I was just looking at the numbers again, and I was reminded of how well the
lens does wide open, and how well the lens does throughout its zoom range
(none of those "but it gets soft at 300mm" comments for this long zoom).

About the only complaint I've ever had with this critter is that Tokina's
multicoating is not quite as good as Pentax SMC (no surprise there, of
course).

I have a couple of these gems, and one, as usual, will be in my bag when I
go to work (whale watching) today.
