[Openstack] [Quantum] OpenStack Networking Grizzly RC2 available

2013-03-26 Thread Thierry Carrez
Hello everyone,

Due to a number of high-impact issues discovered in the first release
candidate, including logging issues, we created a new Grizzly release
candidate for OpenStack Networking (codenamed "Quantum").

You can find the RC2 tarball and the list of fixed bugs at:
https://launchpad.net/quantum/grizzly/grizzly-rc2

Unless new release-critical issues are found that warrant another
release candidate respin, this RC2 will be formally included in the
common OpenStack 2013.1 final release on April 4. You are therefore
strongly encouraged to test and validate this tarball.

Alternatively, you can grab the code at:
https://github.com/openstack/quantum/tree/milestone-proposed

If you find an issue that could be considered release-critical, please
file it at https://bugs.launchpad.net/quantum/+filebug and tag it
*grizzly-rc-potential* to bring it to the release crew's attention.

Happy regression hunting,

[Openstack] Recruiting - Translation Coordinator

2013-03-26 Thread Ying Chun Guo

Hi, all

Now the translation of OpenStack message strings and documents is managed
by Transifex. The access control in Transifex is set as "Free for all".
Anybody can jump in and contribute to the translation. It's easily to
attract translators but it's not good for the quality. In order to ensure
the quality of translation, there is a plan to enable the role based access
control of OpenStack project in Transifex.

This change will need to set up the translation team for each language,
including translators, reviewers and coordinators. The coordinators are the
leaders of a translation team. They are responsible for the set up of
translation team and the control of quality. Now I send this mail to
community and call for coordinators.

Responsibilities of coordinators include:
1. communicate with translators/reviewers in your team, coordinate the
translation and review work among the translators and reviewers in your
team.
2. control the quality of translation. Review each auto-generated
translation patch in Git review tool.
3. manage the translation memory and glossary for a certain language.
4. communicate with community about requirements, bugs, and issues of
translation.

People, who want to be a coordinator, don't need to worry about:
1. the size of the translation team. The translation team can grow from
small. If there is only 1 people who is contributing to the translation of
a certain language, that people could be the coordinator.
2. the usage of tools (Transifex, Git review, and etc.). We have many
people who can help you get familiar with the tools.
3. translation experiences and coordinator experiences. The community have
people with rich experiences who can give you guidance.

If you have passions and time, if you want to contribute to OpenStack
translation, feel free to contact with me.

Thanks and regards

[Openstack] [Ceilometer] Grizzly RC1 released

2013-03-26 Thread Julien Danjou
Hi,

We're pleased to announce that the RC1 version for the Grizzly release
of Ceilometer is available!

   https://launchpad.net/ceilometer/grizzly/grizzly-rc1

Unless release-critical issues are found that warrant a release
candidate respin, this version will be formally released as the
Ceilometer 2013.1 version on April 4. You are therefore strongly
encouraged to test and validate this tarball.

If you find an issue that could be considered release-critical, please
file it at:

 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ceilometer/+filebug

Note that the "master" branch for Ceilometer is now open for Havana
development, and feature freeze restriction no longer apply.

[Openstack] Ceilometer question

2013-03-26 Thread Wyllys Ingersoll

Perhaps this is documented but I can't seem to find it…

I want to use ceilometer to show usage from the swift objectstore. What would
the correct command be to extract that information? Currently, the various
"-list" commands just spit out various meter types along with resource and
project id values.

Thanks,

You want the "statistics" command from the v2 API.

ceilometer --ceilometer-api-version 2 help statistics

The CLI needs a little work to make the options clear, but the API
documentation may help explain:

When I perform a REST API call to Keystone from Java to get a token, I was
expecting to get an encrypted token that further had to be decoded with a
public key and then base64 decoded. However, the key I get back is only base64
encoded. Why isn't it encoded with the private key?

[Openstack] New site for questions http://ask.openstack.org

2013-03-26 Thread Stefano Maffulli

The OpenStack Foundation has launched a new and improved service to
help OpenStack users, operators and developers exchange information
and find answers to their questions.

Go to http://ask.openstack.org and get familiar with it, ask
questions there and search for answers.

If you want to be a moderator and help others by giving answers please
contact me.

The new service Ask OpenStack will take the place of the old forums
any time now (the dns for forums.openstack.org will point to
ask.openstack.org)

Unfortunately I have found no way to reach current users of the old
forums. If you know somebody that used to use forums.openstack.org
please tell them to use http://Ask.OpenStack.org instead.

thanks,
stef

[Openstack] what is the difference between 2013.1 and grizzly?

2013-03-26 Thread Liu Wenmao
I notice that openstack components have two different develop code names,
for example, openstack grizzly has 2013.1 and grizzly, so what is the
difference between the two?

There is a rc version of 2013.1 but none of grizzly, so I think they are
not equal to the developers.
