I'm probably a litle late here but allof mp3 was replaced by
mp3sparks.com and you can use your current allofmp3login to download
stuff. They also except vis and mastercard. Supposably the
downloads are just a tad more expensive to cover legal costs for us
licensing.

Not sure what you're referring to but the site is down, well, I've tried

As I understand it, so far, they only have signed up one label for no

I've heard that amazon will be launching a download store this year to
rival i-tunes. Music will be free of any copy protection so will be
able to play on any mp3 player and they hope to have over 12,000 record
labels signed up within a short time. Can't tell you anything about
formats yet. Given amazon's record on good accessibility, it will
likely be very easy to use so sounds promising.

OK, looks like I'd better go and have a play then.

Noticed sound taxi getting mentioned a lot on here but have never read the

Re: sites for downloading music

2007-07-23 Thread Dancing Queen
Hi

Can you get to the site at all so you can get a link to alltunes?

How do you use alltunes as I never have, do I just go to the site, put the
music in to the basket once I've logged on using my same log in details and
then download as usual? if not can you fill me in and give me the link to
the site.

OK, my next problem is that i need a site like allofmp3 where I can download
the music as clean mp3 and can play it on anything I want, the stuff I've
downloaded from all ofmp3 libes on my external hard drive but I've made
compilation cd's that play on my stereo and have it all on sd cards that I
use in my milestone and that's what I want to do. Again, no subscription if
possible, or, a subscription and then free downloads like limewire which as
far as I know still doesn't work for us.

Thanks and sorry for the long post.

Re: sites for downloading music

2007-07-23 Thread Dancing Queen
Hi

I've noticed it can be very slow sometimes, I've also found that once you've
put the music in the basket you're better downloading it right away. i've
also found that its slower when the kids are off school so you have to
download at a time when they'll all still be in bed LOL

Re: sites for downloading music

2007-07-22 Thread Chuck Adkins
Well, just thought I would inform you that the Russian government shut them
down about a week and a half ago, after the World Trade Commission hinted to
Russia that they might be let in if they shut down allofmp3. I think you may
be able to use All Tunes only to spend your remaining balance if you have
any, but you can't add more or anything.

I hate to see them go. It's just the RIAA killing another form of
competition. They were much happier when we all marched down to our favorite
stored and plunked down $20 for a CD with twelve songs 2 of which we liked,
on a CD that is cheaper to produce than earlier vinyl lp's.

I use oll of mp3, its not altogether technically legal and there's a visual
verification when you register, also, you have to buy pre payment cards to
put credit in to your account as the credit card companies decided not to
allow transactions to them, not their place to sensor us in my opinion but
that's how it is.

Re: sites for downloading music

2007-07-22 Thread Kevin Lloyd
I've heard that amazon will be launching a download store this year to rival
i-tunes. Music will be free of any copy protection so will be able to play
on any mp3 player and they hope to have over 12,000 record labels signed up
within a short time. Can't tell you anything about formats yet. Given
amazon's record on good accessibility, it will likely be very easy to use so
sounds promising.

I like Napster and www.emusic.com
The Napster client can be a little tricky, but if you have at least
Jaws 8 and a little patience it can be done. You may also get some
nag screens with Napster about moving to the subscriber level but I
personally like being a Napster Light member where there is no
monthly fee and songs and albums can be purchased ala carte. HTH Norma

You could try www.musicgiants.com they don't have a lot of variety, but it
is easy to get around. The music is the best quality anywhere!

Re: downloading music from Usenet news groups

2006-09-26 Thread Richard Claypool
Hi,

outlook express wasn't even good for a simple mod or xm file back in the
day.

I use newshosting.com, and have had no problems with them.

I'd stay away from giganews since there are whispers that the riaa might be
going after them, but I don't think so.

Not enough people use them to make it wroth the time .. .

easynews, giganews, newshosting, binaryboy's newshosting, plus some others
are relyable. do some research, see what they have to offer, choose.

I heard Easynews is about the only one that's reliable. This downloading
stuff sounds like a different breed than something like Outlook Express
could deal with. I'm not sure what most ISP news servers have as far as

I think there's a way to do it, but I'm not sure.

Email [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Ask howward.

Wait I think if you check the box that says something like auto-advanc it
will then search all the groups in a given list.

Oh, maximizing the program is a good idea to, and I asked for, and got the
feature to have it remember the last window setting used. This was back
when I didn't know you could configure that in the shortcut.

Howard's very responsive to features and requests and problems. If he ever
comes here, I'll buy him a few beers and dinner lol.

Re: downloading music from Usenet news groups

2006-09-26 Thread Michael Lang
There are several ways to search for binary files on UseNet. NewsRover
is a fine program, which can do that. However one has to use certain
providers for it to work. Giganews is one example. They're great, but if
you use a provider, which isn't supported, you can't use NewsRover's
search feature. You could then use a web based engine. I like
www.ngindex.com. If you find something there, you cannot download it
from the site, but you can download an NZB file, which describes all the
parts of the file. One can then download the file via the NZB from any
provider with an NZB capable Usenet program.

Hi Richard.
Thanks for letting me in to Binary Boy.
It's much more accessible than the UseNext client which I have been using
for the last year.
One thing though with Binary Boy, I can't seem to be able to do a search on
all news group like the UseNext client allows me to do!
It looks that I can only ssearch one group at a time?
Any particular tricks you have up your sleeve to do this?

Hi,

You can either use the older version of agent, or you can use binaryboy. I
like binaryboy for downloading, and the author is super nice, but if you
have the older version of agent, there's really no need to use anything
else.

like so many things, it's all in what you like.

I, too have the same trouble with the message window, making e-mail and text
newsgroups less friendly than Outlook Express, but I can get along with the
limitations and find the later Agent much better at combining usenet headers
than earlier versions.On Sat, 23 Sep 2006 19:29:06 -0400, you wrote:

Re: downloading music from Usenet news groups

2006-09-23 Thread Steve Matzura
Forte Agent in its present incarnation is just as accessible as it
ever was. You just have to do a little work, is all. The
configuration editor is 100% accessible, and with a change to either
your screenreader for selecting custom highlight colors or Agent
itself for customizing its highlight colors, the only thing I haven't
quite gotten a handle on (no pun intended, JAWS script kiddies) is how
to make message windows read automatically. Otherwise, Agent's great!

And if you still want to use the old one (Version 1.93) and can't find
it, I can send it to you, or better yet, put it up on YouSendIt and
let everybody have a go at it. Just remember, the best feature of
Agent--the ability to combine multiple messages into a single large
file attachment--doesn't work until it's paid for.

Re: downloading music from Usenet news groups

2006-09-23 Thread Donald L. Roberts
Joe, I download music from Usenet using one of two ways.

I have a trial version of a program called Newsshark which is
pretty accessible. Also, I have an Easy News subscription, so I
can download binaries via http. However, I read a cautionary
note that downloading via http at high speed is potentially
troublesome if one has a Linksys router (which I do) because
files can become corrupted. This has not yet happened to me, but
I am concerned.

The last I knew, Agent could not handle Yenc encoding. Has this
been fixed. Also, I thought I had read that more recent versions
of Agent were much less accessible.

Incidentally, I usually use Window Eyes 5.5 but also have a demo
of Jaws 7.0.

a new version of Napster available, 2.5.11. Although I haven't used this

Next question is, how do you get past the error that says that I don't have
rights to this file, even though I've purchased it?
That happened to me with easy cd creator and nero.

Re: downloading music

Napster tracks are $0.99 a track, and I think $9.99 an album. There might
be a monthly fee for unlimited downloads, I don't use it so don't know for
sure what it costs. The Napster software is accessible, IMHO.

If you have a couple of GB to share, DCPlusPlus is the way to go. Find it on
Sourceforge.net, there are also scripts for it, but don't remember the url's
but a google search for something like Jaws scripts for DC++ should turn
them up.

Cheers,
Brett.
