I tested all of the included .world files, the uoa_robotics_lab.world file is
the only one that exhibits this particular behavior. There are a few other
.world files that don't work as well, but for the most part none of them are
causing segfaults. I've removed the offending world files for now, while the
bug is tracked down. Here's the new SRPM and spec reflecting the changes:

The TG2 stack has been in Fedora & EPEL for a while now. I was just being lazy
and letting bodhi close this bug for me, the the stack is still in
epel-testing. It should be good to go though, and I'll coordinate a push of
all of the right pieces to stable shortly.

We're at TurboGears2 2.0.x, but I plan on bringing us up to speed with the 2.1
release that is happening soon, which is *much* faster due to a dispatcher
re-write.

How will it lead to a multilib conflict? Its fine to install both the 32 and 64
bit binaries and libraries and run/use either.

I was working on a package too, but didn't consider it ready for Fedora yet. I
was working with upstream while this was submitted without contacting or
following upstream. That's a stupid waste of work.

Some of my work and review got upstreamed, but please take what you can use
from the spec at
http://bitbucket.org/kiilerix/dreampie-rpm/src/tip/dreampie.spec - though there
isn't much to take except these comments:

I would say that one file as LGPLv2+ (which is compatible with and thus
relicensable to GPLv3) isn't worth mentioning in the license field. And there
are other files with other compatible licenses.

Group: It is not a lib but more like Development/Tools

The package requires pygtk2-libglade, not just pygtk2

Man pages should be %doc

And finally and the reason I got stalled: I think the use of zip files is a
show-stopper. It is a ugly hack and doesn't give the transparency we like in
Fedora packaging. The py2 files should be installed as plain py files, and the
py3 files moved to a py3 subpackage on the archs where it is available.

I haven't found GPLv3 myself and I am dimly remember it might not be possible
to have one ... I think GPLv3 made + finally mandatory, but I would have to
check on this.

> (b) Where have you found "GPL+"?

some header files in include/opcode/ directory.

johanka:gdb-7.0.90.20100306$ grep -ril 'either version 1, or' include/opcode/*

include/opcode/hppa.h

I have some recycled code here.

Just for aesthetic reasons, or is there any consequences for rpm's generation?

Thank you so much, James, I guess that is time to some googleing and ask for
help in the lists.

--- Comment #93 from James Heather 2010-03-09 17:26:43
EST ---
Is the no-documentation problematic? Obviously the javadoc is in a separate
package, but maybe you are supposed to put in a README? Not sure.

I have run

  rpmlint -a | grep no-doc

and it did seem that there were quite a lot of installed packages on my machine
that have that warning, so you're in good company.

You'd think that an error would be a fatal problem, wouldn't you? Well,

  rpmlint -a | grep " E: "

returns plenty of stuff.

But

  rpmlint -a | grep "debuginfo-without-sources"

returns nothing (and I do have quite a number of debuginfo packages installed),
so I suspect that one is a problem.

James

don't use -p in install param

if you use

why use a few lines later
install -dm 755 %{buildroot}%{_libdir}/%{name}

try to be consequent.

don't use "\" line break so much. a 80 chars long lines is not too long, so
most lines shouldn't have to break.

Looks like the .so files need to go into %{_libdir}/%{name}. I suspect that
will get rid of the warning; but it needs doing either way.

Good work--this looks like it's coming along nicely.

I don't think the soname missing is really an issue since .so should never be
called directly. Only called through Java.
About the debuginfo without sources, I am not familiar with fedora but I am
pretty sure you should copy the native source (C) into a dedicated package into
a directory where gdb can find them.

I have read the bug, however as Jussi and I already said on this bug,
the new package is "zim" software with language being changed from perl
to python, not more or less ( I know some other applications which
changes the language they use, like C -> python, ruby -> perl, etc...)
Also "pyzim" or "python-zim" is just wrong because this naming usually
means that this package is some module of python (like pygtk2), while
is actually one "application".

Thanks for the review.

I'll fix the License tag in the next commit.

The .so files are actually modules used by guile, moving them to -devel package
would break guile.

The ghosts for slibcat and slib symlink were used to ensure that the files will
be correctly removed when guile is upgraded to another major version (the
location will change). They are created only when slib is installed, so it
should always point to an existing directory.

I sent a query off to Josh Boyer and then forgot about it. If it will help,
I'll ping him again. It sounds like you have what you need, though.

Do you know why ccl needs mmap_zero on PPC? That's kind of an odd thing to do.
Since it doesn't seem to be needed on x86 platforms, perhaps it can be coded
around somehow.

Bingo: I've managed to acquire an old PowerBook G4 at work and figured out it's
SELinux ruining ccl's day on PPC machines ever since the default policy was
changed to disallow "mmap_zero" by default.
Either we wait for PPC support to vanish in Fedora Land, exclude PPC or I'll
have to create ccl-selinux with a new type for the ccl kernel on PPC systems
that allows for this specific access.. your opinion?

Hi, sorry for the delay, but I'm a little sick this days.
As you can see, I've updated gluegen to build a package named gluegen-source.
By doing this, I'm, now, able to build jogl without gluegen side by side and my
spec now BuildRequires: gluegen-source. I've made a patch to point my build.xml
to the correc (and new) location of gluegen.
Despite the fact that my local copy of jogl builds ok, I'm having problems with
my rpmbuild version:

All W/E discussed previously, I'm ok with them.
Confirmed that URL is no longer available, could be probably
http://web.archive.org/web/20070819111735/www.hcs.harvard.edu/~dholland/computers/old-netkit.html

+ MUST: package named according to the Package Naming Guidelines

Name doesn't match upstream tarball(netkit-telnet), but it's done this way for
a
long time and for consistency I would say it is better to keep it as it is.
Same is done in other distros as well.

+ MUST: The spec file name must match the base package %{name}
+ MUST: The package must meet the Packaging Guidelines .
+ MUST: The package licensed with a Fedora approved license and meets the
Licensing Guidelines
+ MUST: The License field in the package spec file matches the actual
license
0 MUST: If (and only if) the source package includes the text of the license(s)
in its own file, then that file, containing the text of the license(s) for the
package must be included in %doc.

No such file in package.

+ MUST: The spec file must be written in American English.
+ MUST: The spec file for the package MUST be legible.
+ MUST: The sources used to build the package must match the upstream
source, as provided in the spec URL. Reviewers should use md5sum for this task
>From sources:
$ md5sum netkit-telnet-0.17.tar.gz
d6beabaaf53fe6e382c42ce3faa05a36 netkit-telnet-0.17.tar.gz
>From upstream ftp:
$ md5sum netkit-telnet-0.17.tar.gz
d6beabaaf53fe6e382c42ce3faa05a36 netkit-telnet-0.17.tar.gz
= MATCHES
+ MUST: The package successfully compiles and builds into binary rpms on at
least one primary architecture
 - tested on i686, no problems
0 MUST: If the package does not successfully compile, build or work on an
architecture, then those architectures should be listed in the spec in
ExcludeArch
+ MUST: All build dependencies must be listed in BuildRequires, except for any
that are listed in the exceptions section of the Packaging Guidelines
0 MUST: The spec file handles locales properly. This is done by using the
%find_lang macro
0 MUST: Every binary RPM package (or subpackage) which stores shared library
files (not just symlinks) in any of the dynamic linker's default paths, must
call ldconfig in %post and %postun.
0 MUST: Packages must NOT bundle copies of system libraries
0 MUST: If the package is designed to be relocatable, the packager must state
this fact in the request for review, along with the rationalization for
relocation of that specific package. Without this, use of Prefix: /usr is
considered a blocker
+ MUST: Package must own all directories that it creates. If it does not create
a directory that it uses, then it should require a package which does create
that directory
+ MUST: Package must not list a file more than once in the spec file's %files
listings
+ MUST: Permissions on files must be set properly. Every %files section must
include a %defattr(...) line.
+ MUST: Each package must have a %clean section, which contains rm -rf
%{buildroot} (or $RPM_BUILD_ROOT).
+ MUST: Each package must consistently use macros
+ MUST: The package must contain code, or permissable content
0 MUST: Large documentation files must go in a -doc subpackage
+ MUST: If a package includes something as %doc, it must not affect the runtime
of the application
0 MUST: Header files must be in a -devel package
0 MUST: Static libraries must be in a -static package
0 MUST: Packages containing pkgconfig(.pc) fi
