Hi, You dont have "database" in your tnsnames.ora or whatever name service you use. Sure, sqlplus user/user@database will give you the same. Psycharis, Do you have the database defined in your tnsnames.ora file? Can you connect via sql*net to this database shown behind the @ symbol? We get this error when we don't have our ORACLE_HOME set properly. We have multiple versions of Oracle on the same Unix box.
