Мартин, The test I've done so far are on Hipster/illumos-cb3c687 on a Dell T5400. The ISO from the windows version works fine as well as the extension pack installs fine. Hi Ben, great to hear this, BIG thanks to you again. Sorry also for the delay with the i915/drm-kms versus agpgart stack on <= gen5 GPU fix. Qt 4 versus 5 and VirtualBox simply kept me busy all of last week, but now that it is mostly completed I can finally continue on the other fronts: TODO: i915 auf <=gen5: agpgart _erweitern_ compiz Mate plugin-wrapper (qt5) 64bit xhci Sol11 bins I did not create the logo myself, but what I did was to find out how to show it on every boot as splash screen during what would be POST on a real computer. That alone took half a working day. By default the OSE only shows a black splash screen (totally black, only showing the Press F12 message [which is not part of the .bmp file itself]). Also I added the best and only real OpenSolaris distros to it [T.M.] to this logo and saved it in a very specific way so it actually works, rather than quitting the VM 1 sec after startup ;) The other aspects you described are true, but normal. Because it was configured and compiled under the terms of GPL2 as OSE (OpenSourceEdition). However: Technically the Oracle provided guest additions are compatible, and so is also the respective version-matching extension pack from Oracle, at the moment http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/5.1.6/Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack-5.1.6-110634.vbox-extpack I'm looking forward to more test results, especially USB. Hi, Install went on fine. I just needed to add the SMAP setting in the /etc/system file Nice splash and "About" screen. One thing to notice is that the Guest addition ISO is only offering Solaris version and the ISO itself is rather small compared to the VBox Windows version. I'll do some test using USB passthrough later on. Re: [OpenIndiana-discuss] TEST-pkg VirtualBox 5.16
First let me thank Predrag, Aurelien, Apostolos and you for having taken the time to test and report. As for now it is 4 (including myself: works) versus 1 (you). Given that this was installed not via ips with a strict 100% accurate dependencies handling this is already a good result. Now let us investigate what your host might be missing: To find out about it it would be helpful to get any details from you in reagrds to what you are using. Could you perhaps please post uname -a output? Which packages are installed or perhaps missing? Then, pls. open a shell window and start /opt/VirtualBox/VirtualBox from there. The "normal" output would be this: $ /opt/VirtualBox/VirtualBox Qt WARNING: Object::connect: No such signal QApplication::screenAdded(QScreen *) Qt WARNING: Object::connect: (sender name: 'VirtualBox') Qt WARNING: Object::connect: No such signal QApplication::screenRemoved(QScreen *) Qt WARNING: Object::connect: (sender name: 'VirtualBox') Qt WARNING: Object::disconnect: No such signal QApplication::screenAdded(QScreen *) Qt WARNING: Object::disconnect: (sender name: 'VirtualBox') Qt WARNING: Object::disconnect: No such signal QApplication::screenRemoved(QScreen *) Qt WARNING: Object::disconnect: (sender name: 'VirtualBox') Then perhaps let me know the details which teh VirtualBox GUI repost after impact. There are various possible reasons: * hardening related (wrong permissions for your /opt prevent you from starting a VM) * related to the splash screen I modified (long topic, but should not be the reason, because it is not a works here versus doesn't work there case, but either it recognizes the bmp or not) * are you sure your drivers attached and got loaded? Did you upgrade boot_archive and reboot? * Do you have qemu-kvm installed? If yes then the kvm module needs to be unloaded, it is mutually exclsuive to VirtualBox (because the CPU's virtualization extensions can only be owned by exactly one kernel module) While I do thank everybody for every postive or negative report, I must wonder why and how Solaris users report bugs like Win10 Home Edition first timers (ohh, doesn't work), without providing the slightest details. If you want help for free for a Vbox package that was created for free running on an OS that was created for free by a community who is willing to assist you for free, the least one can expect is a reasonable problem description, or am I still expecting too much even after I significantly lowered all my previous hop[es and expectations year over year during the most recent 11 years? >Понедельник, 19 сентября 2016, 18:48 UTC от russell >: > >Hi, > >I downloaded and installed the TEST-pkg of VirtualBox 5.1.6 >unfortunately everyone of VBOX started instantly aborted. [OpenIndiana-discuss] Fwd: TEST-pkg available: Hipster's future VirtualBox-5.1.6-SunOS-amd64-r110634.pkg
Пересылаемое сообщение От кого: Мартин Бохниг Кому: OpenIndiana Developer mailing list Дата: Понедельник, 19 сентября 2016, 8:50 UTC Тема: TEST-pkg available: Hipster's future VirtualBox-5.1.6-SunOS-amd64-r110634.pkg Hello, as promised here finally the binary SVR4 package for use on Hipster/OpenIndiana, OpenSXCE, XStreamOS or TribbliX from 2015 or newer. The ips stuff still needs some polishing and I release the src hipster-userland integration later today or next night after first some sleep. Yes, I *do* mean it when I say community team work (as you see from mentioning friendly distros). And more: I took the freedom to incorporate Jim Klimov's excellent https://github.com/jimklimov/vboxconfig_sh/blob/master/vboxconfig.sh Ahh and btw, I fixed the /platform/i86pc/kernel/drv/amd64/vboxusbmon /platform/i86pc/kernel/drv/amd64/vboxusb problem and now the (Oracle created/Solaris11.3 designed) driver loads on Illumos again, so thanks to this plus vboxconfig.sh postinstall completes without error. Here the test bins (src diffs, Makefile and ips manifest to follow soon) : http://opensxce.org/virtualbox5_qt4/testbins/ -1#.) Requires Hipster 2015++ (such as with a libc compatible to illumos-f83b46b) and /usr/lib/qt/4.8 #0.) Remove all previous SUNWvbox related packages (in the past userland bins and kernel modules were split into 2 packages). Now it is enough to: # yes|pkgrm SUNWvbox which will look like this: # yes|pkgrm SUNWvbox The following package is currently installed: SUNWvbox Oracle VM VirtualBox (i386) 5.1.6,REV=2016.09.19.10.01.110634 Do you want to remove this package?
