Re: wave to MP 3 conversion problem
To update the file in the open window (I think) means it will close the .wav file and open the .mp3 (or whatever format you are converting to) file. Further editing would then be done to the new file instead of the old .wav file. This is a guess because I've never done it. I just say "no" and do a close/open manually. One must set the file type and location as well as the format (bitrate, etc.) before hitting the "save" button. A five hour file will take quite some time to complete. Then goldwave will ask if you want to update the sound in the editor to the new file. I always say "no" and close the file. Then I open it again or go and try to play it in winamp. The new file should be (maybe) ten percent of the size of the original file. Re: wave to MP 3 conversion problem
when you save a file in a format other than what you started with it will ask this question. Unless you need to do more work with the original file then you can say yes to listen to your final changes or no and keep the original in the work space to either save as is to work on later. - Original Message - From: "Vinny Samarco" To: "PC Audio Discussion List" Sent: Tuesday, December 27, 2011 10:58 PM Subject: Re: wave to MP 3 conversion problem Howard, What does it mean when goldwave asks if you want to update the file in a new window? and Why should you say yes or no? Re: wave to MP 3 conversion problem
Hi, For now I gave up on the project. I set a physical to record in MP 3 and will dump that to a computer to separate individual files from the long file and make a data disk. Meanwhile, I'll give a look to Win Lame. Thanks very much for all your input. Hello. Sounds perfectly right to me. I've never tried saving such a huge amount of data at once, but I can attest that it works for much smaller sizes. Maybe you've encountered a bug of some kind?
