[openstack-dev] [sahara] PTL candidacy

2015-09-16 Thread Sergey Lukjanov
Hi,

I'd like to announce my intention to continue being PTL of the Data
Processing program (Sahara).

I’m working on Sahara (ex. Savanna) project from scratch, from the
initial proof of concept implementation and till now. I have been the
acting/elected PTL since Sahara was an idea. Additionally, I’m
contributing to other OpenStack projects, especially Infrastructure
for the last four releases where I’m core/root teams member now.

My high-level focus as PTL is to coordinate work of subteams, code
review, release management and general architecture/design tracking.

During the Liberty cycle we successfully continued using the specs system.
There were many new contributors during the cycle and we've renewed a lot
the core reviewer team as well. Tons of operability and supportability
improvements were done as well as number of interesting features.

For Mitaka cycle my focus is to keep going in the same direction and
to ensure that everything we're working on is related to the end users
needs. So, in a few words it's about continuing moving forward in
implementing scalable and flexible Data Processing aaS for OpenStack
ecosystem by investing in quality, usability and new features. I'd like
to highlight the following areas that I think very important for Sahara
project in the Mitaka cycle: security of Sahara and Hadoop as well,
scalability (first of all of Sahara itself) and EDP enhancements.

A few words about myself: I’m Principle Software Engineer in Mirantis.
I was working a lot with Big Data projects and technologies (Hadoop,
HDFS, Cassandra, Twitter Storm, etc.) and enterprise-grade solutions
before (and partially in parallel) working on Sahara in OpenStack ecosystem.

Thanks.

[openstack-dev] [Sahara] PTL Candidacy

2014-04-01 Thread Sergey Lukjanov
Hey folks,

I'd like to announce my intention to continue being PTL of the Data
Processing program (Sahara) PTL.

I'm working on Sahara (ex. Savanna) project from scratch, from the
initial idea, proof of concept implementation and till now. I have

I'm contributing to other OpenStack projects, especially
Infrastructure for the last release cycle where I'm now core reviewer.

My high-level focus as PTL is to coordinate work of subteams, code
review, release management and general architecture/design tracking.

During the Icehouse I was especially focused on integration with other
projects like Tempest, DevStack, etc. In Icehouse we've done an
awesome work and solve the crazily huge list of issues to become the
integrated project and finally we have successfully graduated from the
incubation and Sahara will be a part of Juno integrated release.

For the Juno I'd like to keep my own focus on the same stuff -
coordination, review, release management and general approach
tracking. As about the overall project focus I'd like to continue
working on Tempest tests coverage, integration with other OpenStack
projects, and to add several big features in EDP and core Sahara like
applying "NextGen architecture" discussed on the Hong Kong summit,
version 2 REST API polished, cleaned and implemented using Pecan
framework, improved UX for non-expert EDP users and etc. Additionally,
I'd like to note that we'll need to significantly increase
documentation coverage and backward compatibility policies.

A few words about myself: I'm Principle Software Engineer in Mirantis.
I was working a lot with Big Data projects and technologies (Hadoop,
HDFS, Cassandra, Twitter Storm, etc.) and enterprise-grade solutions
before starting working on Sahara in OpenStack ecosystem. You can see
my commit history [0], review history [1].

My high-level focus as PTL is to coordinate work of subteams, code

During the Juno cycle I was especially focused on stability, improving
testing and supporting for the different data processing tools in
addition to the Apache Hadoop. The very huge lists of bugs and
improvements has been done during the cycle and I’m glad that we’re
ending the Juno with completed list of planned features and new
plugins available to end users including Cloudera and Spark. The great
work was done on keeping backward compatibility together with security
and usability improvements.

For the Kilo I’d like to keep my own focus on the same stuff -
coordination, review, release management and general approach
tracking. As about the overall project focus I’d like to continue
working on stability and tests coverage, distributed architecture,
improved UX for non-expert EDP users, ability to use Sahara out of the
box and etc. Additionally, I’m thinking about adopting an idea of
czars system for Sahara in Kilo release and I’d like to discuss it on
the summit. So, my vision of Kilo is to continue moving forward in
implementing scalable and flexible Data Processing aaS for OpenStack
ecosystem by investing in quality and new features.

[openstack-dev] [sahara] PTL Candidacy for Pike

2017-01-20 Thread Telles Nobrega
Hello everyone!

I'd like to announce my candidacy for PTL of the Data

Processing project (Sahara), and to describe what I hope to do to help
Sahara move forward.

First of all I would like to introduce myself. I've been working on the
Sahara project since the Icehouse release, and since the Newton release I
have been a member of the Sahara core reviewer team.

I was responsible for introducing the Storm plugin to Sahara and have
maintained it since its creation. Other than that, I've been working on
many different features and small fixes to Sahara.

Here are a summary of my contributions to Sahara:

Reviews:

* All-time:
http://stackalytics.com/?module=sahara-group&user_id=tellesmvn&release=all
* Ocata:
http://stackalytics.com/?module=sahara-group&user_id=tellesmvn&release=ocata
Commits:
* All-time:
http://stackalytics.com/?module=sahara-group&user_id=tellesmvn&release=all&metric=commits
* Ocata:
http://stackalytics.com/?module=sahara-group&user_id=tellesmvn&release=ocata&metric=commits

As PTL I will coordinate the team to reach community goals, manage
Sahara releases, and track all activities related to new features
in Sahara. Also I plan to minimize the open bug list by organizing some bug
triage days and bug fix weeks. Improving documentation is also a priority
to
allow Sahara to grow.

My main focus for this coming release is finding ways to grow the Sahara
team.
Currently we have mentees and I would like to improve that kind of
integration to bring new people to the team.

As for Sahara features, I plan to establish a team and set deadlines to
deliver API v2. I will also focus on preparing Sahara for Python 3.5

I hope that Sahara will continue to grow in the Pike release.

Best regards, Telles Nobrega
