Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBc doesn't work
If you have the same problems as Countryman, I suggest the same questions. The AlienBBC installer for Windows is normally a case of running the program and restarting slimserver. If there is a a problem with a installer or the instructions, more information will help fix that. Also same symptoms (i.e. No AlienBBC menu) may have more than one cause. Can you please provide the following info to help you and other in same situation. 1. Confirm you are running Windows XP and whether you are Slimserver 6.5.0 or 6.5.1 2. What is the name of the exe file you downloaded and used to install AlienBC 3. If you have the same problem as Countryman - can you give more detail on this > > I do notice that the automatic installation has put the app in a > different directory from that mentioned in the manual install. > 4. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: slimfx - Flash-based Skin / Control App
Hi again, Still a good thing with SlimFX. A few bugs seem to be around when using Mac OS X up against a SB3: - Now playing playlist stopped responding after a while (not updated on computer, not sending added tracks to SB3) - No tracks showing when clicking on an artist or an album. The reason? It could be because I'm switching between two SB's (one virtual, one physical)? It could also be because I am running the SlimServer from my portable. Note that ordinary "default" web interface was working at all time. A restart of my Mac solved the problem for now - could be it would have been enough to restart the SlimServer. No further details available, but thought I'd share my experience. /Sune -- Sune Sune's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=8823 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=32422 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins

Argh, people keep telling me this and I can't repeat the problem at all on any of the machines I've tried moose on.. :-( I'm presuming you're on XP, typing away in outlook and the focus is stolen the second the toast appears ? Well, yeah, Im hoping to one day.. But.. Due to work and stuff I dont really get much time to spend on it, and if I made it OS I guess im worried that the little time I did have would be spent managing and things rather than the fun things like programming.. I dunno though.. Be nice to have some more hands, particularly with making it run under mono and stuff.. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] announcing SaverSwitcher: plugin that cycles through screensavers
Is it already possible to cycle through screensavers with a remote keypush? If not, how hard would it be to configure SaverSwitcher to do this? ie. I usually have "Now Playing" on, but sometimes want to check the weather conditions/forecast. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBc doesn't work
Hi Guys I'm new to all this streaming stuff. I haven't yet bought the Squeezebox, I've nearly won the wife round:-) Anyway, I have downloaded SlimServer and can now stream my home music to my work PC. AlienBBc seems a brilliant idea, but I also can't get it to work. I downloaded and ran AlienBBC-v1.06_6.5.exe SlimSever 6.5.1 The mplayer tests worked fine SlimServer has been re-started AlienBBC appears under the Internet Radio section of the SlimServer Home page. All the BBC stations appear, and when selected appaer in the Music Player window. >From here I can not get them to play. I have added Virgin Radio to the AlienBBC section and this works fine Help please!!! Some Secruity (anti-virus / firewall / anti spyware ) software can interfere with AlienBBC on Windows. Thanks for the quick reply. I have Symantec Client Firewall v 5.1, currently disabled Symantec AntiVirus v 8.1.0.825, both corporate editions. I do have my non-corporate PC here as well, running AVG and normal windows firewall. I could try to repeat on this PC. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBc doesn't work
I can't offer specific advice on those versions, so some general advice will have to do. 1. AlienBBC makes use of an app socketwrapper so make sure socketwrapper.exe is a trusted network app by the firewall and can do any networking. 2. If the security app is blocking socketwrapper - there is a version of socketwrapper which is more acceptable to security s/w. You can try it by downloading it, unzip it and replace the socketwrapper.exe in the Slimserver/Bin directory. http://homepage.eircom.net/~altondsl/slim/socketwrapper_0.12_20060220.zip you can see it referencen on the AlienBBC wesite. http://www.x2systems.com/alienbbc/faq.html If the above steps do not help - then the problem may be elsewhere - such as network timeout. See the faq but if you don't make progress - come back. -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=32440 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins

No further details available, > but thought I'd share my experience. This unfortunate error prevents > the SlimFX for being "wife compatible" for now. > This is kinda surprising. It could easily be explained if the CLI interface could become unresponsive. But that's unlikely, since this probably would have been discovered by now by other control apps. One detail of my implementation (and I'd bet of some other CLI implementations) is that all requests to the server are queued. I.e. one request is sent to the server at a time, and the next request doesn't execute until the first is finished. So if something is not responsive, it may just be the case that some other operation is taking a long time to respond. That said, retrieving Artists/Albums for a Genre doesn't generally take such a long time. (It's usually retrieving a huge playlist that takes a long time and blocks other operations). So this isn't really a plausible explanation either. :-\ It's possible that there's a bug in the way I'm queuing up requests, so that the queue can stop executing at some point. But I've never seen this...I thought that code was very robust. I'll try to get out a version that has a debugging console, which will help. Incidentally, if the client stops responding, you might very well be able to fix the problem by simply re-opening the page in your browser. Reloading the page basically means destroying the previously running version of the app and loading up a new one. You shouldn't need to reboot your server, unless it's a server problem. -- gsamsa gsamsa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=194 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=32422 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins

Please try this version and let me know what you think: http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SaverSwitcher-1.6.zip In "off" mode, pretty much any key will work. I recommend pressing the "0" button -- if the Slim Devices Now Playing saver is running, that may be the only button that will work. This new feature seems to play well with SuperDateTime. It doesn't work so well with my FuzzyTime saver (conflicts with the code that makes FuzzyTime display the real time for 2 seconds), but I think that's a problem with FuzzyTime's function mapping code, and probably not a major problem (FT's "show real time" function works fine when FT is the only saver for a given mode). Thanks for the suggestion! )p( Peter -- I made a small change to the code that kicks off the intermittent check for new songs that might make it a bit more reliable... -Peter -- peterw peterw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2107 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=32230 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins
