[nysbirds-l] confirmed for sure Black Vulture nesting
Just wanted to update that the Black Vultures in the abandoned home on Seely Place in Scarsdale do indeed have at least one chick. I was informed by the tree crew cutting down trees on around the house that their boss photographed at least one chick. I was inquiring what they were doing and was told the new owners of the property are going to tear down the house in a few days and needed the trees cleared out around it:-( They told me that the boss was going to contact someone about the chicks, but they didn't say who. So I took it upon myself to contact DEC and let them know what was going on. Of course I was told they can do what they want around the house but if the home is being torn down then maybe the DEC will come out and get the chicks. The officer said he'd have to check into it:-( You'd think they'd know right away what to do. At least he was nice and seemed to take me seriously:-) He said he'd call me back if he needed to. I will call back to find out what happened after the holiday. Andrew Andrew v. F. [nysbirds-l] Olive-sides Flycatcher - Manorville-Yes
The previously reported Olive-sided Flycatcher is currently being seen and heard on the trail slightly north of the Jones Pond trail. It might be easier to park in the DEC area slightly to the north of the Jones Pond adjacent parking. Approx .2 miles from DEC #6(Telephone logged parking). Cross two fallen trees across trail . Check tops of dead trees north of trail, and marked with a pile of twigs and pine cones.
