Thanks Cotty. I guess that I'm a terrible judge of my own photos. Both of those
were pretty much a case of walk up to a tourist outlook, aim my camera at
the scenic bits, snap a bunch of pictures then choose the better ones.
I used a bigma with the first, and Candice's ND filter with the second, so
while someone with an iPhone couldn't have gotten them, pretty much anyone
with a reasonably complete SLR kit could have, and with little effort.

It's hard for me to think of a photo that "anybody" could have taken as

Those are the two I'd have picked, too.

I especially loved the composition in the seal photo. Maybe anyone with
a decent camera /could/ have taken it, but I'd submit it would've been

This first one was taken for purely sentimental reasons. That, and the previous
were taken at Limekiln park (see the map). When I was a kid, it was privately
owned park, and one of my family's favorite places to camp. We'd camp on a
levee near the beach next to a lagoon formed by the levee holding back
water from the creek. There are some nice woods, and a waterfall on the inland
side of the park. Those poles and the orange sign are for the construction
area to repair the damage from last year's big mudslide.

If I were to dig through slides that I have downstairs I would be able
to pictures I took of that stretch of beach ~40 years ago, attempting to catch
light shining through the backs of waves.

It's often entertaining to stop by one's favorite childhood haunts.
