While holding the V R Stream back side up and the top of the unit with the sd card slot toward me I pushdown on each side of the cover and at the same time push away from me. It takes a little pressure but pushing down and away opens the cover. Have you tried pushing down on the tab and pushing the cover toward you at the same time? As for me, I find it a lot harder to get my Executive Products leather case off than I do opening the battery compartment. Just keep working with it, it will surprise you just how easy it is to do, once you get the hang of it.
