Re: [QUAD-L] more about wireless microphones
It seems like the majority of your problem is ambient noise Dave. There are some options which would allow you to work with noise, but like I said previously it can be quite pricey. No-brainer (spelled with a K.) has some information on their website. The best way I have been able to eliminate the ambient noise issue is by using the boom V4 in combination with a wireless device. But once again this microphone is quite pricey. I am also able to use a Plantronics USB microphone that had a significant noise reduction. Right now I'm using an older model of the Nady encore II. Sometimes I use other microphones on that wireless system, but right now I'm using the simple lapel microphone that comes with the wireless transmitter receiver. I have the transmitter wired into my chair so that the battery operates it. If you train the system properly, it will become pretty accurate using this microphone, but it does hear a lot of ambient sound. I've also used The Boom Microphone V4 with this wireless system with great success in the past, but right now it doesn't work as well as it used to. Additionally I have used a Plantronics wireless system. Quadius On Thu, Sep 16, 2010 at 7:01 PM, Dave Krehbiel wrote: Right now I am using Dragon NaturallySpeaking version 10 with a Gigaware headset. This works very well, except for one problem. My headset is plugged into my laptop, and so I need someone to put it on and take it off. This is particularly a problem when my family has guests. I would like to be able to make a quick trip into another room to say hello, without the need to have someone come into my room and unplug me from the computer, and then come back again to plug me back in. I have considered a freestanding “gooseneck” style microphone, but I am usually sitting about five or 6 feet away from the table supporting my laptop computer (so that I could easily tilt my power wheelchair for pressure relief. Does anyone have any good ideas for wireless microphones or some other solution? Thanks so much, Dave Krehbiel

first of all which operating system are you running under? Just a couple days ago I had some similar problems, but it is due to Windows updates under 7. I had to go to system restore before the updates and then let them reinstall at least three times now! The last round of updates really wreaked havoc and never had these problems with Windows Vista? I am running Dragon version 10 on a 64-bit system with plenty of system resources to spare!
