I know this thread has been running for awhile, but I just came too, I guess. Silly, I suppose, but I prefer #1 even though the back mid-riff detracts. If only it were not there. PJ, I like the first one much better than the second. For me it just has more interest throughout the frame. I don't see the girl as the subject so much in this one as the setting. If the distant island wasn't there it would not work as well, but I just sense something special about the place and the relationship between all the elements seems to work together quite well. I much prefer the second shot. Better composition, nicer rendering of the lady. Both could be brighter in the foreground, but I would preserve the color and rendering of the sky. You're making my life a lot more interesting than it actually is. I never actually met the lady. She was there, I was there, and I had a camera.
