[BUGS] installation bug-cannot create user name

2008-12-02 Thread smithat

Hi,

I tried downloading this product because it is required in order for me
to use another program I paid for, pokertracker. Yet whenever I try
installing postgreSQL it brings up an error message that last part of
the install saying could not create user name and then some other
stuff about how this may affect post-install operations. Anyone know
what I can do to get this program on my computer??

Thanks,

Tate Smith

[BUGS] BUG #4557: win32 roll back after install half way to find postgres account existed.

2008-12-02 Thread Mr Teo

The following bug has been logged online:

Bug reference: 4557
Logged by: Mr Teo
Email address: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
PostgreSQL version: 8.2 and above
Operating system: XP home edition
Description:win32 roll back after install half way to find postgres
account existed.
Details:

Hi,

I had downloaded to install a msi package postgresql 8.2 and 8.3 .

During the installation, it showed and existed account postgres was found
(installed by 8.29 previously and removed by the uninstall program that come
with) and
it roll back in refusing to continue Eror

I used delprof to remove all unused account but it still
detect that there is a postgres account despite the explorer or cmd.exe
windows did not show any. I m using
XP home edition and suspected the msi package having a bug.

Is there any way to get around to remove the unseen postgres account? If the
msi installer come with a choice to delete old hidden account, it will be
easier,
right?

Re: [BUGS] Fall back to alternative tsearch dictionary directory

2008-12-02 Thread Martin Pitt
Tom Lane [2008-12-01 19:51 -0500]:
I can't see any reason whatever to not put them into
${sharepath}/tsearch_data/. It's not like you're expecting to be
able to share them with other applications.

Oh, forgot yesterday, there is one case: the data can be shared
between the 8.3, 8.4, and any future version. (In Debian/Ubuntu you
can install different 8.x versions in parallel)

But that can easily be achieved in the distro packaging by adding
symlinks, so if you prefer just looking for
${sharedir}/tsearch_data/system_ll_cc.affix, that would still work for
me.

Thanks!

Martin
