Re: PB 1400 OS 9.1 installation tip
A 5300 CE and a 1400 will run 9.1. No Voodoo to load it. It is just a straight up install. We are running it on both machines. The 5300 has 48 megs and the 1400 has 64. I have 48 MB in mine and when I tried to install 9.1 it didn't work. Mine is also running the stock 133mHz processor, not a G3. -Andy --snip-- I've got the max--64megs of RAM. But I think your problem is that OS 9.1 requires a minimum of a G3 processor (someone correct me if I'm wrong). Spence _ Instant message in style with MSN Messenger 6.0. Contrary 1400
Hi List I have a 1400/166 with 64MB ram and a 15 gig HDD that I cannot figure out. When I first turn it on in the morning it will only boot to the happy face Mac. It will just hang there. After I force it to restart and try to boot without the extension it still only goes to the happy Mac. If you leave it set there after about 20 minutes it will boot up. Then it will bomb. It will take at least two restarts to get past the bomb, then you can reboot it and other than it being slow it works right. A little later it will get to it's regular speed. We have tried about everything I can think of. We ran disk Dr. and then defraged it. Then we decided to completely reload the os and all the software. NOTHING HELPS. Do any of you have an idea what to do now. I am sending this from the machine now and it is working fine. It is running OS 8.6, when this started a few days ago I was running 9.1 with no problems. -- PowerBooks is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and... Re: 1400 not doing right?
Well, we did the Norton check and defrag. Norton fixed a few problems and defrag put things in place - so it's working better now. Will do this right now, and see if it makes a difference.
