Re: [Qgis-user] gvsig mobile on ubuntu?
Alex Mandel-2 wrote: gvSIG is a Java app, my guess is that which device it runs on just depends on which Java runtime you have - the mobile versions being tweaked slightly to be smaller and work better on devices. Since you're running Ubuntu any desktop app would work, you might want to poke around gpsd and email the OSGeo-discuss list for ideas of other apps that would work. Collecting GPS points is actually fairly simple and could be done with a simple app written in (pick your favorite language) since gpsd has an api. the desktop gvSIg can be installed in Ubuntu, but lacks in gps functionality I use gpsd to activate the gps on my Ubuntu install of the u820, what I need is an app that that can display maps and capture gps data to shape-file (like Arcpad). OSGeo-discuss list may be the place to look, thanks for the suggestion regards / Fafner -- View this message in context: http://n2.nabble.com/gvsig-mobile-on-ubuntu--tp3295628p3314839.html Sent from the qgis-user mailing list archive at Nabble.com. ___ Qgis-user mailing list Qgis-user@lists.osgeo.org http://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/qgis-user
[Qgis-user] gvsig mobile on ubuntu?
Hi, sorry for going off-topic asking about gvSIG Mobile here, but I havent been granted permission to post on the gvSIG mailing list/board. Ayway, as the question pertains to capturing GPS data for later use in Qgis it's kinda qgis-related. I've been using Arcpad on Windows Mobile and Windows 7 to capture GPS data. As suggested previously by ppl on this board I've tried gvSIG Mobile on the PDA. It worked but was sluggish due to the limited processing power of the PDA. Now I've got an UMPC with internal GPS, and I would like to give gvSIG Mobile another go on this much more powerful setup (Fujitsu u820). The problem is I want to run it in Ubuntu, and gvSIG Mobile dont come in ubuntu-flavor. There is a XP version available that should be possible to run using wine, but it doesnt have an exe installer (only a .bat file) and I'm not sure how to proceed with the installation. Has anyone here managed to get gvSIG Mobile running in Ubuntu? There are also versions of gvSIG Mobile for Maemo and Freerunner (linux based phone distros), could one of these be made to run in Ubuntu? thanx / Fafner -- View this message in context: http://n2.nabble.com/gvsig-mobile-on-ubuntu--tp3295628p3295628.html Sent from the qgis-user mailing list archive at Nabble.com. ___ Qgis-user mailing list Qgis-user@lists.osgeo.org http://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/qgis-user
[Qgis-user] qgis in Ubuntu 9.04 (jaunty)?
Hi, what's the status regarding installing/running Qgis in Ubuntu 9.04 (jaunty)? I had a look at http://qgis.org/en/download/binaries.html and didnt find any link to jaunty repos. Re: [Qgis-user] mobile gis and geotag on pocketpc?
Thanx all I installed gvSIG Mobile (the download with PhoneME Virtual Machine included) and it seem to run OK, found some satellites and could load simple shape files. JPG, TIFs etc didnt load, looks like one have to export them from gvSIG desktop to gvSIG Mobile, will try that. No Perl on the Ipaq (to my knowledge). Will synchronise clocks (lol) and try to use the gps tracklog for the tagging on the desktop. And then have a go with Peter Ersts exif data provider. Will be fun. / Fafner -- View this message in context: http://n2.nabble.com/mobile-gis-and-geotag-on-pocketpc--tp2666829p2674464.html Sent from the qgis-user mailing list archive at Nabble.com. ___ Qgis-user mailing list Qgis-user@lists.osgeo.org http://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/qgis-user
[Qgis-user] mobile gis and geotag on pocketpc?
Hi, I'm wondering if there are any open source mobile GIS available for pocketpc. I'm running a HP Ipaq hw6515 with windows mobile 2003, and for now I use ESRI Arcpad, but I would like to replace it with some open software. I have found a homepage on GRASS GIS on Handhelds http://grass.itc.it/platforms/grasshandheld.html but the info looks to be 5 years old so I wonder if there are any more recent developments. Also, does any one know if this old Mobile GRASS combined with familiar Linux would run on a hw6515? Apart from an arcpad replacement I'm looking for some open source geotag app to run on the Ipaq. The idea is to collect gps positions on the Ipaq, to tag photos taken by my digital camera (Nikon). thanx / Fafner -- View this message in context: http://n2.nabble.com/mobile-gis-and-geotag-on-pocketpc--tp2666829p2666829.html Sent from the qgis-user mailing list archive at Nabble.com. ___ Qgis-user mailing list Qgis-user@lists.osgeo.org http://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/qgis-user
[Qgis-user] question on Ftools - polygon centroids
Hi, I have a question on the ftool-plugin, and more specifically the geometry tool polygon centroids. I find this tool very useful. However, when I use it, quite regularly a few points get the X or Y (or both) coordinates transformed to negative numbers, instead of x = 1234567 I get x = -1234567. Is this a known bug? Is there any way to prevent this? Can I edit the coordinates manually to fix this? I use Qgis 1.0.1_Kore in Ubuntu 8.04lts, I have also experienced the error in Qgis for Windows. The coordinate system in use is Sweref99 TM. thanx / Fafner -- View this message in context: http://n2.nabble.com/question-on-Ftools---polygon-centroids-tp2540371p2540371.html Sent from the qgis-user mailing list archive at Nabble.com. ___ Qgis-user mailing list Qgis-user@lists.osgeo.org http://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/qgis-user
