example I am working with:

\setupcolors[state=start]
\setupcolor[xwi]

\setupbackgrounds[page][background=color, backgroundcolor=linen]
\starttext

\definelayer [windows] [x=3in, y=3in, width=3in, height=4in]

\setlayer [windows] [hoffset=1cm, voffset=1cm] {Windows 7}

\setupbackgrounds[page][background=windows]

\page[empty]

\stoptext

Dear all,

I see in the log file that the cals module is loaded.

system : module cals loaded
(/prog2/context/tex/texmf-local/tex/context/base/x-cals.mkiv
loading : ConTeXt XML Macros / Cals Tables

But the table is not typeset, which I had expected.

I do not know what I need to do now.

Do I need to map all elements to those of a Context table? (\bTABLE ...)?
(such as in: http://www.mail-archive.com/ntg-context@ntg.nl/msg50536.html)

Any advice is welcome.

Re: [NTG-context] MnSymbol in ConText

Seems like a good idea, but it's harder than it sounds. Here is what I
tried:
-Load MnSymbol12 in FontForge
-Run the script (by Florian, see email from 20. Feb 2011)
-Merge in Minion Pro (all of it :D )
-Generate OTF

...but the font (I also renamed it to be sure) does not show up in the
output. Instead LM-Math is used.
If someone succeeds, please let me know how you did it.

Re: [NTG-context] header text for each page of a chapter

2011-03-07 Thread Milton Galo Patricio Inostroza Aguilera
I'm still working on my issue without success :-(. I've posted my pdf
document [1]...if somebody could help me it will great for me =D.

The principal idea is to customize the name of the chapter (the header
text), Tarjeta de Crédito, to show the header text like the light
blue text Tarjeta de Crédito (position, color, size). In a nutshell,
I want that the light blue text become my header text.

As you can see, the second page doesn't have the light blue text but
It still has the name of the chapter (it is the desired behavior)

Don't worry, it didn't really change that much. The most important
change is that font specific definitions moved to the lfg files (only
the default vectors are preloaded). For a non standard font lucida can
be taken as example.
